I do the TrackMan version. It highlighted a very big gap in my partial shots that I was unaware of, and that now sets my practice agenda. I’m improving markedly.
Great video Matt i am going to try that at the local range 👍🏌... i love to see a video on you working on those left misses. There is soooo much content on slicing the ball and not much on pulling/ hooking the ball 👍🏌
I've had fun with all of the modes. This just seems to a combo of the Driving and Approach challenges, which were points based instead of Strokes Gained based. The other part I have come to enjoy about the TopTracer is the virtual golf. Get a few buddies and go play a round on a course you'll never get to see.
Thanks for the video (warts and all!) Not many top tracers around where I live, but do sometimes venture out to one to get stats - wasn’t aware of this feature before now so definitely giving it a go next time!

Definitely a good tool for analysing your game. Played this myself today and was surprised. 1st half much better than 2nd half but came out pretty accurate in the end for what I believe I play off.
Good video Matt, TopTracer is the best thing to happen to driving ranges, it's transformed how I practice and I'm glad to see them adding more great stuff like this.
Good video Matt. I played Toptracer30 earlier this week. I’ve never had a formal handicap so this was a great way to get an idea of where I am. It was very informative.

Interesting tech. I'd find it a little difficult to use as I'm a very visual person. Imagining the computer layout with the position of the targets and hazards on a driving range would be challenging!

I'm so jealous that TopTracer doesn't have a single range within 300 miles of me where I'm at in the USA. This forces you to use the range like you should by practicing with intent and a target! Great video as always, Matt!

Played it last night, great app to help figure out where to put your focus.
I played this earlier in the week. My handicap reduced considerably on the third attempt. 33, 35 and then 23. On the third attempt I was playing the game more, aiming down the right of a fairway if there was water or out of bounds on the left, just pitching down the fairway when I have 230 yards to the pin rather than trying to hit my 3 wood that probably connects 1 in every 4. All are a fair reflection of how I play. I probably hit low 100s more often than I hit low 90s.
My nearest Toptracer doesnt allow golf bags so you generally only take alternate clubs. Half a bag in your hands. Wonder if it’s the only one in the country😮. Probably affect my performance

only been playing golf for 3 weeks just on a range. Played this game and got a HCP 27 :( was more surprised that thought my driving range (220 yards) would be my problem but was actually my irons and approach play. At least know where to improve.

Kind of had the army march going on the driver Matt...left right, left right!. Is Top Tracer technology common in the UK at driving ranges? I see you and Rick Shiels both go to driving ranges with this technology. Not something I see in my area of the US except on indoor simulators.
Is this the same as top golf? I’m new to golf

I tried the TopTracer 30 challenge at out modern facility near us and after the 30 shots it said to me I needed to take up swimming instead of golf.
Had a go at this yesterday it’s class 👌 current playing hcp is 17 but this gave me an 8 💪

Hey Matt I have a question for ya I'm a 5 handicap and I took a lesson from my club pro and he said to switch my swing a lot of my playing buddies say why switch what's working for ya. I swing halfway between Jim furyk and Matt Wolfe it's a unique swing. And it works for me.what's your take on this
I think you should focus more on a fundamental swing.
I wish there were places like this near me. Unfortunately, I'm not driving 4 hours to do so.
So I watched this video then went to the driving range and scored 48.7 although my garmin said 30, next time was 54+, I've rencenly been in a golf school and applied your break 100 tips and just shot 22.1!! Leaving the driver in the car and using my 3 wood off the tee is my best idea and hit more fairways the same distance (200-220m) as my driver

Do you think they have this game at the TopGolf locations? Sounds silly to ask.. but there are no ranges here that have any tech in them that are usable.
Tried mine today ended up with 15hcp pretty happy with it.
Great video... this refers to "your first round" would you really use driver on your second shot out on the course?
I don't think in any of your videos playing on a real course have I ever seen you use driver on a second shot.
I'm only 3 mins into the video, but I don't think doing that will give an accurate reading on your h/c if your using driver 2 shots in a row, as that's not something you would usually do.
you are not playing holes, just specific shots, it's not asking you to drive 2nd shot, it's giving a shot from a tee as second shot to determine handicap

I don’t know how accurate the yardage etc can be, as most range balls have been overused :-(

I'm intrigued by this, but had a question. How do you get past the picking you target on the range and the completely different image on the screen?
I think I'd struggle
Pick a target that you are comfortable with on the outfield. Say the flag 150 yards directly infront of you. This will become your target line / aim point. Once you start hitting shots by the time your ball is sailing over the target you have chosen you will be engaged with the screen watching your ball hot the fairway or green (hopefully). If the wind is off the left you can either AIM left of the target you have chosen OR adjust the AIM on the SCREEN. I prefer to aim left and allow the ball to move with the wind back onto the target. Toptracer technology traces the BALL and you play the conditions on the day "just like being on the course with regards to wind conditions" I hope you enjoy your next visit to your local Toptracer venue

