Not really. His kit, in reality, is pretty simple (not at the same level as Jinhsi, Jiyan or Xiangli of course), but you have to learn his tricks to improve his performance as much as you can, more than any character in the game. That's why many players say he has the highest skill ceiling in the game
A character where you need a specialized trick to perform at base level is high skill floor. A 3DM Calcharo perfect quickswap is still slightly below a Hypercarry Encore w/ Sanhua. It is bad for him.
Calcharo has been my absolute main since the game's launch. I was hyped for him even before I started playing, and was over the moon when I pulled him off of the beginner banner. Even to this day I think he's awesome and one of the main reasons I enjoy Wuthering Waves. Testing him out as a Hypercarry or Dual DPS with Yangyang and Changli, clearing holograms, even the top floors of Tower of Adversity, he's just like anybody else: you just need the right team. I play tons of Xiangli Yao, and I admit that in many respects he is objectively better-- more skill translates to better performance only in an ideal world, so just being a harder character doesn't mean Calcharo gets to be better. And that's ok, if somebody can't play Calcharo, they don't need to announce to the world how bad he is.

The good thing about this game is that once they add him to illusive realm and give his base kit a shakeup , a lot of people will latch on and enjoy him to the fullest..... They just need to own him , and give him a half decent broadsword and baam , you can enjoy a run or two as our resident sephiroth. Imagine they release a new echo 5-set that gives : +liberation% +2s liberation duration And a featured Crit% broad blade that gives pure atk% or increased liberation% instead. Imagine
Yeah I think there's alot of approach the devs can take with the echo set. Instead of healing bonus, could be +HP, or maybe one that depletes Armor Bar faster, etc
Let me just say that Calcharo plays like his personality; hella misunderstood, but he's actually a very sweet guy. 😂 Irregardless, I love him, I play him, and I hang out with him (yes, I treat every game like Animal Crossing. xoxo)

I'm a skill issue Calcharo main as well. I watch videos from a UA-camr named Anxious and learn from them. They make Calcharo/Yinlin and Calcharo/Changi videos. I've improved alot since "studying" their rotation guide
After I got XY I rarely used my Calcharo again but recently, I start to pick him up again on ToA. He can still solo tower if you can adjust to his complex movement but the hard thing is, in solo, you have no choice but to either tank the damage and let the atk in and try to survive with half/less HP or dodge and risk losing all stack of his forte. It really challenges my ability to memorize all the enemy's move sets so that I can play him without losing much damage and dodge/ parry perfectly, especially his heavy attack that is prone to go to waste if you hit it too fast or you end up dodging mid animation. He is not easy to play, that's for sure, but the satisfaction when you are able to use him well is massive. It's such a waste to not use him after all the work to cook him into such a cool character
But why do we have to suffer that much to play a character? Playing Calcharo is a lose/lose situation, if you don't dodge, you'll die from enemy's attacks and if you dodge, you'll lose your forte, your resonance liberation time wasted, and if you quick swap you lose the buffs. Can you explain me where is the satisfaction on it? Besides, by the footage of this video, his numbers are not even close to Xiangli Yao's
@@carlosalvarezruiz9351 the satisfaction comes when you can clear it even with the hardest character to play. You just need to get good at playing. Using Xiangli Yao is a no brainer, my XY basically ult 200k every time that it's getting boring, even tower becomes too easy. Danjin S6 solo can be better than Calcharo I'd say. That's why playing Calcharo solo at least makes me feel more challenged in this game, that means I'm getting good at timing and paying attention to enemy atk pattern. For a hardcore player like me that's fun, for casual player I'd say it's a big nope. I'm happy that I'm good at the game, that's the satisfaction.
Ye. Calling a character bad just because you might be a Genshin player or come from Genshin doesn't mean the character IS bad -In other words: skill issue is not an opinion-
I'm definitely in the minority and you got me spot on I love DMC. Cilantro also reminds me a lot of the Hunter class from Phantasy Star Online 2(base game, not new genesis). Their weapons were very slow but could pump out some good damage. You had to learn how to dodge, parry and learn boss fights to know when your best windows for attacking were. Extremely satisfying to play. So for me Coriander is a natural fit since I enjoy high skill ceiling game play. His "slow animations" are super over exaggerated and have never been a problem for me even at day 1. But the thing is people aren't going to give him his flowers because the gacha market is inherently casual and gacha players for the most part want instant gratification. I've been playing gacha games for years and any game that isn't just auto play, these complaints flood in. Unfortunately this is a battle that can't be won. Please tell me people don't genuinely believe that spamming basic attacks should make you able to parry. I want to believe that this is not a real complaint...the game literally teaches you in the beginning that parries have a window. I don't say this often but that is just not valid. This is basic game sense. This is what Jiyan does to people LOL. If true, that re-affirms my statement on gacha players.
I’d not play him at C0 and don’t like quick swaps. But at C4 his power comes back to CBT. Without swaps stacking his signature, forte and chains buffs will output damage over 80k with single RL strike. Currently I have on him around 400k dmg per rotation. Not the highest but at least he is playable.
Apparently Calcharo’s best team is a dual dps team with Jinhsi which I find very cool bcs Calcharo mains still get to use him effectively with Jinhsi while also using Xiangli Yao with Yinlin. Showcasing that Jinhsi vs Yinlin vs Zhezhi as Calcharo’s 2nd teammate would be a cool video

