    as a pretty "casual" player (I only have 1000 hours over 15 years, roughly 25 past lives) This is one more mechanic I will never get to experience, so the people complaining about not getting the exact right extra bonus on their hyper elite raid gear is pretty irrelevant to me.

    If all the bonuses were defensive instead of being a mix of offensive and defensive, the randomness probably wouldn’t feel bad at all

      You, me, and everyone else.. It seems when we say, we want more inventory space'. They hear, 'we really wants more things to put in our already over-crowded inventory space'.. SMH

    I mean fortune is just another layer of grind added for the min-maxers. This game is already extremely grindy if you want to min-max, and as someone that joined late. It kinda takes away my already scarce willingness to grind more. For sure this is aimed at hardcore die hard fans. Which is kinda sad since it discourage new min-maxers joining the game. But also I understand people that put a lot of time into this game wants to feel rewarded. So In my opinion if they want to add new grind, they can maybe do some adjustement to the old grind (Reincarnation) easier to hopefully make it more appealing to the newer players. But this is just my first impression, so if some of you disagree, it's probably warranted.

    This system's RNG sounds worse than back in the day when farming runes for Dragontouched Armor. I'll pass on using this system most likely, as I just don't like dealing with that much RNG and frustration, especially if it permanently affects an item I cherish and spent lots of time farming.

    I for one welcome the new vaal orb cursed cards. But having a way to remove and reapply would be very nice.

    My crowd control is swing a big falchion in a circle. Steel to the head kills most mobs if applied a few times.

      Same. only a Great Axe.. Yes steel to head does wonders to change the minds of those that thought that being a an NPC bad guy was a good career choice.

    Sorry Strim, but "Rolled" gear is a horrible idea. It too much like gambling, and brings back thoughts about the GoMF horror rerolls. Players want gear that's won via MERIT, not randomly assigned after grinding for days or weeks. The idea of all this is insulting.

    Do people not understand the point of the 'deck of many...' magical items?
    They are *meant* to provide random, unchangeable effects.
    As with all gambling, never put in more than you can afford to use. It's a random stat for random folks.
    ...on the other hand, its a video game.
    So
    - yeah if you can't remove it or apply another effect, lose the negative effects. (or - *FAR BETTER* keep them - it is called a deck of many curses after all - make it so you can do something about it. Sure it ruined your prize raid gear: but now you have a new mission objective)
    - Possibly a way to stack the deck. E.g. add something where you put in double the cards, you can instead choose from a *category* of buffs. It still wouldn't be a guranteed perfect benefit for your character, but more in line with their primary purpose. They should use some of the random lootgen special effect naming to clue you in to what you might get.
    - rename it. If it's not going to have negative effects, and you can in any way change what efffect it applies... then it's not a curse is it.

    not having a reroll is just stupid. they know people don't want buffs on stuff that doesn't help them so they want people to spend even more time farming items over and over again hoping to get a good buff on an item.

    If they add this type of card system into game and think it's for lols, yeaa it´s massive L for SSG. At least how they have designed it before feedback is just mad. I´m baffled how their mind works to come up with this type of stuff when there could be more innovative ways to improve game.

    I am going see how it goes before trying any of the new stuff.. Cause as we all know SSG ability to break things is.. well.. legendary.. Love the game, but seriously, for every new thing that goes in something really has to break?
    So, I will wait and see how it works out and then decide after the dust has settled.

      I've been trying to find a DM who will let me play a Mind Flayer. I seriously doubt its gonna happen.

    All the new loot in U63 has the fatal flaw of not having a set bonus. Thus to equip any of it would undermine the sets already in use by veteran players.

    As long as it doesnt impact your character in a negative way, i dont mind, but if the stat increase from the deck are too strong, you basically dont have a choice but to reroll your gear like crazy to really min/max a build

    Look to how a similar system in world of warcraft has affected player psychology and behavior. There are more than 1 examples. People will 100% feel the need to hyper-past-the-point-of-diminishing-returns farm this.

    They should just make a deck of MANY curses with ALL curses (goods AND bad) and then make another deck of LESS curses with only the 'good' curses.
    Ya know, because some of us do want the sink effect of something else than boots for a change.

    Imo, this is a feature which I hate in every MMORPG. They add systems on top of hundreds of systems that adds absolutely zero value to the game. Just overly complicated nothing to keep in mind. RNG gambling plays with your addicted mind, and nothing more. But I hope that 10 people will enjoy it.

    It's like a real card deck, does it make sense to grab a random card and then be mad when it's no an ace of spades? Rerolling the effect would ruin the spirit of what the devs were trying to do, in my opinion. If they wanna appease the hardcore minmaxers then making the effect temporary would be a better solution, some days you're lucky, others not so much.

    Bladeforged bard? Why tho? Also, the new Deck of Many Curses thing kinda reminds me of Vaal Orbs in Path of Exile, but less likely to ruin an item

      Because it looks cool. It's suboptimal, but it looks cool.
      That is the official answer, and has been given a couple times, it's also in the original build video.

    Definitely not looking forward to this system as is. I really hope they add reshuffling to the decks. As I am in the camp of farming out a nearly perfect gear set. Would hate to get an unfavorable curse that’s stuck on the gear as reframing would be an incredible task.

    I say keep the detrimental effects.
    Add a way to remove effects you don't want.
    Much more in keeping with the spirit of the Deck of Many Things concept, way more interesting, and frankly just less annoying overall.

    I loved the cursed stuff. It was more for flavor for me though. Messing around with a 6 con character, so it’s sad that they won’t keep the goody effects.
    Side note: Sink like stone would be cool if it was useful in quests like reaver’s fate.

    How hard could it possibly be to ensure some gear doesn't get some bonuses. Docents should never have positive amp, just like non-docents should never have repair amp. Melee weapons shouldn't get ranged bonuses. This would be a nice change to everything, imo.

    Dang, I kindof like the idea of having potential curses. Maybe the cost of rerolling the effect is that you also acquire a random curse. So the item that gets shuffled now always has one curse and one bonus