Hi Matt, I'm watching you in preference to LIV and LET DIE. At the risk of inviting abuse, how would you rate the quality of your warm-up today?
I did eventually watch LIV. A text was screened late in the day Rd 4 by the CEO of LIV- GN telling us as it stood his tournament had none of the look or feel of an exhibition. About 30secs later one of the anchors says: "this has become an exhibition".🤣

Good idea but !! Hitting of a range mat is not the same as turf interaction, 👍
Cool feature and definitely could be good for a lot of people at the driving range rather than just smashing it. But in terms of a true reflection of handicap it's not realistic
True, it's nonsense. I'm a 2 handicap but my mates off 8-12 hit the ball further and often better than me. However, I never 3 putt and I get up and down around the green at 75%. Chipping and putting is 60% of the game.
Dont feel bad Matt, we can't all be good at golf...😄
The only problem with this is it doesn't take into account chipping and putting which is about 60% of the shots you play. So, the handicap it generates has little bearing on reality.
I like Toptracer but I found the distances it gave me to be a bit optimistic. I haven’t heard of any 23 handicap players hitting a 9 iron 160 yards, imagine my surprise when it said I could.
I'm happy to hit mine 120! Especially if it's straight :-)
I have had the complete opposite experience, irons being decently accurate to what distances I play on the actual course but driver and longer clubs being way to short. Having a rang ball carry 220 meters on an uphill range and only getting a corrected carry of 200 seems really odd

I'm in the top 10 at a lot of challenges at my range, going to give this ago this weekend and see where I get to.

Why is it such a big gap Matt?
Question: Why didn't you go to your 3 Wood when it was obvious that something was off with your driver that day?...is that not allowed in the game?
I'm not positive on this but my guess would be the loss in distance using 3 wood over driver. The different may not be as big of a deal with say you or I (I'm playing at an 11 hcp) but for Matt it's likely 35 - 50 yards. Plus, if it's telling you to use driver and you're not maybe it wouldn't be as fair as a representation of ability, perhaps? I'm just thinking out loud, but you bring up a great point. When I'm on the course and my driver is letting me down (or should I say I'm letting down my driver) I switch to using 3 wood or 2 hybrid off the tee. You would think the accuracy gained would help make up for distance lost!
You can use which ever club you want for any shot. I certainly hit my 3 wood instead of driver off the tee a couple of times.

Only carry driver 240. Yet in the simulator you’re 300 circa. Do you set the atmosphere on it low or something. Big differences. Something not right there.

I think the new world handicap system is flawed in so many ways…so many people have handicaps that are to high and some have handicaps that are to low. Without being harsh from watching your course vlogs, you aren’t a +2 handicap. Also you seem to be a little bit unrealistic how far you hit your clubs, again something you wouldn’t expect from a +2 golfer
Given over half of most people's shots are putts its not really worth the LED its written on handicap wise
HC is a terrible way to judge someone's game. I could play a local muni with a rating of 69, shoot low 70s from one up tees and get down to a 5. Or play a course with a harder rating where you shoot 82 and it's an 11. Anti-Handicap is a better way to judge someone
Seems like any poor shot costs at least 0.5 of a stroke whereas a great drive or stiffing it on the green gets a measley +0.1 or less ?!
I played it with a 30 handicap (I know shocking...) and it is a bit more balanced.
I guess at those levels bad shots costs more to recover.
Yes. That is because he put in a +2 handicap which says he is 2 shots better than perfect for a round of golf. I put in a 28 handicap and I could easily be + or - 1 or so.
This tracer 30 game is stupidly inaccurate, apparently I'm a +54, iv never even gone over +30 on a course, ever and the course difficulties is silly, coz who plays the hardest and narrowest course on a daily basis I land just off green in real life and it shows me as out of bounds for not even 10 yards off line
You should start a competition with your subscribers. Winner takes you on in real life.
What about the balls that you were using there? They've probably been hit/leathered by driver about a million times, ran over by the mini tractor that picks them up a thousand times and made into ovals 🤣

You guys never hit enough club. 9 iron from 165 , 6 iron from 215!! Really!! Lol
You should be on tour with those averages. Hit more club in to the green and you accuracy and consistency will be much better.

I'm a much better player on toptracer than IRL. Perfect lie for every shot makes a big difference