Ngl even though I got s1 Xiangli Yao and s0 Calcharo from a double, I was actually working on building him bc I find him cool and even if he isn’t the best, that was enough for me… now I got a 40 pity s2 Xiangli Yao and am convinced Wuwa wants me to main him.
I wish they release the game on ps4/ps5. So i can move playing from my mobile phone😂 tbh its really hard playing him on mobile phone while i mastering changli and chixia in only 5 try. Maybe i should give him another try before they really release the game on consol. BTW thx for the advice give me courage to continue building him while he's on Lvl 8 talent rn.
As a day 1 calcharo user, I will be honest, even with all the calcharo combo's that help mask his e's animation into something more fluid and the fast way to gen 3 DM , he just can't compare to xiangliyao. I really am hoping shorekeeper might be able to help maybe make using calcharo easier for the tower so he get's less slander.

His number are the problem cause the over nerf from the devs, it is what it is. Hope they fix his number and lingyang's, like they do on some pgr older characters
Their damage is not as far as each other like the community think, it's just that Xiangli deals his damage way more easier than La Cucaracha. And agreed, Shorekeeper's auto dodge (as far as I know she still have that feature) might help Calcharo with his DM's long animation
@@bimantoro17 imo Calcharo deserves better multipliers to compensate for his inherent difficulty compared to Xiangli Yao such that he'll be a little worse when played casually but a little better when played properly in a quickswap team. Alternatively, keep his multipliers but make it easier to access his potential.
People that complain 99 % that he cannot clear don't have him level 90 with Talants level 10 and don't have good weapon ! One of my DPS is Calcharo maxed with Jinshi Weapon and He clears Left electro Tower Solo

I love calcharo I use him with xiangli yao and yuanwu, personally I'm a husbando lover so I'm enthusiastic on working on male characters even if they are complicated and my calcharo uses verdant summit since I never use jiyan and calcharo at the same time. And calcharo being permanent means that we will get his copies eventually in the long run

Yeah but that's the thing, while i acknowledge that calcharo is not unusable as he often is portrayed to be. It is important to mention the ceiling for him to be useable at a level that other characters just exist at, Obviously Jiyan and jinhsi are just objectively better but then you look at other dps units that have lower skill ceilings and perform at calcharo's peak if not even better then him like Changli, Xiangli yao, encore or rover. He is certainly Useable and able to clear TOA but his placing in tierlists as a mid tier is Very much deserved and well placed as everyone above him is better, and everyone in his tier performs about the same.
Not rly if u check out the update log in prydwen, they ranked him down because of his skill ceiling and said that his dmg is still Tier 1 And his dmg is ranked over havoc rover rn and i can confirm that btw i have both on equal lvl and calcharo is faster, If u can manage all his mechanic Also Encore is only faster with stringmaster

