The first video in this series on 'popping' into your drive will help if you are held from the outset. Using that breastroke kick to propel you up and out of the water will minimize the ability of a defender to hold you. In general you want to push through any holds and whenever possible show them to the ref. For example if someone is grabbing your arm, could you lift your arm out of the water a bit to show the referee. Be strong and never give up, the refs won't give you a call if you stop, keep moving and working.
V out strokes are way choppier. U do like 3 strokes directly into the defender to get their hips down so u can push off of them to the ball, but in a drive you’d probably actually swim. Like it’s less physical.
My grandson is in this class with Coach David. He is awesome.
is that synchronized swimming in the background?
Yes it is.
How does this work with someone holding you?

Ok thank you!
How would your teammate know that you're doing a V-release instead of a drive
