I believe it’s not doing what you’re thinking. The purpose of using the vinegar is because of the acidity, and the purpose of using the baking soda is because of the alkalinity, both of which sanitize in their own way. When you use both the acidity and alkalinity are both brought to a neutral state. I’m sure there is some cleaning going on, but it would be much more powerful to use them individually..

@@lemondrop7305 Everything is a chemical :P and I should have stated perhaps more clearly that it's basic chemistry that alkaline substances cancel or neutralize acidic substance.. thus using them together renders them useless unless trying to take advantage of a specific property to make up for it working better together, it depends.. baking soda is abrasive and vinegar also can help remove thick hard to remove substance when you combine it makes for more powerful abrasive but you lose the cleaning properties or antimicrobial features. I use white vinegar and water. Let the berries soak for no more than 7-8 minutes, rinse well with plain water and let dry on towel. The strawberries last for weeks and taste so fresh and flavorful.I think using the glass container for storage is a great idea. I've been rinsing out the container they come in and reusing . Hey I'm just happy to have such clean and fresh strawberries! Also... raspberries only soak for 4 minutes or else too mushy like the strawberries.

There are baking sodas that’s for food safety and baking sodas for fashion cleaning. Not everyone is that smart to figure out the baking soda method. Also, there’s baking powder - that one will sure throw people off too
