Yes, it is really cramped on the A330 neo of 5J, most of us Filipinos were not that tall so legroom is not much an issue. I took the same flight roundtrip and yes, its not that comfortable and it doesnt help that the seats dont recline. For the price, you can't beat them as long as you get a cheap one. (Its almost half of the other carriers).
That was a very educational video about the reality of flying BUDGET AIRLINES. I will only fly budget on short haul of less than 3 hours. If I have to fly over 4 hours on economy (not budget) I usually choose aisle seats. On international long hauls, I will reserve if possible middle row aisle seats. I will only choose window seats on short flights or on premium economy. Comfort is paramount on long hauls. Feeling refreshed and not feeling mauled upon arrival is the best way to start an excellent holiday experience.
I've flown Manila-Melbourne on the 5J A330 a few times. I don't mind the seats but I'm only 5 foot 7 inches (171cm). A bigger problen is they deleted some of the toilets which can mean a long wait at times. Can't beat the price though.
Hi, Jack! I'm a Cabin Crew of Cebu Pacific Air. Our A321CEOs have charging ports which can be found at the lower part of the seats (lower right side for 33A seat), positioned differently from the NEOs. Hope you had a good flight though and hope to see you onboard soon! Safe flight always!
I'm going on the same flight in a couple days! But I arrive at terminal 2 Dubai, how long does it take to get to terminal 1? I have 1 hour 50 minutes layover, will I make it in time? I checked in online and only have hand carry luggage
You forgot to mention that the seats are pre-reclined so that the seat in front does not impinge on your seat space. Without pre-recline it would be cramped. I'm surprised that someone of your flying experience, could not allocate yourself a seat at the rear where the seats are in two's. easier to get in and out when you are a solo traveler like myself. also around 60% of the time I have an empty seat beside me. I've travelled regularly from Melbourne to Manila on the A330-900. the extra seats are made possible by cutting the rear galley space in half removing a row of toilets and making toilets smaller, Mel to MNL is around 8 hours. I have no problem with that.
The Philippines has millions of citizens working overseas to support their families. Getting to and from those jobs as economically as possible is crucial. Both Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines do a great service to their countrymen by doing whatever is required to keep the prices down. And the average Filipino is maybe 160 cm so the legroom is less of an issue.
Thank you for an honest review. This will help people decide if the Cebu Pacific option to Dubai and back Manila is a real option for them considering the comfort.
Thank you for acknowledging the great crew and efficient boarding process etc. Thank you also for understanding that for some, this is the only way of affording such journeys. Cebu Pacific satisfies a need for those who need to fly for work etc. For many OFW’s it’s a cheap and efficient way of returning home to the Philippines to see their families without breaking the bank.
We flew the Dubai - MNL route rcently and thankfully the flight was half full, and we manged to each get our own row. Even with that, it was uncomfortable but bearable due to less people. I can't even imagine how it would be with a full flight.
Right now the Europe-Asia discount airlines are the mainland China carriers. They sell at low prices and by overflying Russia they can offer shorter flight times. One popular UK vlogger obtained the lowest LHR-BKK fare by tsking CA via Beijing (normally this would be considered a ridiculous routing).
No. It was a retired UK expat who was visiting Thailand. Like others they seek a good fare and in his case it was Air China via Beijing. Quite genuine as video clips of the journey were shown.
Yes, but only for short haul flights. Long haul? IDK, until I’ll found out while planning to go to Dubai for work. I actually experience Cebu Pacific’s A330 (both the -900 & the now-retired -300). The route was MNL-DVO. The -300 marks my first time flying a widebody plane & A330 in general. The -900 marks my first time flying the newer A330. Despite of you said cramped seats (designed for average Filipino height), no IFE (like what AirAsia X had), or other reasons, there is a good expericence on that flight: there’s a ‘guessing game’, friendly crew, and a merchandise (abiet expensive).
100% agree. I would not fly Cebu Pacific further than Japan. My back started hurting nearing the end of a 4-hour flight MNL-NRT on their A330-900neo and A321neo. I was really craving some seat recline.
Don't fly a budget airline so you won't complain. Cebu Pacific is a BUDGET AIRLINE. Cebu Pacific flights from Middle East to Manila targets OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) and not designed for foreigners. Filipinos are resilient and not soft unlike you guys. Cebu Pacific didn't force you to buy cheap flight tickets so don't you dare to complain. Try Air Koryo instead.
I dont wanna complaint about cebu since theyre my saviour but the terminal 3 need alot of improvement about the layout and specially the staff immigration
Thank goodness not yet another UA-camr reviewing first or business class complaining how terrible it is. Cebu Pacific is great for the average Pinoy as they can fit comfortably, but for a big fat American it's not the best choice. However, since I am in Davao PH, there isn't a lot of choices, most of the flights are Cebu Pacific. For domestic 1 or 2 hour flight it is doable for me. I am about to try the flight from Davao to Bangkok of about 4 hours and that will be a stretch for me because I can't stretch as seats are too small. I wish they offered some extra leg room seats for those who are willing to pay more. Oh one last thing, I really can't fit in their toilets, as I am too tall and they are too small.
Honestly, the longest I can last on a budget flight is 4 hours. That's from Manila, Philippines to Jakarta, Indonesia. Anything farther, I opt to pay a much higher fee for at least an economy class on a flagship airlines (Philippine Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, etc). I'm only 166cm, but I find the space limited. At 172cm, that's tight.
Cebu Pacific planes are basically catered for Filipinos who aren't big people. As a Filipino myself but with above average height, my knees already reach the seat in front of me. Imagine that! But then again, these airlines are owned by Chinese Filipino who always ensure they are getting profit from their business!
I flew Cebu Pacific return SYD-MNL at 2018 but after my experience, never again. Too cramped (I'm Filipino, 5'0) and its still uncomfortable for me, no in flight entertainment for 8 hours, and you have to pre order food and luggage so it still near gonna cost as much as Philippine Airlines so I'd just go for the latter, which comes with luggage and free meal, wiht IFE. But their target market is those who opt to travel on a budget or those Filipinos working overseas who cannot afford the more popular airlines. Everytime I go home to the Philippines from Australia, I'd always save up for Singapore Airlines. Great review mate!
Bro I'm 179cm Filipino, I agree cebu pac is quite cramped on the leg room, but I got used to it.I always fly with them, esp on short long hauls. 5hrs was the maximum,. I usually bring a pillow travel neck but fare is Bang for the buc. Aside from cebu Pacific, I also love Cathay pacific.
If anything, Metro Manila has amazing sunset views and a great cityscape come magic hour. Come back to visit for a longer stay. It is Asia's darkhorse 24-hour metropolis. And I can only do Cebu Pacfiic flights domestically (20 USD to Cebu from Manila, can't beat the price), and regionally within East and Southeast Asia. My longest was 3.5 hours between Osaka and Manila. Any further would be torture. I'm 5'7 (172cm) tall, and quite stout.
Thank you for this review of Cebu Pacific, I flew on the A330, and I was actually surprised on how padded the seats were. Also, it’s a shame you were only here in transit, looking forward on your future visit here in the Philippines 😊
