All great points gentlemen. I love Pich’s idea of having someone follow behind Franz when he drives to the basket to get a put back or offensive rebound for another possession. We literally executed the exact opposite strategy we should have tonight with Jarret Allen out. We should have doubled down on getting into the paint and using our size to our advantage. I think the blame falls more so on Mosley for this one and not switching up the game plan when we knew Jarret Allen was out. We could have gotten their guards in foul trouble earlier in the game (which happened with Donovan but not anyone else) and made it way easier for ourselves in the second half as they wouldn’t have been able to guard us as aggressively. Way too much standing around on the perimeter, especially in the 4th quarter. Regardless, the future is bright and even if we lose the next game or lose in game 7, I’m still proud of this team.
Also, I thought Wendell had one of his best defensive games this series, but he just wasn’t asserting himself near the basket on offense, even if it was to just grab some offensive boards.
It just means we get to see this Magic team in their first elimination game, and likely their first game 7. We are having so much fun.
