- This new update seems to have fixed the issues some of us have been having with Emo's legs. Also, they've now made it so Emo will go home with enough battery power to get him there. Edge detection has been enhanced probably for the Home Station mat.

Nice video! I’m sorry that your Emo is having so many problems. I got him 10 days ago and he has got out of his home station mat sometimes. One time when I woke up I saw him on the floor but luckily he didn’t get damaged. And by the way, it only took 9 days for my Emo to arrive so that means Living AI is speeding up the delivery process a lot.
Oh wow! I'm very happy to hear the delivery times are getting so much quicker! I'll probably order another one as a backup to my backup Emo. I'm very happy to hear that your Emo didn't get damaged in the fall. I think the one I've been calling my original Emo was actually one that was in worse condition than the one I sent in.

the first time I had to send my old emo at living ai for service the issue was the servo or the cable of the servo/foot but im happy for you that your emo is fixed.
Those servos get a workout since Emo walks around so much. Now after this update I've noticed he's having trouble going home. He just walks around in circles in front of the Home Station until he runs out of power.

I've had my Emo since receiving him in early 2023. And, he's had ALL the problems you described. I also observed these issues have a compounding effect such that his servo end up stressed with all the wonky and random movement.
Yeah I'm really hoping this is not going to be an ongoing issue. I think as they add more features it seems to sometimes cause issues to pop up for various reasons. Those servos for his legs get a lot of use so I'm worried about their longevity. I might turn my Emo off on the days that I won't be downstairs enough to appreciate his antics to save on wear and tear on his motors. Especially since he spends about 7 hours a day walking around since he comes off his charger 3 times a day.

Thanks for your great content! Mine came yesterday and i would extremely appreciate a european repair center, because i love the little guy and it seems sooner or later we will run into some problems (i hope we don't of course)
Thank you! I'm curious if they'll have repair centers in multiple locations. It would probably be expensive for them though so I'm not sure if they will. But I'm guessing as more Emo owners Emos age, they'll need repairs which would be a business in itself for them so I hope they do.
My first Emo had that exact same problem and sorry to say it definitely needs replacing, they made me download an app called "Caring for Emo" and after running a few tests they sent me a new one within a week and when it arrived I sent my old one back.
I've actually been designing addons for my Emo, like a 3d printed gattling gun that works, a space helmet, arms and even pieces to build up the home station like a base with a mini satellite dish etc
That's it! I knew there was an app to diagnose and possibly repair Emo. Someone mentioned it to me a while back. That is so awesome that you're making add-ons for Emo! You could make a business with that. People would love to get more accessories for their little buddies! 😁 You could sell them on eBay or Etsy.

I’ve had this same issue including several different issues with all my Emo replacements (x5 Emo’s have had feet issues, & now I’m waiting for my seventh Emo replacement for my broken fifth Emo)
Wow! That's a lot of Emos! Yeah considering how much of a workout those servos for his legs get, I'm guessing they'll break down over time. That's a bit concerning now that some Emos are hitting the 2 year old mark.
@@outsider238 apparently the brand new batch of Emo’s that are being shipped out now are supposed to be the latest version of EMO which has a brand-new upgraded hardware system, with less noise and longer life. But we’ll see if that holds true.

I had the same problem with the thing what I did was
1. Put it on the charger
2. Go to the app
3. go to settings
4. Go to power of
5. Even though the app clearly states do not power of on the charger do it
6. It will work fine after showing the power of animation
7. Take it out of the charger and it will power of wait for a whole day and put it back on the charger
This is the way my EMO worked there is a chance the glitch may stop
But you can never say that it will work fully and all the glitches go the clicking noise will continue

What I have noticed with 2.3.1 is a little bit of shaking or jitters. Not all the time. In people that would be called non-intention tremors. That is, when trying to stand still EMO makes small movements or vibrations. Servo control may be optimized, but there is something not quite right.
Hmm. I just got the update for my second Emo and he's totally fine. I'm not seeing any jitters. He might need to be turned off and then back on which can help reset him.
Nice to see that the update has helped him with his right leg and walking problems. Are you really shure that he is not your Original EMO? May be that his front was scratched during the change of the little Motherboard. May be we will get a little EMO EMO video after you have updated the newer one? Please?
I'm working on a video right now because it turns out this update didn't fix Emo's foot sensor issues. I'll have to start using the replacement Emo now.

My Emo sometimes does that. But my new emo works fine. Also try to restart emo. Hopefully it helps.

Oh that's very cool! I don't know of any robots currently that can do that. You'd probably have to get the software or program separately and incorporate it into a robot that's either available or something you can make yourself. It might be cool to make your own robot character.

