I like a simple Georgian with a centre hall plan. Also to save on the kitchen : Design the lay out you want and the cabinets you want. Get cheaper doors : 70% of the cost of the cabinet is in the door. You can change the doors out to something else down the road …. It you won’t have to rip the kitchen all apart : the design you wanted is already there …..
What features does a good custom builder do for inside the walls, like the framing, sealing, and construction of the home.. things that might not be visible in the finished product but impact the longevity of the build and the efficiency of the home. How can I ask a builder about these things?
I'm planning to have a thorough discussion about this with my builder. What we decide will be detailed in the contract. This is the last place I want to cut corners.
