The Hopi Eagle Dance. Definitely they are soaring like eagles in the sky. Which the eagle was believed to fly and soar the highest than any other bird. Which the eagle is mainly the messenger that have the prayers and blessings from the people that are send to the creator. I love the beat from the drums and the songs what they're singing.
We dance for social dances an then we have our sacred religious dances. Eventho they are social dances they still are sacred an send out blessing prayer an joy an love
During the Old Town Fiestas in Albuquerque, there was a little dirt nw alcove/alley across from the bandstand area and each year during the 50s, a Father and very young son would come in full regalia and feathers, etc and dance thunderbird and hoop dances. It was absolutely wonderful to see the intricacies of the hoops and movements and song. Thank you for this vid and bringing back wonderful childhood remembrances. Well wishes also to that little "hoop" dancer of the 50s. albq nm
I love the dance, because the accuracy of the movements of the eagle soaring, hopping to a stop or changing positions on the ground, you can really get a feel for it just watching. Takes a lot of strength to do these dances for as long as they do and all the movements. That's what makes these dances so enjoyable to watch, they tell a story in dance.
Thanks for the prayers and blessings. Been a tough year due to covid. Makes me miss seeing the different pueblos and seeing the dances. Hopefully 2021 will be better. Maerry Crhristmas and Happy New Year's folks. Stay safe and west your masks. Let's beat covid. Peace.
Asensio Rodriguez Yes, they are. That's why they called this the Eagle Dance, the meaning behind the dance is to honor the eagle spirit, which it's also a prayer for rain to water their crops. They're Hopi.
I got to see a Golden 🦅 (BIG BOY) vs Osprey in northern New Mexico a couple of years ago. In the Rio Grand gorge near Taos. It flew right over us at one point, because I guess the osprey didn't think he'd come near us. BOY WAS HE WRONG!!! 😂 ...It was one of the most spectacular things I've ever seen. Never touch the eagles 🐟! 😂
