Can't believe such a top Chess player, probably the second greatest player of his generation after Magnus, is conducting such an awesome podcast. This deserves more subscribers.
A regular person telling a story is like a factual scroll with machine written letters. When Yasser talks about old phone books and parking space you can still feel the soul frequencies radiating out of him and then he adds some extra-dimensional memes from the future as he speaks and you just feel relaxed and happy.
Christian needs to learn not to interrupt his guest so often. A few times Yasser was right at the crescendo of a very interesting story when Christian would stop him and make Yasser stop or switch lanes. But overall the podcast is very good you're both learning as you go. Best of luck.
I agree. He needs to let the guest have the spotlight. He would also do well to wear some pants. Take a lesson from Johnny Carson. An interviewer should always dress to impress.
If this is actually gonna be a consistent weekly podcast with amazing guests like Yasser, it will be absolutely incredible for chess. Magnus has appeared on some podcasts and there are a few chess focused ones but this is the best Ive seen by far
@@a_doggo Not true. Fabi mentioned 2 greats books which he likes: "The Road to Chess Improvement" by GM Alex Yermolinsky and "Pal Benko: my life, games and compositions" by IM Jeremy Silman. I can warmly recommend both books: their are great, both for the chess content and the anecdotes.
If you had Yasser every second episode, I would still want more of him. What is this, the third episode of the podcast, and its already my favorite. Keep it up, this is amazing.
Yasser is so interesting. The way he became a top player, studying because he wanted to play better and better people until he finally got a chance to play and beat the best players in the world, is kind of nuts. Also Yasser can naturally fill up a podcast with just his stories, barely needs the others lol.
1:08:00 Thank you so much for mentioning my late great friend GM Igor Ivanov, who once beat Anatoly Karpov when Karpov was world champion; then defected to Canada; became Canadian champion; then moved to the US where he died of cancer. He has been missed.
I am completely enamored with Yasser. I hope you make him a pillar of this podcast. We NEED as many of the Yasser stories as he has. His history recall and story telling is remarkable.
I loved this episode. Yasser is probably the best chess storyteller in the world. You guys (Christian and Fabi) are doing an amazing job with this podcast. Keep it going.
Yasser Seirawan is the #Goat of chess teaching!! I have been reading his books on and off for more than a decade now!! I have bought almost all his books!! Thank you for teaching me the basics of chess!!! ❤
I've wanted to hear reminiscences by Yasser for a long time. Thank you guys for having him for an interview. And I don't think that I would be alone in wanting to see more interviews with him sometime in the future. His stories about older generations of historical chess players is amazing-- he can yarn a tale as they say!
Yasser is such a gem, he gives me such a Fred Rogers vibe, just being himself unapologetically to show other people that they can be themselves and be happy.
loved every bit of it. its so refreshing to listen to stories beyond the chess board. it gives so much personality to not only the players but also the game itself. really gives extra life to the game.
Yasser and I are almost the same age. I played chess as did he in the Bobby era. I could listen to his stories forever. Great guy. This podcast should be put in the chess hall of fame.
Excellent interview. Wonderful accounts by Seirawan. Fabiano offered a lot of interesting anecdotes as well and Cristian's question moved the interview in interesting directions. Very high caliber interview.
This was the best chess podcast ever! Yasser is amazing, so is fabi and cristian, we all hope for more podcasts in the future. (More with Yasser would be preferred imo)
My god, this was a feast of chess culture and great stories. What wonderful people these three are and what fascinating people that were these chess greats.
The two hours went by in a flash. Thank you Yasser, for your brilliant stories here, your games, and your commentary. Just want to let you know how much I appreciate your books accompanying me growing up and learning chess - I remember being infected by your very same enthusiasm here for the game that came through in your writing, and still have wonderful memories of my parents driving me to the country's biggest bookshop two hours away, buying me my trusty copy of Winning Chess Tactics, me taking it with me to road trips and chess tournaments, and the wonderful smell of the pages as I revised each tactic. Thank you!
Every North American school-boy knows; they want to be sitting around Yassers camp fire when its story time. I love Yasser's stories. I also want to applaud the program concept brought forth by Grandmasters Fabiano Caruana and Cristian Chirila. Im a big fan. Ill be keeping up with this channel. #fantastic
Big mistake by you guys to invite Yasser as early as second episode. He’s by far the best storyteller in the chess world and it just won’t get any better🙂
I think it's funny how the different generations communicate. I know they mean nothing by it but they keep interrupting Yasser and not letting him finish his thoughts. Anyways, Fabi and Yasser are the hero's the world didn't know it needed. Quickly becoming my favorite podcast. Keep up the good work guys!
Hello people of UA-cam I know it might see like this sort of chess vibe was from a another time, but I assure you, it’s a great scene OTB nowadays still, with the same things Yasser was talking about. It doesn’t really matter how old you are, like I have a lot of chess friends that are a year older or a few years younger. It’s also a really nice community where everyone is respected, even if you’re not that good. Obviously those who show up more become decent, and probably get more friends, but it’s welcome for everybody. Really recommend the scene if you live close enough or are interested enough in the game.
Walter Browne, Jack Peters, Shirazi, Ivanov, Duckworth, Ozdal, Lone Pine, Lina Grumette, Larsen, Korchnoi and ping- pong……I want to hear more of Yasser’s stories.
Hearing Yasser's whole story with thoughtful questions and asides was awesome. And Fabi's playing Staffords on Tilted Tuesdays. With all the stuff getting exposure through the Hans drama, this is the dark horse for sure. Quality.
This podcast is so amazing, honestly! For many years I always wanted to see more content from Fabi, precisely in that area of personal life, thoughts, etc. Now that this podcast is live with Cristian and people like Yasser are being invited, this feels like an incredibly good thing for the chess community and fans overall. Yasser is such a great storyteller, I can't wait for his second round. Thanks a lot, guys!
I friggen love Yasser. He's so humble, almost to a fault, and has great stories. And you two Fabiano and Christian are class acts. I still can't believe Fabiano does a podcast. As a modest enjoyer of chess it is wild to me that after Magnus you have Fabi and Hikaru who both do content creation alot more than other top sport athletes. Love it.
Very nice, Yasser is so fantastic! Christian, you are too, but please let the person interviewed speak, It's very annoying people not beeing able to get to the point. Getting that down this will be one of the absolut best chess podcasts!
This is incredible and unique chess content and a wonderful bridge between the 3 protagonists forming a unique intergenerational perspective. We see the shift of the significance of the Second from a boxing coach coming into the ring between rounds to a 100m dash coach cheering on from the sidelines with the advent of technology and changes in rules and regulations. We get the contemporary, top level chess narratives and references from Fabi, while Yasser gives a deep insight into the camaraderies chess revolved around, the nationalistic brotherhoods type of head-to-head challenges mirroring the political sphere, and you get the same sense regarding how chess organization mirrors contemporary liberal ideals today, namely the significance of the individual chess player, and Cristian has a wonderful way of prodding at the perfect questions to bring out the best of the entire conversation!
Can't believe such a top Chess player, probably the second greatest player of his generation after Magnus, is conducting such an awesome podcast. This deserves more subscribers.
even Magnus has a podcast: The Magnus Effect
but yeah this is awesome
I like how you used "probably"
It's episode 2, it takes time lol
@@swopnilkalika2184 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_effect
Yasser has got to be one of the most likable and story-filled GMs out there!! Bravo, guys.
and plastic with that fake smile
To bad there aren't some Soviet legends around anymore, like Korchnoi or Spassky, who's still alive, but...
If u are a weak man that likes to be dominated , sure. Are you gay?
I can spend hours listening to Yasser's stories. He has the perfect personality and voice for stories and really knows how to tell them :D
A regular person telling a story is like a factual scroll with machine written letters. It's true though, he does kinda transcend national boundaries.

