@@IronHorseRailways no. I've got the bachmann all green deluxe coming too. I will compare them all, including my current 21pin one, which I've upgraded big time and even has a working fan like my class 24 as well
I really like dashboard and engine bay lights, roof fans too, it adds to the realism in my opinion, I’m sure modellers share your view, the price of locos is very high especially Bachmann, Accurascale offer value for money in my opinion, great video, thanks for sharing.
Great video - got one on Ordinary BR Blue in 2nd batch crumbled - hopefully arrive for Birthday 2024, seems like right decision; although still like my BR Intercity Class 37 from Bachman.
Great overview Craig, thank you. The inclusion of any extra electronic lighting details is so inexpensive to produce that the manufactures cannot possibly ask extra for it. e.g. dash lights, engine room lights etc. It does make the loco more interesting, flexible and therefore sellable. The addition now of a built in stay alive is a fabulous and necessary new base standard a far as I am concerned (Bachmann take note!). The sheer annoyance of locos cutting out because of a slightly dirty patch or on a point needed addressing. This is especially necessary with sound locos as they can stop and then have to go through their entire engine start up procedure on every instance of a temporary power disconnection. I didn't think my stay-alive was working until I tried it on a short section of spare track, unconnected to the main layout. It needs a minimum voltage to start charging of around 13.5v. Under that voltage and the capacitors don't seem to hold any useful charge. It gave about a second of motor/sound and lights, about 3 seconds of just sound/lights and about 9 seconds of just lights on. My main gripe, other than the widely experienced erratic motor running on numerous Accurascale loco models, is their fragility, on both their locos and other rollingstock. Bits just keep falling off, even arriving with a few bits loose in the box sometimes! Some parts can be poorly glued on too, grills and footplates etc. Other parts are just too fine and fragile to be sensible on working models and so easily get knocked off. They need to be more robust. Bachmann seem to have managed to solve this conundrum and produce detailed and strong models that don't shed their parts. I'd say that the Accurascale class 37 still just beats the Bachmann on the grounds of its sound/speakers and sound file being better and by having a built in stay-alive, otherwise they are fairly comparable, both being really great models. As you said though, why the hell don't they pre-fit a driver in all their locos? This needs addressing by ALL the manufacturers. Regards Julian.
Thanks for getting involved Jules!😊 The stay alive function on my model isn't working - I've had plenty of experience with stay alives before now and some thing here is a miss! - not to worry though, Accurascale are all over it 😊 Cheers bud!