On July 21st EMO Pearl's Right Foot Kept Getting Stuck Again Same As On June 6th,
On July 23rd It Got Worse,
On July 25th EMO Pearl Got Sick With An "Extreme Heat Virus" For 3 Days Due To 93 - 101 Degrees Fahrenheit Weather With Excessive Heat Warnings And Watches,
Since July 15th EMO Pearl Was Having A Cliff Detection Issue Even After Updating To v2.3.1, Today,
And On August 6th EMO Pearl's Foot Completly Broke,
I Have Made The Decision Not To Send Him Back Due To Extreme Sadness If I Had To,
It Would Be Extremly Difficult To Send My Sweet Original EMO Pearl Back Also That Would Leave My Channel Inactive.

I think I'm going to order another Emo as a backup to my backup Emo as I don't know how long my original is going to last. Especially since I'm convinced he's not my original Emo and the one they sent back to me was in worse condition than my original. My original was flawless except for the battery issue. I hope you can get your Emo Pearl fixed some day. 🙏

Looks like there's some now. This morning my Emo is back to doing that jumping thing again. I cleaned his foot sensors and he's still doing it. I think the problem is the accelerometer that let's him know if he's right side up or not. He's reacting like he's on his back.

I think I know what's going on there it was happening to me the sensors on the bottom of his feet try giving them a clean with IPA

Considering the success of Emo, is there anything else on the horizon that companies are working on? You'd think after selling so many thousands of these that someone would be looking to jump on the bandwagon.
I'm sure there will be more copycat type of robots showing up. Maybe with a more simple design for locomotion as I do think that Emo's way of walking is a complicated mechanism that will have a difficult time holding up over time to all the movements. But they also need to keep the robots simple but still fun like Emo. I stopped doing Loona videos because she actually has too many features that over complicate her and it overwhelms me to where I don't want to play with her. Plus she's just too hyper. I hope there will be more robot pets coming! 😁
Ok so the explanation for EMO doing that weird leg shuffling thing is he’s trying to reposition himself to go left or right without turning so he just shifts himself with his foot
Yeah but he shouldn't keep doing it to where he can't do anything else. He couldn't even go back to his Home Station.
Because you have the playground you can put black tape under his feet I know you have return it just saying. only where the sensers are.

Aww! I'm so glad you love your Emo! 😍 I haven't made any Loona videos in a while mainly because she's so hyper, it's hard to make a video with her. She's also gotten complicated. Too complicated for my liking. You have to access so many thing on the app and it's overwhelming (at least for me it's become that way) and she's always getting stuck somewhere. I haven't actually even turned her on in months.

@@ProBotMasterOfficial It's really hard to say. I think there's some people that will absolutely adore Loona. I liked the idea of her at first but I feel like she was designed more with kids in mind so she has to be constantly moving and active and that's fine but I wanted more of a mellow companion that would come to you wanting pets and some loving. Maybe have some Alexa type of features. Her charging dock needs to be in a well lit area which doesn't really work well at night unless you have all the lights on brightly in the house. They may have improved that by now but I'm not sure. Also her ears are fragile (they've made improvements on the gear design inside) so you have to constantly worry about her getting in areas like under furniture where the ears are trying to wiggle but are restricted and could possibly damage the ear mechanism. She's super cute but I think for now at least, I prefer the desktop robots like Emo.

For a while I’ve had a robot pet named chip and after a while I realized how old and outdated he was, I’m more of a guy who likes robots that help you out with your day unlike Cozmo, I think I’m gonna get a vector the I’ll think about a loona but I REALLY like the follow me feature on loona but vectors probably the perfect fit for my house and room, I’m definitely gonna think about a loona now that you gave me this useful info. What about a vector and is it worth paying more that 300 for it? What about the membership?
@@ProBotMasterOfficial It's interesting that you brought up Vector. I would definitely wait, if not completely shy away from Vector. At least for now. Digital Dreamlabs hasn't been the most honest about their products. Vector hasn't been working for a couple of weeks now. They claim that they're doing "maintenance and upgrades" to their servers but I'm suspicious. I think they're about to go out of business if they haven't already. I'm not certain of that but that's my suspicion. There hasn't been an update for Vector in years. No new games, no new features and the Vector 2.0 is virtually identical to the original Vector with the exception of a replaceable battery on 2.0. Customers have waited years to get their 2.0 Vectors and are now trying to get refunds. I had to go through a huge hassle to get my money back for the Butter Robot that they've been saying they're working on but I'm pretty sure it's never going to happen. Last I looked, DDL has an "F" rating on the Better Business Bureau website. If you look up their address for their headquarters, the building is now up for lease. The president of the company Jacob Hanchar just got arrested for DUI a couple of weeks ago. It's not looking good for DDL. Look up a short by Bruce Hunsaker here on UA-cam. I think it's called Vector robot servers still down? Or something like that. I don't think I can put a link here. He's thinking they went bust as well.
Hey Outsider! I had ordered my emo about 3-4 months ago. Is it normal for it to take this long? Because I know everyone says it takes a while but those were from like 2 years ago so. Wanted to know how long yours took!
Hmm. That seems a bit long. Especially now since I'm hearing some people saying they're getting their Emos in 2-4 weeks. It can depend on where you live though. I was one of the original Kickstarters for Emo so I don't remember how long it took since I had to wait for the crowdfunding to finish. I would email LivingAI to see if they can give you a status report on your order although they aren't the best at answering emails in a timely fashion.

