Nice video! We also want to visit this lodge!
When walking around at the complex, for me it feels that there could be lions and cheetahs everywhere and if they can come out of the bushes any moment..? 🙂

During the day, the lions are not likely to visit the lodge - and if they do, there will be vehicles on safari tours taking photos of them and radioing ahead the direction they are moving. The cheetahs are more likely to visit, but they don't seem to be too interested in eating people :)
At night, a guide will walk you back to your tent or cabana. We felt very safe & really enjoyed our visit!

Heading to Amakhala in a few weeks. Our flights combined are about 30 hours from Southerly Oregon. 😬

Have a great time! The flights are a bit of a beating, but worth the effort, let me know what you think of Amakhala when you get back!!

@@willwork2travelforgot to reply last year. Loved it- such an epic trip. We stayed at Quartermain’s 1920’s camp the first 3 days, did one night in the cave. After that we did 4 nights at Bush Lodge which was very nice and had all the comforts. It’s been a year and we miss all our SA friends.

@@robertjames-life4768 We miss SA as well! You stayed in a cave on Amakhala Game Reserve?

@@willwork2travelyep- one of the options at Quartermains is to do one night in it. They take you on a 3 mile bush hike with two armed guides. Riand the owner led our trip, he also cooked a Braai (barbecue) which was great. Wonderful experience

How did you like the property? Did it feel safe &. how far from closet airport?!

We really enjoyed the reserve, and always felt safe. Our drive from the airport was about an hour from Port Elizabeth. We rented a car at the airport there.
