Got a hold of Sean thanks man for all your help!!!!!! Everyone has talked crap about my sync unit ever since i got it cause its always been unreliable and it wasnt till i saw your vid here that i finally figurd out why it was crap!! WELL for small charge and a self addressed envelope hes sending me a piece of dampering tube!!! Then ill watch this vid again and know how to put it ALLLLL togethor and FINALLY GET TO SYNC MY BIKE!!! YAY!!!! IM EXCITED ABOUT GETTING MY BIKE RUNNING GOOD!!!!!
@skinz1234 You should have recieved one little tiny itty bitty plastic tube with your kit. That tiny tube gets cut into 4 seperate pieces, and they are installed "inside" the tubes that fit between the meter and the carb. Those "carb tubes" are cut about 4-6" (I think) from one end of each tube. The tiny plastic tubes are inserted into and between the short and long pieces of each of the 4 carb tubes. They act as restricters and will smooth out the meter.
Thanks for pointing out about the restrictors , I did not read the manual and assumed to would also work w/o - matter of fact never noticed the transparent little tube in the package. W/o restrictors it's quasi impossible to read the gauging as the Hg would swing up and down crazily.
@Turco949 It never hurts to help others learn how to do their own tuneups. Yes, I love the bag, and the box does it's job, but I wish I had ordered the 90 degree screwdriver at the same time. I haven't had to adjust the air screws on my Tmax yet, but I wish I had the screwdriver on hand when I do.
I love how everyone gets suckered into buying the bag because they state it is on "special" but seriously, get the bag too, well worth the extra money! This piece of plastic box looks like a cheap instrument but it is an awesome instrument nonetheless. I just got one as well a few months ago but just getting around to using it on my VMax. I wonder if I should make a video and put it on UA-cam?
@bigwheelsturning Yeah, if I do a video, I'd make sure anyone can follow it and it would be in detail too but I have to tackle it first on my VMax and get it down well enough to relay the info on to others. Thanks for your video even a simple tip like cutting the clear plastic restricter with an angle to ease the insertion was a smart tip. Little things like that makes a difference. I don't have a 90 degree screw driver either and I hope I won't need it but it'd be wise for DIYers to get one.
@skinz1234 I've never seen tubes that tiny, so I would give Shawn a call/email at Morgan CarbTune, and have him mail you a section of it. It's really tiny, so you may want to go "shaking" the box your meter came in to see if it's still in there. It's about 2" long.
my guage jumps around like crazy!!! wasnt this unit supposed to come with dampers??? how do u read yours? been trying to tune a honda at about a 1000rpm and im totally disapointed :(
I have had one for nearly 5 years. One of the best engineered pieces of Bike kit ever made and easy to use :)