Yaseer = lots of smile.🙂
We need Yasser part 2. He's like the grandpa with awesome stories
Yasser’s stories need their own UA-cam channel. Thanks for interviewing him!
Christian needs to learn not to interrupt his guest so often. A few times Yasser was right at the crescendo of a very interesting story when Christian would stop him and make Yasser stop or switch lanes. But overall the podcast is very good you're both learning as you go. Best of luck.

And worst of all he interrupts with questions that are way ahead of where the story is. Just listen bro
I didn't feel like this, but I can agree they are still learning the ways of interviewing.
Just watched this for the first time and felt the same. Went to the comment section to state the same thing!!
Horrible manners.
If this is actually gonna be a consistent weekly podcast with amazing guests like Yasser, it will be absolutely incredible for chess. Magnus has appeared on some podcasts and there are a few chess focused ones but this is the best Ive seen by far
Man these young guys have no clue how the70’s were😂! Thanks Yasser! Educate these youngsters!
@@douglaslegvold9215 lol and they havent read any books either, i guess that might be the downside to all these online resources
This podcast felt like one of my classical OTB games where I look at the clock and wonder how the time flew by so quickly.

Probably the only 2-hour podcast I've listened to where i wished it went on for another 2 hours. Great job hauling in Yasser!
Right? I saw, 'oh, it's two hours, well, I'll probably watch the beginning.' Two hours later... damn, I hope they do a follow-up!
Idk of this sounds weird. But Yassers voice is easy on the ears.
Yasser needs to come back. It feels like he barely started talking LOL.
If you had Yasser every second episode, I would still want more of him. What is this, the third episode of the podcast, and its already my favorite. Keep it up, this is amazing.
Here before this podcast blows up to the moon…
Yasser makes me feel like a child listening to his granddad's stories. I'm entranced with fascination whenever he speaks.