the fact that solo linyang works means calcharo isnt far off at all, this game really showed me that investment reaps its fruit anyways earned a sub from me, glad to see folks who dont get swayed by community just cause they cant make a character work, +500 respect
I guess partly it was in beginning everyone recommending to get him as your 5 star ticket choice. As a aspiring player, who wouldn't like a walking DMC reference whose combat looks like a god of thunder in havoc. Then reality hits when player themselves get to feel the gameplay. Hence the disappointment.
Tbh i think calcharo is fine I would like to get stacks for dodge counter but thats it I think he is pretty good on long term cz his constellations are pretty nice and give a nice dmg boost Over time u lose more and more to calcharo (and the others) while for example my yao will stay at s0-s2
Im hoping that lumi contributes to Calamba laguna's team dmg buffing. Im still pissed about his liberation lasting only 11 secs and dodge counter not stacking his forte
i love playing calcharo, i understand why people say he's clunky and I get that bc I felt it too. i mostly have a problem with his 4th auto attack that does a downward slice and slide backwards with the sword. that one feels weird to his atk pattern and feels very weak
Try to use 2 atks and use dash then, use 2 atks again, dash, atk again -> DM Trust me, once u learned its very easy and u get out 3 DMs pretty much every rotation
Thumbs up if you gave Calcharo a 5* weapon, promotional or not, only because the man deserves it 🙋♂ (or if you're still trying to get the 5* standard weapon for him, like me)
I feel like Calcharo being "difficult" is just, like, Kuro's style, in a way that PGR isn't made to be chill (IYKYK). Is he for everyone? No. Is he still a hella sick and cool character? Absolutely.
Cool video, but I think the main problem with calcharo is that he feels like he isn't made for quick swap gameplay, while someone like changli does which makes her gameplay feel more smooth.
@@itssenpai626 yes I agree but it seems like to me that Kuro did not exactly want him to be played in this way with the changes they made to him on-release which makes him feel a bit unsatisfying to play, but Changli was fully intended to be quickswap which is why she feels smoother and easier to execute than Calcharo TLDR; Calculator can play quickswap but that was not what they were intending with his design, while with Changli that is what they were intending
@@anisnissa All characters (except Jiyan 😭) appears in the event at different hours. There's a page with all the spots and hours to take a selfie with them, and even talk a bit with Calcharo and Danjin Cal's dialogue in particular it's a bit hilarious xD
Idr if it was you or another creator, but they also mentioned that you can cancel his I drop I think by hitting jump as he lands to initiate a roll which is quicker. Also the videos that I've seen where they talk about his problem don't give good solutions. There's only been 1 creator. Gave a lot of good buffs that could totes happen.

my Calcharo dmg compare to Xiangli Yao is pretty similar both 5* weapons ofc it jsut that Xiangli Yao is so much easier and comfy to use but still i always used my Calcharo to Cleared Tower. mine still S0 once my Calcharo is S3 S6 he will outrun Xiangli Yao for sure, lmao
There is no doubt that dmg wise calcharo is on the same lvl as the other dps (except Jinhsi) but with how high his skill floor is (really short burst duration), how bad his QoL is (lengthy animations with no res to interruption, even if yes swap cancel exists) and his technical issues (resonance skill not giving forte sometimes, not being able to get forte from the attack following a dodge...) he ends up not being worth it for most players. Tbh if it was "only" a case of being challenging to play he would be quite loved like danjin but he has so many flaws while he doesn’t really reward playing him successfully as his dmg is merely on par with the other 5 stars dps.
Nice try try Diddy. It's good that you enjoy playing him, but he needs to be fixed before he is actually worth using in endgame content. I use him for farming only because he's the coolest character in the game by far, but that's about the extent of what he's good for. Xiangli + Yinlin + Verina/Shorekeeper is the current best electro team and it's not even close.
@@itssenpai626 inferno rider. I do duo clears and with yinlin/calcharo it's not winning in my case and it's 1-2 chips which is my run at best, probably huge skill issue. Compared to the last tower though which was scar, it was pretty doable with like 12 secs remaining for that 3 chips. With yinlin/xy though, I mean it's xiangli but with 0 remaining seconds on the timer, like at exactly 3 min mark. That's with s1 btw. But I don't know I'm not sure. There could be a lot of factors that affect the run especially the tower buff rn cause you need healing so Junrock is mvp
@@j-aalex I think I’ve experienced this in the previous tower with scar. He was suspiciously resistant to spectro when I was using my Jinshi team. Perhaps the same thing is happening with inferno rider but resistant to electro
The activation effect of his skills are basically sh*t . like you need first to trigger his forte effect before going liberation which is basically took to much of time and add those activation effect from t.m. which will take you almost 10secs and leave you around 4 secs to maximixe the dmg of liberation. The if you have to activate damage boost from your sub dps theres almost no way you get the maximu. dmg output of the team with calch as main dps. Unlike the counterpart powerhouse xiangli just pick lingering tunes and a good liberation booster sub dps and go berseck 😂
His e is lame, his mercy is lame, his inherent skill is also lame and you have to work your ass off to fit 4 DMs in a tight 10s ult duration. And a dodge will ruin everything. Basically, he is the symbol of “work harder, not smarter”

