I'll always love Sonny but his shows just don't hit like they used to, dont get me wrong I like he has been exploring new genres, I know it helps him grow and not be confined to just 1. But the reason I think the energy was so big back then was the fact everyone and him were putting out dubstep and harder hitting drum and bass, and the genres were very new, some of it could be helped in this case if he wanted to make a huge comeback with an album that's been taking forever, and some can't be helped.
This shit is more mature. I like his mix of old and new stuff. This is def my favorite skrillex. Idc what anyone says.

I know people change over time, but you can tell when he played all of his old stuff, or the harder dubstep that Skrillex is known for, the crowd reacted well. The other stuff he played the crowd wasn’t really vibing with. If I could go back and see a 2014 Skrillex set, I’d end my festival career right there.
Seems to be going to a more relax vibe with less of a gritty bass. Watch this and the Avant Gardner set from 2021 and the differences, particularly the first half are pretty noticeable.
I saw Skrillex in july 2012 and it was one of the greatest set of my life. At this point, he played « Make it Bun Dem » and it was still an unrealeased ID. Just after the Bangarang album too. What a time it was. Way, way better than what I’m seeing right now.

I can appreciate both. Don't think we should hold him to music from a decade ago. It'd be amazing to see his current stuff live.
