  • In this episode, it’s back to beautiful La Jolla Shores for some wintertime kayak fishing. Just like every kayak fisherman that launches at La Jolla Shores, our goal was to catch one of those elusive “home guard yellowtails.” Three friends in three kayaks, absolutely beautiful conditions… it doesn’t get any better than that!🎣😃

It was a great day on the water. Your nomad really killed the calicos. We'll keep at it!

Great video Dan. Can't beat a day like that at LJ. That was some great Calico action. The nomad was killing it, I'm guessing that you must have gotten the trolling speed just right for that days condition. Otherwise I would have expected the other to have gotten more on theirs. I've had small gay whales calves go in front of my kayak, and be doing a barrel rolls, scaping their sides on the sand in like 15' of water, but I've never had one as close on the surface like you had. That one of the great things in a LJ trip, you just don't know what you will see that day. Thanks for sharing. Tight Lines!

La Jolla is definitely an amazing place! Seeing that whale was the highlight of my day for sure.🎣😃

Good to see a couple Stealths get on some La Jolla calicos! I've shifted my 525 delivery countdown from months to weeks. Can't wait to join you on one of your trips down south.

Great video, Dan! Was nice meeting you out in the water and a good time talking about all things fishing. Stoked to make a cameo on your channel too! Looking forward to getting back out there with you and Anthony soon

Great video! I towed a nomad around for 3-4 hours without luck last Saturday. I wonder why I didn’t get any. Maybe I was going too slow or not the right line (40 lb mono)

I did catch a nice 17 inch sand bass in 130 feet of water tho on a different rig!

Hi Micheal… sand bass and calico bass definitely like the Nomad DTX Floating Minnow, but sometimes you have “one of those days.” Sunday morning at La Jolla was a good example. We all three were trolling Nomads. Anthony and I were both trolling the 140 size and Eric was trolling a 120 size Nomad. I was using a 30 pound fluorocarbon leader and they were using 40 pound leaders. For reasons unknown, I caught 10 Calicos, all on the Nomad DTX Floating Minnow 140 (Silver Green Mackerel). Eric and Anthony only got a couple of fish during that session. In the previous session Anthony caught a bunch of fish and I only caught two.🎣😃

@@losthorizonfishing107 I will keep trying the nomad. I will try to keep my speed at 3-4 mph and let it back 100 feet

Great launch! And, gotta love those Nomads! I lost one today - got it stuck on a Lobster pot that had a float the was about 6' under water due to the real high tide. Gotta replace that baby!

Anthony did exactly the same thing when we were out. He got his $25 Nomad hung up on a lobster pot!🎣😃

Dan really love the videos and thx for the advice and direction for getting in contact with Stealth . I’m currently in talks with Ruben now. Will have an order placed shortly. 555 for me as well. Your boat is nice bro!! Keep up the good work!!

You will love the Stealth Fisha 555! It completely eliminates the anxiety of submerging your expensive gear during surf launches. You will travel faster and farther than your fishing friends in peddle powered kayaks. You feel much safer and more confident in rough ocean conditions!
Robert, I’m assuming your located somewhere in California… NORCAL or SOCAL?🎣😃

@@losthorizonfishing107 I’m in NJ. I’m an avid kayaker. Been for many years. I have 4 boats including a hobie outback. I love the paddling aspect much more. I’ve been admiring the Stealths for some time. That’s how I found your channel. Lol. Now I’m checking out all your videos seeing how you fish the Stealth. Enjoying them. Seasons getting ready to start up soon. I’ll keep you posted on when I take delivery . I live close to the Raritan Bay in NJ. Lots of good access to paddle and fish! Oceans not much further also. Thx again Dan for insight and advice.

not that it really matters but you spelled #blackflagfishing wrong under your video hashtags. Great video i love La Jolla last time went out my friend and i hooked up on 1 each 25# yellowtails probably paddled 25 miles total with peddle kayaks really the only way to go for long distance fishing in a kayak.

    • @losthorizonfishing107
      @losthorizonfishing107  2 роки тому

      Thanks for catching that.🎣😃

Peddle kayaks are definitely versatile and it’s hard to beat hands free fishing, but for rough open ocean conditions and especially paddling through larger surf, you can’t beat the Stealths. They are longer, lower, sleeker and faster than peddle kayaks. The low seating position makes them incredibly stable. They are also much easier to crawl back into if you end up in the water. Also the ability to put four fully rigged rods and reels inside the water tight fish hatch keeps all your equipment safe and dry even if you flip your kayak in the surf. If you flip a Hobie or other peddle drive kayak in the surf, it’s typically a session ending disaster! If you flip a Stealth Kayak in the surf, it’s just another day at the beach!🎣😃

    • @blackflag_fishing

I can do longer distances in my stealth than I did in my outback. It’s faster and lighter, and much more comfortable. But I understand how there is a misconception about paddle kayaks from those who have never had a long and narrow one. They are built for long distances and speeds.