I want to believe that this is not a real complaint...the game literally teaches you in the beginning that parries have a window. I don't say this often but that is just not valid. This is basic game sense. This is what Jiyan does to people LOL. If true, that re-affirms my statement on gacha players.
I’d not play him at C0 and don’t like quick swaps. But at C4 his power comes back to CBT. Without swaps stacking his signature, forte and chains buffs will output damage over 80k with single RL strike. Currently I have on him around 400k dmg per rotation. Not the highest but at least he is playable.

Apparently Calcharo’s best team is a dual dps team with Jinhsi which I find very cool bcs Calcharo mains still get to use him effectively with Jinhsi while also using Xiangli Yao with Yinlin. Showcasing that Jinhsi vs Yinlin vs Zhezhi as Calcharo’s 2nd teammate would be a cool video

Ngl even though I got s1 Xiangli Yao and s0 Calcharo from a double, I was actually working on building him bc I find him cool and even if he isn’t the best, that was enough for me… now I got a 40 pity s2 Xiangli Yao and am convinced Wuwa wants me to main him.
The moment I discovered that BA2 cancel "hack", Calcharo basically put my Xiangli Yao and Jiyan in vacation ahahaha

As a day 1 calcharo user, I will be honest, even with all the calcharo combo's that help mask his e's animation into something more fluid and the fast way to gen 3 DM , he just can't compare to xiangliyao. I really am hoping shorekeeper might be able to help maybe make using calcharo easier for the tower so he get's less slander.
@@stevenzhao1561 I agree Xiangli yao does higher damage than him but he can still clear even the most difficult content with the right support. You can do even better by playing them together in the showcase I provided. The video was meant to highlight that his flaws are exaggerated by the community
His number are the problem cause the over nerf from the devs, it is what it is. Hope they fix his number and lingyang's, like they do on some pgr older characters
Their damage is not as far as each other like the community think, it's just that Xiangli deals his damage way more easier than La Cucaracha.
And agreed, Shorekeeper's auto dodge (as far as I know she still have that feature) might help Calcharo with his DM's long animation

@@bimantoro17 imo Calcharo deserves better multipliers to compensate for his inherent difficulty compared to Xiangli Yao such that he'll be a little worse when played casually but a little better when played properly in a quickswap team. Alternatively, keep his multipliers but make it easier to access his potential.
People that complain 99 % that he cannot clear don't have him level 90 with Talants level 10 and don't have good weapon !

Lovely video! I love calcharo I use him with xiangli yao and yuanwu, personally I'm a husbando lover so I'm enthusiastic on working on male characters even if they are complicated
and my calcharo uses verdant summit since I never use jiyan and calcharo at the same time. And calcharo being permanent means that we will get his copies eventually in the long run

Yeah but that's the thing, while i acknowledge that calcharo is not unusable as he often is portrayed to be. It is important to mention the ceiling for him to be useable at a level that other characters just exist at, Obviously Jiyan and jinhsi are just objectively better but then you look at other dps units that have lower skill ceilings and perform at calcharo's peak if not even better then him like Changli, Xiangli yao, encore or rover. He is certainly Useable and able to clear TOA but his placing in tierlists as a mid tier is Very much deserved and well placed as everyone above him is better, and everyone in his tier performs about the same.
Not rly if u check out the update log in prydwen, they ranked him down because of his skill ceiling and said that his dmg is still Tier 1
And his dmg is ranked over havoc rover rn and i can confirm that btw i have both on equal lvl and calcharo is faster, If u can manage all his mechanic
Also Encore is only faster with stringmaster
Yao is great for mobile users.
Cal is great for PC users.
That's it.
This opinion is unreasonable because all the characters will look good if you play on PC.

