  • Well, it’s been a little over a year and 120 hours of use so I figured it was time to show the firm in a little bit of UA-cam love. For under $1000 this thing is a great deal.

The pleasures of greening the electric grid… instability and higher costs. Glad to see this affordable solution is filling in where the grid cannot. 👍

Thanks Mason. Glad to hear your Firman is working well. I bought a Firman dual fuel from Costco several years ago. Mostly for the RV but also as an emergency back up system for the home. It will keep the fridge running and let us have a few creature comforts. I would recommend it.

7500 is pretty large capacity. Still in caveman mode myself but at some point I'll have to run electric to my sheds and thats when a generator hookup will have to be installed. Thank you Mason, nice job as always. By the way we had a pole go down just last night and luckily only lost the phone .

For thirty years I had a gasoline generator. But with so much ethanol fuel that goes bad so quick so I like my propane, combo generator I live in a small town and it to squirrels fight on the power line.. there goes the power. We do have ice storms in other things to the I like the idea of having a gas and propane all-in-one....

I like my Firman Tri-Fuel a lot, especially during the Texas freeze and assorted power outages. I have natural gas for the cooktop, water heater, furnace & dryer. The 1/2" natural gas hose I bought had a 3/8" Female by 1/2" Male brass adapter to connect to the generator. It was too long (deep) on the female end and I had to sand it down so the flange in the adapter would seal against the LP gas fitting on the generator. The other end is a 1/2" male quick disconnect fitting which easily connects to the female fitting attached at the gas valve. I ended up installing a MB Sturgis Propane Elbow Adapter pointing downward at 45 degrees at the generator's 3/8" POL fitting. It is a 3/8" Female Flare Swivel x 3/8" Male Flare (Item # 204163) that I purchased from etrailer . Then I installed the 3/8" Female x 1/2" Male brass adapter there. I can plug the 240V 30A cable to the outlet which is connected to the house electrical panel. I have a 4-ton (46,000 BTU) A/C unit. I installed a Micro-Air EasyStart 368 (4-ton) Soft Starter ASY-368-X48-BLUE. My A/C unit now uses 12.8 to 13.8 Amps and a Start Peak of 33 to 36 Amps. My UPS's seem to beep & click when connected to the generator. I have a stupid power strip plugged into the battery backup side of the UPS with items plugged into the strip. All I have to do is move one plug to the surge protector side. And then turn off UPS. Surge protector with EMI/RFI Filter still work. APC PowerChute has a sensitivity setting which I have to try out next time I use the generator. Trying to line up the plug with the inlet at night? Take a marker or white-out and make a line on the plug & socket to line up the two before you twist it. Keep battery charged. Install emergency lights that come on when power goes out. Install them where you set up the generator and at the panel. Have an extra spark plug. Maintenance is easier when using natural gas to power the generator.

I also added 2 more emergency lights in our long hallway and master bedroom. I have (2) 4'x4' sheets the plywood to make a tent over the generator the deflect the sound to the ground.

      @@MasonGeorgeMotorcycles Amazon has the emergency lights that I bought. Search for B084QY95V6, 2-pack is $22.15 & 4-pack is $26.70.

@@MasonGeorgeMotorcycles jesus, thats insane. Gas costs 1.75$ per liter here. That means my 3550 running watt generator would cost about 110$ per day.
Ill keep my Yamaha ef2800 inverter and manage somehow. It costs about 40$ per day at full load (2500 watts).
I never imagined the difference was so big between an inverter and traditional generator.

@@chefchutardo5215 well mine is a 7500 watt and it’s running my whole house so there is that lol it’s expensive, but so is everything else in California so I guess we’re just used to it.
