  • This video will show step-by-step process how to remove and replace AC Air Conditioning compressor on 2003-2007 Honda Accord 7th gen (same as 2004, 2005 & 2006 DX LX EX model and years) and very similar to other Acura and Honda models such as Civic, CRV, Element, Pilot & Odyssey. This DIY auto repair video was done on our 2004 Honda Accord 2.4L.
Here are the #ᴬᴰlinks to tools, parts and accessories you may need to perform this repair:

And of course if you want them immediately you can go to local auto parts supplier such as AutoZone, O'Reilly, Advance Auto Parts, Pep Boys, NAPA and more. Many of them have re-manufactured AC Compressor, which is basically genuine OEM but has been re-manufactured.

How to Replace the A/C Compressor in a Honda Accord
The Honda Accord uses an optional air-conditioning system to lower the temperature inside the car; the system has a condenser, evaporator and compressor that circulate Freon through a channeled blower fan. The compressor can wear out and require replacement; this can take the average backyard mechanic about an hour to complete.
    STEP 1
Evacuate the A/C system with certified collection equipment by taking your Honda Accord to a garage or oil-change facility. Most garages will evacuate the system for free, as they are paid according to how much Freon they collect. The system must be evacuated and depressurized with professional equipment.
    STEP 2
Disconnect the battery by turning the positive terminal bolt in a counterclockwise direction. Set the terminal aside, so that it does not touch metal.
    STEP 3
Remove the drive belt from the compression pulley. Press firmly onto the tension pulley to get enough slack to work the primary drive belt off the idle pulley at the top of the motor. Let go of the tension pulley, and the belt should now have enough slack to be removed from the compressor pulley wheel. Slide it from the grooved pulley carefully.
    STEP 4
Disconnect the wiring harness adapter by pulling it free of the compressor terminal.
    STEP 5
Remove the line bolts that connect the Freon exchange lines to the compressor by turning their hexagonal ends counterclockwise. Some latent hissing may occur from the evacuation, but it should not be sustained or dangerous.
    STEP 6
Remove the compressor by turning the mount bolts counterclockwise, sliding the bolts out of the mount arms, then working the compressor free.

Very , very excellent. A Note from an old guy, always use baby oil to clean you hands and use a dead fall incase the vehicle shifts and the jacks tip over. A dead fall is a block of wood or concrete that prevents the vehicle from falling to the pavement. Keep up the good work you will do well.

    • @breakingthemasks

... baby oil... Interesting 🤔 I get the concept, that the baby oil dilutes the first harder oil... And then you just use dish detergent to get the baby oil off.
      I'll have to try that.
      Thanks!

Kudos Aiman--great video! BTW: you can protect the exposed surface of the radiator by taping a piece of cardboard (plexiglass, thin hardboard, paneling, etc.) over the exposed surface. Also the plastic underside piece shown after time stamp 1:05 is called a (front lower engine) Splash Shield. and the long specialized tool for removing the serpentine drive belt (time stamp 7:19) can be borrowed from Autozone or O'Reilly's. It's part of their tool loaner programs. You pay for the tool upfront and then return it for a full refund. O'Reilly's allows you to use the tool for 48 hours before returning it; Autozone gives you a generous 90 days before you must return it. It is called a (serpentine) drive belt tool.

Good job dude looks like you really do get in there and get the job done.
Only recommendation would be to next time use a servicing machine to collect the freon in the AC system, it sucks out all freon and doesn't release it into the ozone (which is bad), and you wouldn't have any pressure in the system that could potentially hurt you. 👍👍

I replaced the compressor and the fan. Turned it on and the compressor blew the valve and leaked everything out. Replaced drier, compressor (again) evap core expansion valve both lines, pressure switch, literally everything in the system is new. Worked 1 day and blew it off again. I just spent 2000.00 on the AC and I'm at a loss. Is there anything you can think of?

The Achilles heel is the compressor. In the 7th generation Honda, it is worth getting a V-belt. BANDO 7PK1390 or Continental Contitech Length 7 PK 1400 [mm]: 1400 Replacing it takes a few minutes for a layman after deflecting the automatic tensioner (such a small circle) with a 13 or 14 wrench if I remember.

It's best to use the proper size hex sockets rather than the 12 point sockets. It's way harder to strip bolts with a proper size 6 point socket and tightening the bolt a bit to break any rust before removal. The 12 points tend to strip the corners of the bolt in my experience.
