Bob you are a master painter I’ve watched so many of your videos I just love it. Now I’m just an old school to me a guys matter fact my first RC car was it to me and I just love it they do so well and thank you so much for these videos
Return visit, great refresher for me, I’m still a TS man but I use a 15 minute window. It’s the tutone that takes much longer for taping off the second color then ts13, after my 72 hour window for recoats
You do awesome work sir, The dump truck is beautiful. I subscribed yesterday, looking forward to many more great videos. Thank you for sharing. Great job.
Hi Bob. I just watched this video...nice work. I do want to compliment you on your communication. I see you actively respond to viewers and interested people. Often UA-cam hosts do not take the time to respond/reply to their subscribers questions so well done to you and once again for doing so..... nice work on the trucks. Mark
Beautiful work, Bob!! 💯👋👋👋👋👋👋 I always appreciate the level of Detail that few of us bother with. The Panel line trim... I'm certain, stands out in person. I just got some Molotow Chrome Paint Pens, I'll be trying it on things like the Door Pulls and Sleeper Latches. I tried something.... The Ruf Lights, I actually sanded the mold seams and Sprue nubs smooth. Then I went over it with the Molotow Pen... It blends nearly perfectly!! It actually looks like CHROME! 👍👍😎
Is there a type of tape I can use to use a guide so I can just paint whatever I need to do without messing up the ready of my paint job? Because I do not have the steady easy hand for free painting.
Very well explained how to lace Thank you very much for this video you have helped me a lot please open branches how you lace and what changes over time. How did you build the exhaust air box that is super? Greetings from Germany
Hi Bob. I have finally received my 770S 6x4 kit and have primed and painted all the TS-58 parts. I am now looking at the semi gloss black parts like front grille and mirrors wipers etc. Should these parts be primed before the semi gloss black paint? 3 years old and this video is still great Thanks for your help Ray
Hi Bob. This is a great video. I have a question about the 0.1 fine line pen. Let's get started 😂. Would that be better between the paint and the clear gloss coats? It seems as if it would get wiped away easily. Thanks. Ray
If you want to hide the marks in the chrome from clipping them off the sprue just give them a dab with a silver paint pen. It's almost, but not quite, chrome. It does hide the small sprue marks very well though.
Have you ever tried Molotow Chrome pens? They are fantastic! Best chrome you can get out of a pen, and they come in 1mm, 2mm and 4mm tips. if you haven’t tried them, get a 1 and 2mm tip. When you touch up clipped parts, you can’t see where you clipped. They are also great for window trim and even chrome accents on wheels, etc.
Great information. It's amazing how some detailing and proper paint job can make the trucks look much better and real. How long do one need to let the paint dry before useing a product like X2.0 ?
Hi Bob, Great job!! What sort of coverage do you get with the 100ml Tamiya Paints? In other words how may cans of pint do you use for a King Hauler body? Thanks.
Love your videos. Thanks for the detailed information. Do you paint the interior at the same tie as the exterior, or do you mask off the exterior and then paint the interior.
Great video! Got a question? I am painting with Tamiya gloss black TS paint, should I use the TS13 gloss clear over the already gloss black? And if so do you have to wait for the paint to completely cure before adding the clear?
Does the Super Clean remove spray paint as well, like if I’m bored my hauler paint job and soaked it will it go to bare plastic like the chrome bits? Love the videos keep them coming
There are some toy type dump trucks and Wedico might still make one but still the best way is to just build one using a Tamiya kit and an RCP57 dump bed.
Yes, you sure can. You can install the electronics later easily. Best to have the servos and ball bearings when you build - everything else is easy to add later.
Super video. I have used Tamiya fine spray primer and Tamiya TS color spray paints on scale models, and I tend to end up with some "grain" in the finish -- not a glassy smoot finish. Does the Tamiya clear help to "level" the finish ? I noticed in the video you didn't do any wet sanding of the primer coat before color. Or do you rely completely on the polishing to smooth the finish ?
Yes, the dump truck is a standard length King Hauler with the ab cut down. I have videos on how to cut down the cab and building the dump truck so check them out!
You need to remove the chrome before painting. Soak them overnight in Super Clean. You can get it at Walmart - comes in a purple bottle. This removes the chrome so paint sticks.
Hi Bob, thanks for another excellent video. I’ve just painted my Globe Liner body, but have not yet painted the clear coat. Question: Do you polish and then do clear coat? Or do you paint clear coat over paint and then polish? Thanks
My experience is not to polish before the clearcoat for these reasons: 1) The polish introduces chemicals that that might cause issues with the clearcoat, like adhesion problems and fish-eyes. 2) Polishing can make the surface too slick for clearcoat to grab. Best thing to do is lightly wetsand with 2000 grit or even 3000 grit to knock off any nibs or trash in the paint job, then clearcoat, and do all your polishing at the end. If painting metallics, avoid wetsanding before clearcoat. Sanding directly on metallics can change the tone and color.
hi I'm one of your subscribers and I just bought a kit for a grand hauler I do not have any idea how to put it together do you have a video step-by-step for first beginners of putting the tamina truck together
I’m looking for someone who can custom paint these plastic Tamiya bodies. If anyone knows of anyone or would recommend anyone it would be greatly appreciated.
I just found your channel.... AMAZING work!! I bought a Heng Tiger Tank and am just getting into these models.. Do you ever make purposely-designed mundane and ordinary super realistic trucks? In other words, your trucks are so good... they look like they belong on a lot for sale. Brand new. I'd like a model that's more like an everyday, nothing special, very well worn truck. I'd like it to have subtle dents and dings, ugly DOT stickers, grime and caked road sludge in the tires and wheel wells, and a few spots of sloppy graffiti, maybe a busted tail light, no fancy rims... like a truck that a company or driver would have with no concern for anything but bare necessity--nothing there to 'look cool' or nice. Just an everyday worn cargo truck. Not even noticeably worn, either. Subtle. Just worn so it looks like 99% of the trucks that I see pass on the highway. I mean, I hardly ever see a shiny new-looking specimen. They're almost always grimy and well used. I'm sure you can do this. And you'd do it wonderfully. But is that something someone could request custom for you to do? Or do you prefer to stick within a range of design styles, like the trucks in this video? As for the base model of truck... the ones here are fine. I'd just want one very well worn and looking like it's been on the road for the last 20 years, as opposed to showroom new.
very nice all those small thing make all the difference.sweet work

