kayvon is a player who flashes throughout a game. not a guy who’s gonna be an effect nearly every play but can change a game. hopefully he does well with the giants
Here were the notes I took as I watched: "Average get off. Bull rush to get OTs off balance. Will use a spin move. Has a swim and club move. Right end but played some left end. Can play the run decently well. Hands are active. Wouldn’t call them heavy. Not double teamed much. Played stand up, hand in dirt, two hands in dirt. Can’t overpower double teams, relies on his initial burst to pressure QBs. Does best applying pressure from standing up. Have not seen him drop into coverage once. Dropped to side and covered a back out of backfield at stand-up RE. Played out wide often. Doesn’t play to the whistle, only decent hustle. Uses long arms to get linemen off balance as his first pass rush move. Convert speed to power. One sack out of two came on swim move as DT up the middle. Two down D linemen set. Rushed as middle backer on one play. Feasted more on LT, who seemed overmatched. RT was better at stymieing him. WSU took advantage of his aggressiveness to run at him or away from him."
“Average get off”? Dude, that’s so absurd that literally no one who does this professionally has ever said that.
Hands “are active”, but you wouldn’t “call them heavy”? Bro, are you even watching?
“Have not seen him drop into coverage even once.” And there it is. Clear, indisputable evidence that you either haven’t watched very much, or haven’t watched well. Is it something he does frequently? Of course not. Why would his coaches to do that?
My god, the shit people are pulling out of their assholes with this guy. 🙄
no
@@KR-uk1mz Oh, we'll see.
#5, Kayvon Thibodeaux
Positives
- expect violence, because you’re gonna get it
- absolute unit; thick, powerful upper and lower body; the absolute prototype from a physical build standpoint
- strong as an ox; bench presses offensive lineman with ease
- hands are constructed out of brick
- next-level elite burst off the snap
- silky smooth athlete for his size
- plays with great leverage
- awesome long arm move
- rushes with a plan
- tackles with bad intentions
- football savant; extremely bright and knows it and that can intimidate/frustrate less intellectually secure types. Needs to get with a head coach and organization that has a deep appreciation for and knows how to weaponize that cerebral greatness.
- the angrier he gets the better he plays (e.g. Cal 2021)
- knows what it’s like to play with high expectations and a lot of pressure; has been “The Man” for a long time now and doesn’t shrink from it
- plays very hard, despite some nothing burgers thrown out there about him taking plays off by people like Todd McShay (which they haven’t backed up by showing actual visual evidence to my knowledge)
- did I mention how much this dude wants to tear your head off on the field?
Negatives
- can bend well enough, but not the bendiest you’ll ever see
- very fast but there are faster out there
- sometimes a little over-aggressive crashing down in the run game and giving up the edge
- shows evidence of being an actual human being by getting tired occasionally (is this what they mean by “taking plays off”?)
- has a bit of a mercurial streak in him; probably more sigma than alpha but I don’t see a real problem with it that transfers to the actual field of play
Grade: top 5 pick all day, every day and twice on Sundays; #1 on my big board
@ 5:55, absurdly obvious hold that wasn’t called
6:18, introduces the guard to his new profession: backwards stumbling
Not a Pats fan but just imagine if Bill Belichick got ahold of this guy. A guy this smart and this talented at that position? Oh my goodness. We’re talking good night NFL if that somehow happened.
@ 2:59. That’s Abe Lucas. I have him as a plug and play RT with a 2nd round grade. Someone told me that Abe Lucas “dominated KT every time they played”. Bro, if that’s “getting dominated” I’ll take getting dominated all day.
@ 3:21 puts Abe Lucas on skates and ends up at the feet of the quarterback. That’s pressure. That’s a win.
Puts his ass again on skates @ 5:13. And then shows the relentlessness.
He dominated he would better in the nfl if he is only doing his assignment. If you have eyes you can see he was double teamed and still pressured the qb into sacks and bad throws. Dominate pass rusher for sure could contain in run better yes.
If his one and only move doesn't work he is completely useless
@@Slye-Jr. Trent Baalke, is that you?
