I paid about $185,000 for my house in rural Michigan. It's 2,000 square feet on ten acres. I relocated here because housing is so affordable. I would've never been able to afford a home in Massachusetts where I came from, or Dallas for that matter after seeing this video!
SO CRAZY! Love these videos too and we’re looking to buy our first house in Ohio. Just go compared we’re looking for ~1500-1700 sq ft, 2-3 beds, 1.5-2 baths, on .5-1.5 acre. For all of that here the average is more like $175,000. Just crazy how location can change pricing to drastically! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to seeing more💕
I don’t know if you are from dallas but if it’s listed as Highland park west it has to be in the city of Highland park which makes a HUGE difference, especially what schools your children will be zoned in. If they said it was highland park and it wasn’t then your kids would be in DISD. I do a lot of business here since we are based here in Dallas and work on peoples homes so myself and my husband (Dallas Native) have ALOT of insight into the Dallas market. MIDWAY HOLLOW is coming up and a lot of new builds popping up. Inwood area is great too.
It's alot, but I'm from Dallas, and it's always going to be exspensive when your that close to dallas, you should totally show areas outside, more 25 to 30 outside of downtown, I think those are the ones people outside of texas are used to seeing when they show those side by side comparisons of what you get for the price. I want to buy soon, so I love these videos!!!
This is definitely a sellers market. 500k or over for these homes seem really high. I live near Charlotte on the NC/SC boarder and you could get a mini mansion for those prices.

It's true that every city & state has different price points, but man! 500k is a lot of money for those types of houses compared to where I'm from in Michigan! 🤪
West side of 75229 you can get a 3/2 to this day for 250-350. that's what we ended up doing after the sticker shock in richardson and the areas around white rock lake.
I know the house you are talking about in Preston Hollow. My bestfriend lives on that road. The empty lot was a home that had to be demolished from the tornado that came through a year ago. It totally damaged the house and it was unsalvageable. The poor family didn’t have lost everything because they didn’t have tornado insurance. It was a really sad situation. That’s a beautiful area though.
This was so fun! I think it'd be really cool to go a bit west and look at some of the homes in Fort Worth (although I'm a bit biased as that where I'm from :) ) West Fort Worth has some gorgeous older homes and I know a lot of folks are flipping them.
I think the houses were very pretty although somewhat small for the prices. I live just north of the first house but still in Dallas. We have no backyard but a small patio instead which wouldn't be great for a dog or kids. We moved here 2 years ago and the prices have definitely gone up, can't believe they will stay that way. My advice is try to get a garage because of hail storms. Also private schools are very expensive so try for a good school district. I love this area. Very convenient to restaurants, shopping and Eataly!

Soooooo small. I couldn’t imagine buying a 2 bed 1 bath home for that price. When I was looking our requirements were 3-4 bedrooms, at least 2 toilets, two stall garage. We started looking in 2018 when it started turning to a sellers market and we didn’t actually buy a house until December 2020. In that time we had to raise our budget by 80k bc prices went up that much in that short time.
These are a lot nicer than what is for sale for 400-500 in Phoenix right now 😅 houses that were normally like 200-300 are 400-500 it’s insane. Like no updates, carpet from the 90s lol
Oh I am so so excited for you guys to be officially house hunting!! My boyfriend and I (not religious sorry 😞) bought our first home last year in England. We got a semi custom new build home, with a 3 car drive, fully detached with detached garage, 4 bedroom, 2 and a half baths for £250,000. This is north east England which is one of the least expensive (and most beautiful) areas! If I had any tips for you I would say things like tile, furnishings, even windows are relatively inexpensive to change. Flooring, doors, structural changes and any outside work is WAY more expensive! Have a really solid list of NEEDS (maybe 2 each) and a more flexible list of WANTS. It is so exciting but also so stressful! We chose a new build because we couldn’t even get any of our “needs” in older homes here. We’re so so grateful we chose this option, we saw our house be built brick by brick and we’ve truly made our house a home in the short 5 months we’ve been here 🥰 cannot wait to follow along on your journey!! 💕

Maybe I am a modern junkie, but I loved #2 and #3 the best. And I feel the 2-bed situation would be fine with me when I first move. (Even if I'm planning to have kids.) When my family and I outgrow the space, my plan would be to rent out the space as Airbnb. But I guess that's just me lol.

This is so crazy! My husband and I built a home that we moved into once we got married (don’t recommend building while planning a wedding lol). We built a 1,906 sq foot new construction in a neighborhood. 3 bedroom, 2 bath, all brick home, very large yard in the front and back. $197,000 when it was all done! We live in Southern Alabama about 15 miles from the Florida line in what is a pretty large city in Alabama. So these homes for $500,000+ that were so much smaller and older SHOCKED me! Lol very thankful for our budgets sake that we don’t live in a major city!

I was originally looking in Farmers Branch, which is beautiful, but ended up moving to South Dallas. OK so its not the best but you should look in Bishops Art because that area is worth the money and super beautiful!

Michelle Reed it’s definitely more pricey in Canada where I live in Vancouver you can only get a small apartment for 500k 😅 but in Saskatchewan and less populated provinces 500k can defs get you a nicer house than the first one you showed haha

Wow! Dallas is expensive. I am hoping to become a flight attendant and be based out of DFW because we currently live in Wichita, KS. We bought a house In November 2020 for 180,000, 2,125sqft, pretty good size back yard with a deck. Looking at the homes you've looked at for 499k makes me so anxious. Looks like I'll be a commuting flight attendant for a while haha.

I love cities but my husband and I can both work remotely so I could never justify it I don’t think! They were so cute though and I’m sure very accessible to lots of things!! Oh housing has gone up just about everywhere, whether it’s renting or buying, especially in AZ. It’s crazy right now. The rent has almost doubled when it comes to single-family homes.
I know this is all relative to wages etc in the USA but these homes would sell for over 1 million in Perth, Western Australia. House prices are totally crazy in Australia and we have all just accepted it and gotten used to it. Most homes on the market within 10km of the city are selling for more than 100 grand above asking price. Maybe I should move to Dallas…

With how much home prices have gone up in the past year, I would be interested to see how much the conventional loan limit rises. Most of these homes are sitting around that limit.

It’s highest price in a decade. So in my opinion, you should wait one more year. During summer, it’s usually expensive.