Great video! Super clean work!
Great video. I appreciate all the painting tips and what paint to really go with. I'm getting ready to paint a few models. Good job on all these.
Love the video. Job well done on the painting
Wow just beautiful, really love the king hauler . I'll be watching for more. Outstanding work in my book .
They are both really good looking trucks.
Thanks for your video im building a King hauler soon cheers from Australia
The quality is in the detailing! Looking great!

Saw these on the timeline, jus came to drop a 👍 👍
I’ve used the Mica Red, but what I did after primer is add a layer of Tamiya Gold, it warms the red up. Using silver would “cool” the red somewhat.
You do awesome work sir, The dump truck is beautiful. I subscribed yesterday, looking forward to many more great videos. Thank you for sharing. Great job.
Great Video with some super tips, thank you for posting
Rigs look fantabulous ! Thank you for this series . Didn’t start mine yet but I’ll join Facebook Group to show progress
Thanks Bob
Excellent video! Final product looked really good. Like you mentioned - little details make all the difference.
wow bob nice job on the paint i like them both
MOST EXCELLENT FINE WORK SIR 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙

Fantastic job, Bob! Every time I watch one of your videos, I learn little tip/tricks that I can use to make future builds really pop.

Why didn't you do the panel lines before the clear coat? That's how I've done my airplanes.
Thank you for your videos, they have helped me many times!
Awesome work. Your style is so relaxing. Thanks for sharing your talents with us. Stay safe. RCUL8R

What if you did the clear coat after detailing. That would save the ink/paint of the details right.
Bob, Any videos that show any 2 tone or custom paint? Flames or pin striping etc ..
This video shows how I mask and paint stripes: ua-cam.com/video/cQl16kAaano/v-deo.html
Does polishing and waxing make the truck feel smooth to the touch? I just primed mine and it feels rough.
how much was everything to build the single cable dump truck?? how much would you charge?
Hi Bob. I have finally received my 770S 6x4 kit and have primed and painted all the TS-58 parts. I am now looking at the semi gloss black parts like front grille and mirrors wipers etc. Should these parts be primed before the semi gloss black paint?

Ray
I generally do not prime the black parts that I am painting black.
I scraped the chrome off on the air cleaners with an exacto knife. But I had a King Hauler, Black, so the black plastic look good raw.
I'd like to now if you got the fs-st8 on the grand hauler can you show me how to use this transmitter and reciver please let me know.
I plan on an FS-ST8 programming video soon.
nice work I like using bare metal foil on the door handles and trim.
I love bare metal foil also. I use it quite a bit.
the COPIC Multiliner Pen you used What was the colour and size i am building a Mercedes Benz Actos 1561 my first Tamiya and learning a lot Thanks
Another great video Bob. Is the paint booth one you made or one you can buy. Thanks
Production booth (2 hooked together).
Hi Bob. This is a great video. I have a question about the 0.1 fine line pen. Let's get started 😂. Would that be better between the paint and the clear gloss coats? It seems as if it would get wiped away easily. Thanks. Ray
I usually do it last. If it fades you can just hit it again but I also see no reason why you could not do it before clear coat.
Really nice tip's on painting and detail. How did you make the exhaust fan paint booth ???
It's a pre-made booth. I got it on eBay.
If you want to hide the marks in the chrome from clipping them off the sprue just give them a dab with a silver paint pen. It's almost, but not quite, chrome. It does hide the small sprue marks very well though.