@ 4:50 look at him own and reset the line of scrimmage against his man on the goal line. That’s power. That’s a beast.
@6:51, one of the most obvious holds you’ll ever see. Doesn’t matter. Too good. Relentless. Gets home. Good night , Felicia 💤
@ 8:08, another insanely explosive rep
It’s hilarious cause I was dissatisfied with his performance. But he played great lol
He made a lot of mistakes, especially in the run game
@ 4:12 tears the LT a new one and forces Borghi to cut it back. Another example of his so-called “average get off” 😂
@7:14, the kind of thing that gives guards ptsd
Great player but I have some serious concerns with his pursuit on the run
Complete and utter domination from start to finish. Play after play after play.
Talk about the silly season. Stop the 🧢 on this guy.
Motor problem? Not seeing it here. What I am seeing is somebody who’s consistently an issue for the other team.
The 'motor problem' people see is him playing on a high ankle sprain with a bad shoulder all year.
@@drewnayr1188 Good point… and true.
@ 9:15, that’s about as good as it gets against the run. This is against Lucas again-a huge, powerful, athletic man.
Don’t single him, that’s all I know!
@ 1:40. Someone on here says he has “average get off” lol. That’s a hell of an average!
Its wild I can see his highlights and think the Myles Garrett, and Chase Young hype he has, but when I watch entire game tapes I don't see it. I don't know if its a motor problem, a stamina problem, or if he's just flashy here and there, but it really is hot and cold watching him. I hope Detroit is confident with who they pick. Detroit is all about effort, Hutch seems more on script (with a BURNING motor every play), but what do I know, I'm just a dude in Florida.
He has a hard time finishing a lot, I think. He has this great move and then he can't bend around the tackle to finish and get to the quarterback. He just doesn't have that flexibility.
KT was also playing through injuries all season he had a high ankle sprain and a shoulder injury if I’m not mistaken
He has crazy upside especially because of his getoff but he's not consistent and gets manhandled sometimes which feels weird (I feel like he needs to add more base strength or fight to hold his leverage better sometimes at least). He shows flashes and ability of using his hands well like in a ghost arm, swipe, or rip, that really gives him high end wins as a pass rusher and he can shoot gaps as a run defender well.
I think hes just better in that 2 point stance.
@@Zerske Yeah I can agree with that too, he can rush the passer and his get off is better standing up
Here in NY he also should be standing up most of the time in Winks defense
Look at those hands @ 0:55!
He's good but you can't build a defense around this guy. I feel he'd be really good on a teams like the Raiders, Browns, Steelers, or Broncos. Not Lions Jets or Jags
Am I the only person not as high on him ?
No, I agree with you.
@@stilgar2007 he’s good no doubt but I have Hutchinson, Hamilton and Neal as better prospects personally
@@alexmatthewsiv4310 Who is Hamilton & Neil ????
@@eagleeyeappliancerepair3511 Kyle Hamilton (Norte dame) and evan Neal (bama)
no welcome to the club I don't see the first overall hype.
They took advantage of his overpursuit in the run. He also relies on his pure physical ability while pass rushing a little too much. Definitely fixable in the NFL, but top 5 pick? Not so sure
Bro Washington State was holding all night and they weren't calling it. Also Oregon should have hit the QB on at least like 7 of those passes.
He gets held virtually all the time. Because, frankly, what else are you going to do?
Only has one move, Aidan Hutchinson is a much better player and has more pass rush moves. It's just a FACT.
hutch is the better player for sure. kt wins because he keeps his outside arm free a lot and he is strong as hell, but hutchinson's arsenal is so deep it's hard to argue for thibodeaux
Yeah AH is a technician. KT might be slightly more athletic but honestly not by much. Rather take the more polished dude. Cant go wrong with either guy
Actually the statement he only has one move is complete nonsense. Watch more closely.
Hutch is a great prospect too. No hate at all from me for Hutch. He’s a top 5 talent. But something that a lot of Hutch fans need to learn is that it’s ok to love Hutch without bashing KT with completely made up shit. Capiche?
