Jamming with the Cast of "Once": Part One

- www.playbill.co... The Tony Award-winning cast of "Once" might be a little out of the ordinary for Broadway. Not only is the ensemble comprised of talented actors and singers, each member is an accomplished musician, playing at least one instrument over the course of the show. To kick off each performance, the cast takes to the stage - and the audience is invited to join them - for a unique onstage jam session, equipped with a working bar. Playbill dropped in on one such session as the cast tore into a traditional Irish folksong.
This is one of the coolest aspects of this show. Before it begins, they allow you to go onstage if you'd like. While you're up there, they play some classic folk songs. Even the national tour does this.
I was just cast as Reza at my high school and we are doing the same thing!
Great musical! Will Connolly's hair surely was something
This was one of the most magical shows I've ever seen on Broadway.
best broadway production I've seen! i knew it was gonna be great the moment i stepped into the theatre and these fine people in the cast were just jamming out
For the love of god will someone tell me who the two names of the female violinists are??
A bit late, but if you’re still wondering, Erikka Walsh is in the orange floral dress, Elizabeth Davis is in the blue. 😊
I love how the camera just emerges from within will connolly's hair
SO glad to find such a quality recording of this version of RHM. ;w; You guys sound amazing jamming with them!
What a dull audience, they are NOT into it. I'd be clapping along and rocking out. hahaha This is a beautiful song and an absolutely BRILLIANT opening.
@@mlroberts128 I saw the show several times. Even with a drink, I was leg slapping so much it hurt. haha
I was ecstatic to be able to experience this live when the show was on Broadway. Still one of my favorite shows!
Oh. What a show it must have been!
I love this band! my music teacher showed it to me last year, (You know who you are) and now, I'm watching all of their performances! *Thank you Mrs.Lejune*
Yep ... 2022 ... and I came back to hear this ... never gets old 🙌🏻🙌🏻
In 2014, my son and five others were supposed to be group of Irish street buskers, the Derry Heirs, in a drama about three innocent people killed by police during riots in Ireland in the 1970's, "Freedom of the People". Before show start and during interval, they did the same thing and our audiences were really getting into it.
He did see Once but never had the opportunity to get on stage.
LOVED this show, saw these people sing this song pre-show in December 2013 - fantastic!
I came here for one thing and one thing alone
The girl in botanical dress with a violin looks like Alicia Vikander
Never cried so Much during a westend show...perfect!
I saw the show for the second time last night!! Amazing and they did do this song and I knew the words singing along!!
Just pure, BRILLIANT and MAGICAL ❤😮
suck I was just sitting on the chair thinking should I go up there when I went for West End....
I think they're a little quiet, and as a performer I know a good audience can really make a performance. But again, this is spectacular.
Does anyone have/know the chords for this version? I can't quite work it out.
I've seen the show twice, but can't remember this song. Do they change the songs they do in the pre-show?
They usually do. When I saw it the second time, it was different a little bit.
Saw this couple years ago. Great show!
i think i was in the auditorium . my first broadway musical
lol serious! what is wrong with this audience? this is awesome!
happy happy
What song is this?
Red Haired Mary
ummmm ...alright then.