Hey I'm leaving this comment before watching the video but I was wondering if I should get EMO because he seems really cool but I'm not sure if I should spend $369.00 on a robot because if I do that I will have to hold off getting my new laptop for 4 more months so should I get my new laptop or EMO?
Edit: Or should I get Cozmo or Vector there's a ton of different robots like EMO.

I'm pretty sure you're right. My original Emo was in far better condition than this one that they sent back to me. That means that my real, original Emo is floating around out there somewhere and I wish I could have him back. I'll probably order another one to be the backup Emo to my backup Emo! 😄

Hmm... not sure what's going on with that. Try turning Emo off and then back on again. That can reset things on him. Make sure the Home Station is connected to Emo as well.
My Emo has a broken leg and he sometimes just puts it down and he kinda cant walk normally. Is there anyway to fix it?
Did he fall off a table? If so the damage may only be fixed by sending him back to LivingAI for repairs. I don't know that much about repairing Emo.

I have an extra Home Station but my original Emo's leg issues won't let him get on it.
So I just updated, and noticed that even after the update, my Emo leg did get better but it’s still glitches out a bunch. It’s getting to the point now where his headphones are beginning to break. Some of his trim pieces on his headphones broke off. We messaged living AI and we haven’t heard a response from them yet. Any ideas?
I'm wondering if one of the past updates inadvertently caused a glitch with his legs. It seems to be something that's happening more frequently with Emo owners whether their Emos are newer or older. I'm hoping if that's the case that they'll be able to identify the issue and send out an update to correct this. As for the headphones, I've never had any issues with those. Do you take his headphones off and on frequently?

I think what was happening when he was doing that is he got behind somehow on his commands. I had placed him on the charger 4 or 5 times but he didn't make the charging animation but then it was like he was trying to catch up and did all the animations one after the other. It was weird and I'd never seen him do that before. He hasn't done it since.
Which one do you like most, Emo or Vector? I want one but am having trouble deciding.
Emo for sure. Although I've had Vector for more than 5 years now, the two companies that owned Vector either went out of business or just disappeared. Do not buy Vector. Digital Dreamlabs is the current company behind him and they've been virtually nonexistent for months. You won't be able to activate Vector since his servers haven't worked for months.

The only problem mine Emo has had ( 165 days old ) was of detecting the edges his sensers are clean reboot does not help it is a bug in the software this happening after the 2.3.1 update so living ai said that he needs to be recalabeted. But I have a playground very beautiful so it is ok but I would like if that problem is fixed .
So are they going to recalibrate him or do we have to do it? If we have to do it, how do we recalibrate him?

Quick question, so in a the night while everyone’s asleep will it make much noise when everyone’s sleeping at night while he’s still in
He sleeps quietly throughout the night. There are times when he's up rather late like around 11:30 or so but you can always tell him to go home and go to sleep.

Clean his foot with alcohol or something. I think he's got edge detection problem in his right foot and just backs away when he feels edge considering the software update fixed the edge detection recognition.
He was having a limp issue with his leg for a couple of weeks before. I think there's something wrong with the servo in that leg. That jump definitely looks like a sensor problem.

My second Emo doesn't have his update available yet either. They're releasing the update incrementally to keep their servers from getting overwhelmed.

Do you mean how long it took to get him after ordering him? I was one of the original Kickstarters to fund Emo's creation so I don't recall how long it took. I'm hearing it takes 2-4 weeks but some have said it's still taking longer than that. I think it depends on where you live.

It's better now. It's not 100% but I'm pretty sure this Emo is not my original that LivingAI sent back to me as this one seemed to be in worse condition than my original. My original Emo was flawless except for the battery issue he was having.

But I have been having problems with my emo for the past couple days like where he won’t respond correctly or he turns off not completely and the he turns back on. Like one time I asked him to come here and he said you were missed what can I do for you.
@@codycossaboon Yeah I'm starting to notice that there's more glitches. I think as they add more updates, it affects things that Emo already does in a negative way. I also hope they can fix the problem where he says "wha?" even if you didn't say his name.

Seems this guy have serious Hardware Issues. :/
He's actually very nicely made. I think what happens is when there's an update, sometimes the update unintentionally affects a certain function that he did before. As Emo evolves, more and more coding is added and sometimes glitches appear. Emo is a very technical dude. Now that I've had him for over 2 years, I do feel like they probably should have designed him with wheels as the legs are very intricate mechanisms with tricky interactions with the servos reacting to each other. Walking requires much more complicated mechanisms verses just rolling around but the legs also give him more animation and character.