Calcharo is easier than most people make him out to be, his difficulty would be like 3/5
I guess partly it was in beginning everyone recommending to get him as your 5 star ticket choice. As a aspiring player, who wouldn't like a walking DMC reference whose combat looks like a god of thunder in havoc. Then reality hits when player themselves get to feel the gameplay. Hence the disappointment.

i love playing calcharo, i understand why people say he's clunky and I get that bc I felt it too. i mostly have a problem with his 4th auto attack that does a downward slice and slide backwards with the sword. that one feels weird to his atk pattern and feels very weak
Try to use 2 atks and use dash then, use 2 atks again, dash, atk again -> DM
Trust me, once u learned its very easy and u get out 3 DMs pretty much every rotation

Cool video, but I think the main problem with calcharo is that he feels like he isn't made for quick swap gameplay, while someone like changli does which makes her gameplay feel more smooth.

@@itssenpai626 yes I agree but it seems like to me that Kuro did not exactly want him to be played in this way with the changes they made to him on-release which makes him feel a bit unsatisfying to play, but Changli was fully intended to be quickswap which is why she feels smoother and easier to execute than Calcharo
TLDR; Calculator can play quickswap but that was not what they were intending with his design, while with Changli that is what they were intending
There are people saying Jiyan is bad, yeah, so I'm not surprised. And also, there are lots of people hate to learn new things.

Idr if it was you or another creator, but they also mentioned that you can cancel his I drop I think by hitting jump as he lands to initiate a roll which is quicker. Also the videos that I've seen where they talk about his problem don't give good solutions. There's only been 1 creator. Gave a lot of good buffs that could totes happen.

my Calcharo dmg compare to Xiangli Yao is pretty similar both 5* weapons ofc it jsut that Xiangli Yao is so much easier and comfy to use but still i always used my Calcharo to Cleared Tower. mine still S0 once my Calcharo is S3 S6 he will outrun Xiangli Yao for sure, lmao

There is no doubt that dmg wise calcharo is on the same lvl as the other dps (except Jinhsi) but with how high his skill floor is (really short burst duration), how bad his QoL is (lengthy animations with no res to interruption, even if yes swap cancel exists) and his technical issues (resonance skill not giving forte sometimes, not being able to get forte from the attack following a dodge...) he ends up not being worth it for most players.
Tbh if it was "only" a case of being challenging to play he would be quite loved like danjin but he has so many flaws while he doesn’t really reward playing him successfully as his dmg is merely on par with the other 5 stars dps.
Maybe Kuro will fix him in a future update?

It's good that you enjoy playing him, but he needs to be fixed before he is actually worth using in endgame content.
I use him for farming only because he's the coolest character in the game by far, but that's about the extent of what he's good for.
Xiangli + Yinlin + Verina/Shorekeeper is the current best electro team and it's not even close.

@@itssenpai626 inferno rider. I do duo clears and with yinlin/calcharo it's not winning in my case and it's 1-2 chips which is my run at best, probably huge skill issue. Compared to the last tower though which was scar, it was pretty doable with like 12 secs remaining for that 3 chips.
With yinlin/xy though, I mean it's xiangli but with 0 remaining seconds on the timer, like at exactly 3 min mark. That's with s1 btw.
But I don't know I'm not sure. There could be a lot of factors that affect the run especially the tower buff rn cause you need healing so Junrock is mvp
@@j-aalex I think I’ve experienced this in the previous tower with scar. He was suspiciously resistant to spectro when I was using my Jinshi team. Perhaps the same thing is happening with inferno rider but resistant to electro
sub dps not exist yet.. too many main dps need to build first haha
The activation effect of his skills are basically sh*t . like you need first to trigger his forte effect before going liberation which is basically took to much of time and add those activation effect from t.m. which will take you almost 10secs and leave you around 4 secs to maximixe the dmg of liberation. The if you have to activate damage boost from your sub dps theres almost no way you get the maximu. dmg output of the team with calch as main dps. Unlike the counterpart powerhouse xiangli just pick lingering tunes and a good liberation booster sub dps and go berseck 😂