Do you wash the parts with dish soap before primer goes on?
Sometimes I do but not always. Does not seem to make a difference.
Great information. It's amazing how some detailing and proper paint job can make the trucks look much better and real. How long do one need to let the paint dry before useing a product like X2.0 ?
I let it dry a few days.
Hi Bob, Great job!! What sort of coverage do you get with the 100ml Tamiya Paints? In other words how may cans of pint do you use for a King Hauler body? Thanks.
I use 1 can primer, 2 cans color and one can clear on a typical truck.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC Thank you Bob!
Hi, if I don't have a painting station, are 10 minutes between layers enough? I'm painting at home, something improvised
Probably. You could always time it a bit longer - 15 or so.
How much do you need to polish it to get the shine you got on the trucks
Neither of these trucks have been polished in this video.
Great ideea with the multiliner to outline the panels.., but what color did you use for this trucks.!?
The colors are noted in the video.
I seen in youtube the rolloff truck look amazing but there is no info on how and what is needed to make it happen.
Always check my video descriptions for more information.
Hey Bob how did you hold down the 5th wheel ?
How much for the blue dump truck
Love your videos. Thanks for the detailed information. Do you paint the interior at the same tie as the exterior, or do you mask off the exterior and then paint the interior.
I generally just spray the interior with a light coat of paint and no clear coat. Hard to see inside in a finished model.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC Thanks Bob!
Great video! Got a question? I am painting with Tamiya gloss black TS paint, should I use the TS13 gloss clear over the already gloss black? And if so do you have to wait for the paint to completely cure before adding the clear?
I use gloss on all mine. I just normally wait 10-15 minutes, or if you don't do it then wait till really dry like a day or two.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC ok thank you so much you have a new sub I dig your channel
Does the Super Clean remove spray paint as well, like if I’m bored my hauler paint job and soaked it will it go to bare plastic like the chrome bits? Love the videos keep them coming
I have not tried not sure. Brake fluid does though.
Doesn’t damage the plastic?
Another great video. Did you complete the dump truck with the smoke unit?
Part 4 of that coming soon.
nice video Bob as usual , where can I find a dump truck kit
There are some toy type dump trucks and Wedico might still make one but still the best way is to just build one using a Tamiya kit and an RCP57 dump bed.
What's the paint # for that blue Bob not the globe liner the grand or king I'm not sure what one it is but that blue is a great color
That is Tamiya TS-58 Pearl Light Blue.
Can I build my truck while I wait for the electronics to arrive and add them later. Or is it easier to just wait.
Yes, you sure can. You can install the electronics later easily. Best to have the servos and ball bearings when you build - everything else is easy to add later.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC Thank you so much for you help.

Usually I only work on the finished paint but sometimes I do wet sand the primer with 2000grit. Depends on how smooth it goes on.
nice video Bob , how many cans of each for the King Hauler with the sleeper ?
I usually recommend one can primer, 2 cans color and one can clear.
Hi bob how much are you going to want for the dump truck
Contact me at jacobsenra@hotmail.com or PM me from the Hobbyconcepts Facebook page.
Hey Bob, when you painted the door handles with the paint brush did you then clear it over the top?
I usually do it after I clearcoat.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC so you then dont clear again over the paint brushing?
where can I find a painting booth something like yours ?
eBay or Amazon
Thank you Bob
What was the that thing called that you said to buy at hobby lobby liner or something ?
Pens for highlighting panel lines.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC Thanks Bob
@@HobbyconceptsLLC do they come in different colors ?
Nice
Hi wow pretty awesome paint job. Just one question, is the dump truck the same chassis as the king hauler just with a modified cab and no fifth wheel?
Yes, the dump truck is a standard length King Hauler with the ab cut down. I have videos on how to cut down the cab and building the dump truck so check them out!
cool beauty!
Hey. How many cans do you use on one truck cab. Paint and clear.
Usually 2 cans color one can clear.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC Thanks! I just need a airbrush station and I'm painting away.
Hello i have a question do you soak the chrome parts before or after you paint them?

Hi is the blue dump truck for sale? How much$$$
Contact me at jacobsenra@hotmail.com or PM me from the Hobbyconcepts Facebook page.
Tamiya do a Black rubber finish paint.
They do not have a paint color called rubber. I usually use Nato Black or German Gray.
Testors makes a color called"Rubber"
How much for the dump truck 💰👍

Can I buy I painted grand hauler cab and fenders from u on ebay
Generally not. If I go through the work to paint a cab I usually sell it on a complete truck.
