Ooof, that video hits so much harder after you read up to that part in the novel. I already finished the Donghua before watching this, but it didn't have the same impact. Knowing everything that happened in the book and the perfectly written internal dialog and descend of Wei WuXian makes this Video absolutely flawless!

This song is often used for opposing sides in animatics, but in the mdzs context its even sadder because Wei ying IS actually right here but is painted as the villain.
Mhmm it’s really fits very well with the whole theme of how there’s no true black and white. Like we support him because we see and understand his perspective but the others don’t and therefore see him as an unredeemable villian. Same with the other antagonists in the story really except theirs isn’t as complicated or morally grey as his. But yea I could rant for a while about this lol
