I prefer velvet hangers in the closet as well but will note they collect dust like crazy! I use a sticky lint roller to clean them as clothes are rotated on & off. The sticky lint roller is excellent for quick cleaning lamp shades and upholstery surfaces, too.
I enjoy your practical advice and suggestions. It’s my home and I prioritize comfort over keeping up with the jone's, so this is right up my alley. I also like that you present your material calmly. The whole video is soothing and useful
Great video! One place I have found that non-diffused, ribbed glass globe light fixtures work are from the ceiling in small, usually dim spaces. I put one in my small entryway and also in a small alcove area that is between my living room, bathroom and kitchen. Since you don't look up in these spaces, the bright light becomes welcoming, even soothing. At least, that's what I found. :)
Great video! This is my first time seeing one of your videos and I gotta say I've been watching a lot of interior design videos and I've gotten a little fatigue, but yours felt really refreshing, great points I haven't heard before and really relaxing to watch :)
Yay! All the things checked that I avoid too! I even sold 2 ikea nightstands because of those exact metal legs that go around and on the floor! Such a pain to clean! Same for visual clutter when it comes to too many 'legs' and lines. As well furniture without closed storage. Glass tables? Sold mine 2 years ago after owning one for just 6 months! Thank you for making me feel that I'm not neurotic when it comes to such details!❤❤❤
You are definitely not neurotic for noticing these design details! There are so many of us out there who are design lovers and detail-oriented 😍😍 now we just have to spread the message 😊
This is truly the best, no nonsense, honest home decor advice, ever! I am a mature woman and have experienced many of these items from home to home… And I wish I had this advice many years ago to avoid purchasing or replacing items for instance open consoles, glass table tops and more recently the popular rattan perforated lamp shades.
I find wire candle holders the easiest to clean of wax. Pop them in a warm oven on top of wax paper, and then wipe them down with a rag, once the wax is melted....
Reminds me to buy a lamp for my livingroom 😂 there is only a lightbulb hanging for several years 🤪 I was happy to see the notification of your upload baixuuu 😁😁
In my personal experience I stopped buying those velvet hangers. I bought them because I too was told they were thinner and looked better. However as time passed, they were constantly breaking because they’re made of some cheap material that I could easily snap with my bare hands. I was frequently replacing them, proving the theory that it’s expensive to be poor. At this point the velvet hangers not only look cheap, they are cheap. A few years ago I replaced them with thin steel hangers from HAY, and I love them. I paid more money upfront but because they are stronger and well made I haven’t had to replace them at all. Get some strong-but-thin steel hangers. Hope this helps someone else 😊
I love your channel. You really do provide some fantastic insights! I sometimes struggle to find good quality furniture (I live in the UK) what stores would you recommend? Thank you!💖
UK here. I bought my bed, wardrobe, a large mirror & bookcase from Pine and Oak Furniture. Other items - free standing long mirror, dining table & chairs etc I bought from Etsy. Also found some lovely vintage pieces online - well from the 70's. My sofa was from Furniture Village which is a chain, but very happy with it and its quality. My papasan chair is also great. Robust, unusual and comfy to sit in.
My bed frame is the first item. I HATE it for the exact reason you mentioned. It’s a pain to clean under. You know how a lot of decorating videos mention putting the bed on a large area rug? Again, how do you clean under the bed?
Really like this video. I actually agree with all that you mentioned and have been unconsciously choosing everything that you mentioned that’s good. So it’s nice to see it explained
Oh yes, glass tables are the worst! They're noisy and cold. I would add to your list black countertops, they always look dusty, scratches look awful and you can't find items on them (e.g. glasses on the nightstand). 😅
Your recommendations are really amazing especially now that we are renovating our home to cater to the needs of my daughter who has ASD any suggestions on how to make it more peaceful and relaxing?
Thanks for the nice comment! 😊 I have a video here about how to create a relaxing and calm home: 13 Tips for a Relaxing Home (Psychology of Design & Architect-Approved) ua-cam.com/video/3aW_UJHnFSo/v-deo.html
Liked on the first point itself. So obvious! I struggle with ot too yet it never hit me until u spelt it out, AVOID! I had just though, well we gotta live with it, but oh, no we don't 😂
Oh, those wicker lampshades... I love the idea and look of them so much. But when I finally got to test them in-store before buying (and looked closely at spaces in which I have seen them in action), I realised the shadows would drive me crazy. How do they look so good in photos - are the shadows edited out, or do the rooms have multiple light sources to cancel them out? 🤔 About the multiple light sources, how do we make that work in teeny-tiny livingrooms? Maybe it's a sign that I have too much / too bulky furniture or too much already going on here, but the thought of adding even a single floor lamp or table lamp to my space makes me nervous (it has overhead lighting plus 2 wall sconces). A video on lighting for small spaces would be great.
What is the nicest way to send a friend this video cuz literally in their house everything is leggy and every table is glass (coffee, dinning and even console table) lamps are glass and so much metal
I’ve never liked the modern, thin-metal-frame design style. But I never knew why I disliked it until I watched this video. All the thin lines are distressingly noisy.
Your content is quite unique. I've watched a lot of home decor videos, and you bring up points that I haven't heard anywhere else.
Yay! Thank you!
So helpful, especially when we have a small budget, I try not to waste it. thanks !

Great tip! Thanks for sharing ☺️

Awesome, thank you so much for your kind words 🥰
Thanks! This is very useful! I also hate those perforated lamp shades lol

I appreciate how you give alternatives for the non cozy items!
6:17 glass table - one hand has 6 fingers😂😂😂 I would keep it😅 👍🏼👍🏼
Absolutely love your channel, the ideas you share, your style of editing and speech. Keep it up ❤

We have the same list! I totally agree especially about spindly legs and the globe lights
Your content is useful and the delivery is funny. I love how you list your points. Also, your videos are short and sweet. Thank You!

Yessss I was a bit distracted recently so UA-cam was sidetracked, but I am back!

I just discovered your channel… VERY GOOD INFO you’ve been providing! Really good tips !!

I'm so glad!
Great, I completely agree.
Very useful. Thank you! 🌻
You’re so welcome!!
You are back!
I never wanted to leave !😞 Life got in the way of my videos but I am back and focuseddddd

Totally agree! Saving this video for when I move :)

Very useful tips and I like your lipstick.
Thank you so much 😊
Glass top furniture is noisy and horrifying to touch. Those cane lampshades are horrible
Love your videos and your advice.

So interesting! Thank you Baixu :)

Hi! Yes we can :) email me hellobaixu@gmail.com or message me on instagram @baixuuu :D
Love the Brit Accent❤

Did anyone noticed the 5 fingers hand printed on the table 🤡 😨
She filmed at the house of the six fingered man who killed Inigo Montoya’s father. He must be stopped!
We ride at dawn!

Live without regrets!❤
nice
I thought I was the only person who does not like those wicker light shades... she don't shade. Really over those Edison bulbs 💡 they hurt my eyes. 😢
Wow many items you show that are in the list from IKEA 😂.... I like your videos
yes,you should have your fantastic youtube channel… but, you have such great content … you will have a lot of subscribers.
❤
;ove your sense of humour.
no respectable designer would ever use a clear or no shade light fixture. It defeats the whole point of having a separate feature!
I’ve never liked the modern, thin-metal-frame design style. But I never knew why I disliked it until I watched this video. All the thin lines are distressingly noisy.
Are you a Taurus zodiac sign ?
Thanks
Yess I am! Wow how did you know?
@@baixu you remind me of a friend of mine :)
she is Taurus :))
Edison bulbs: anyone else absolutely abhor them?
