Great transformation Mr Wallace . The handle the sheath top work. Nice Ball Pen Hammer and I don’t think it’s from the other places you mentioned 👍 take care
You remember the Stag Puma Hunter fixed blade. How much for that look 1095 carbon. I love that steel. I had a good friend in Jax Fla that was a knife maker. Johnny Bowie was his name I was trying to let him teach me then he passed from heart issues God rest his soul. Good luck thanks.
Very good work Mr.Wallace and I would like to one day have you make a Bowie Knife like that design for myself and soon will be contacting you about the fine work you do so I can have a Natchez type knife by you. 😊
I would be interested in a small edc fixed blade with a super steel like 3v , S90v or Magnacut with mosaic pins and a nice leather sheath . Is that something you would do? Maybe even priced with a damascus from Chad Nichols or Vegas Forge?
Which would you recommend to a future customer . . . having you make a knife from scratch that is similar to the Natchez or having you rehandle a factory Natchez?
Hey Mr. Wallace! Do you have to do anything special to prep the horn for staining? Beauty as always. You are a true master knife maker one of the few I have seen that won't use inferior materials. Thank you for the video. Sorry it took me so long to get here. Take care!
Hey George, Thanks! I just wipe them down with rubbing alcohl, very lightly, dry good, and stain. I leave it for about 5 minutes,to soak in,then wipe it off with a clean cloth. !
Thats a very old school design , CS just put that...iffy...cable tang mess mess on it. They said its for balance as a fighting knife, BUT when your knife breaks its hard to fight with it.. Would you want to be dealing with a wild hog in a God forsaken emergency with that? I wouldnt. That goofy cable tang and HORRID sheath was nothing but skimping to save money in the manufacturing process
Mine is VG1 SAN MAI made in Japan beck when they first hit the market. I would much prefer a knife like the CS Laredo Bowie with a handle made of really good hardwood, full tang like this here tho. I have a USA made Carbon V Trailmaster, circa late 1980s that was given to my by a dear friend who is now gone. I have used that thing to split more shake wood kindling than you could carry in a wheelbarrow, built shelters, started fires, tent stakes, game processing within reason (its not a hunting knife, but you can get the job done, you'll probably have a smaller knife on you somewhere for those applications anyway. Needless to say, excellent SD knife if heaven forbid it ever came to that.
Another problem with this knife is not only do you need a heavy high quality sheath, but in my case it needs to be reinforced at the tip and in the center welding VERY well. I am disabled and I do NOT want to be worse off when or if I fall and that short sword goes into my leg😂 Good knife but should've been built better. Its too much knife to cut corners. Well done!
Sir those Cold Steel bowies look so much better after you put your attention to them
Good job sir I'd be proud to own it with the job you done looks great. Good luck on the next one.
Very nice work as it came out beautiful.....Nice chat about the cost of your work as good info.....Good stuff....
Very nice job - craftsmen like yourself are thin on the ground these days - a job well done .

If i was going to pay to rehandle and sheath that bowie i would have absolutely done it with the 3V model.

I find it interesting that you are going to use AISI 4140 for a knife, since it's an industry standard gun barrel steel. It should be fun.

Make from scratch for sure. Thanks for watching!
@@wallaceknifeworkshomestead Down the road when I have some cash I'll definitely have ya make a custom bowie. You do fantastic work!

You should put the strap on the spine side to prevent cutting
Maybe should have placed the rivet on the back loop. Great looking sheath, it will do the job from now on.
Another masterpiece, good work buddy. Rangers Lead The Way.
Thanks Ranger!! Good to see you!
Great job! Would you consider that a frame handle now? It seems like a similar setup to me, but I'm not sure it's exactly the same as a frame handle.
Well, Yes and no, I call it a full tang, much better for sure!
Purdy...
I always wondered why Cold Steel doesn't wake up and build the Natchez and Laredo with a full tang.
It's reducing manufacturing costs somewhere, sure isn't to balance the knife or any other nonsense like they say on forums.
have you made any old school bowie knives before?
Yes. Lots of them!

Can you make a Bagŵellesque helles belle?
I’m not betting against you Wallace.
