Solid advice. Got a Concept Wood MC with Varify arm (magnetic). Runs through a Lehmannaudio Decade into Synthesis Nimis (tube integrated class A) into Wilson Watt Puppies (DIY). Sounds amazing for a sub 10K system.
Great review on UA-cam on a turntable. I'm so happy I've found your channel. I'm currently starting to do videos on my turntable build and videos like this help inspire me with ideas on things I may need to change. Happy new subscriber. You have a great channel.
I’ve got a vl12 & a sl1200 mk5 . Both are really good tables. My issue with the vl12 is the flimsy tonearm. I’d love to see an old 1200 tonearm replace it.
I'm getting the DC with Carbon arm and Lyra cartridge.. I use Spectral Amps. Spectral pre-amp with Wilson Watt Puppy 8 speakers.. MIT interconnects and speaker wiring.
It looks beautiful, and the build quality is undoubtedly top shelf. I only question how you know that the platter speed is spot on and, if not, how would that be adjusted? I like when a turntable has speed control. Thoughts?
While you would have to get tools to verify the speed, there are 3 adjustment screws on the back of the TT for each of the speed settings that can be adjusted if needed.
Wonderful. Thank you! are these tools easy to find and purchase? I assume that we're talking about something to point at the platter like a small strobe light with a digital reader.
Tough call. This one is less dynamic but smoother and fleshier. The Rega is more dynamic and exciting. Either decks weaknesses can be countered by cart choice
Need to hear what your thoughts are on TT mats Kevin. I know its a sore spot for many but had to ask an honest guy. I have a VPI Scout 1.1 with a Nagaoka MP500. I am using a factory mat with the record clamp. I am constantly tweaking the VTF and VTA to try and get the best possible sound. As of now, I can't sit and listen to more than two albums before i have to turn it off. I've been looking at mats now. The Clearaudio Platter Mat and the Oyaide BR-12 Turntable Mat. Some VPI owners say "no mat"..........what are your thoughts...........thank you
Stop tweaking and just enjoy the music, that's my advice. Once you understand that you're never going to achieve that sound you've imagened in your head you will just allow yourself to enjoy the sound you have.
I find it funny that Kevin says "we'll keep you on the sunny side of the street" because I'm pale skinned and always cross the street to be on the shady side.
I bought a concept and within playing about 20 records the speed suddenly just wouldnt go on 33 . The shop said when they got it it played a little fast and have not had any problem after several tests . WTF is going on . Any ideas ? concerned i got a dud . What you say about build quality .
There are many ways to make and different kinds of product called "plywood" . It's not all the same . You would agree all cars are the same , wouldn't you ? No?
I'm so glad I found this channel! The way Kevin breaks it down is something you don't see anymore! Big ups guys, you're doing it right!
I used to have a project debut. Since about a year I have this Clearuadio concept with the Maestro cartridge. Difference is night and day.
Solid advice.

So, am I supposed to get the platter parallel with the tonearm? Or with the c clamp? Thanks Kevin

@@Tnapvrvideo there are iPhone apps which can accurately tell you turntable platter speed.
Fantastic! Thank you!
LONG LIVE 2 CHANNEL!!
thanks man!
Is the satisfy black the same arm as in the Marantz tt15s1?
It's not just a cheapo plywood plinth. It's a 'layered' wood plinth. Hooks the suckers every time.
Clearaudio or VPI and why?
Is this Clearaudio Concept a better choice than a Rega P6?

@@tomwebb7091 do either have inky black back ground

Did not hear a word you Sad... my eys was fixted on the table behind you. Brand and name pleace ?
between the clearaudio concept and the RP6 which one would you recommend?
@Piotr Konieczynski there are lots of people still using rega planar turntables from the 70s with barely any maintenance done to them!
This or rp6?

Wich one is better Mara to tt15s1 or this turntable?

This or the Marantz tt-15s1?
Marantz better tonearm and cartridge
I don't know 'bout you guys but I prefer to use technics turntables. I like the lines on the side which shows you the rpm.
Guess you don’t like Rega Planar 6. This is same price
"cement"! Forty pushups.
Layered pieces of wood...so a plywood turntable? Well OK then.
