I rode in those Police Package Novas as a youngster and drove my brother’s ‘77 Corvette. They were NOT gutless by any means. We were involved in several pursuits in the Novas and always kept up with just about anything out there.
This is gotta be the best restoration on UA-cam, thank you for sharing! Hopefully you do you have the chance to restore another police car! Watched this whole series so far in 2 days 😂
Judging by the cleanliness of the inside of the engine, the double roller chain and the cross hatching I'd bet it's a crate engine or already built once. You didn't mention if the bearings and pistons are standard size. Funny how greasy the outside was, but then I've not seen many SBC that didn't leak oil. Two thumbs up.
👍🏻 I’m gonna clean up the block, then pull the rest of the pistons and crank. We’ll measure everything and get a much better idea of the condition of things. Agreed, I think it’s a crate engine as well. I’ll include all this in Part 2. Thanks Terry! Congrats on retirement!!😁

Agreed! So many officers recall how these cars screamed!!!!!
That engine was impressively clean. Excellent video! Happy New Year, bud.

Was one of the guitar players George Lynch?
Unfortunately no. I have to use royalty free music for my videos. Most of the tunes you hear in the videos are supplied by UA-cam.
