- Jonathan Majors was set to play the MCU villain Kang the Conqueror. However, he has been fired by Disney after being found guilty for two misdemeanors. Since then Marvel has been shifting away from the multiverse villain. At the 2024 San Diego comic con Marvel announced that the Russo brothers will be directing Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars. It was also announced that Robert Downey Jr will play the role of Doctor Doom. Jonathan Majors was asked about this transition. Check out his response and share your thoughts in the comments.

They really don't want a powerful black character to be depicted in marvel. That is why they did not recast T' Challa even though the fans and Chadwick Bosman wanted that to happen. I was looking forward to Kang Dynasty. Disney acted like MCU fans were boycotting Majors are something. Most of us knew his situation was stretched out of proportion. To be real, and I know most men will never admit this, but we’ve all had scuffles (I don’t mean fist fights) with a woman at one point or another. But retraining a woman from attacking you should not be held against us, even if she gets injured.

Love Johnathan Majors response. He was taking the high road while calling the industry out on what they did to him. He is completely right about how badly he was treated. @mediaglutton1072 Blame it on marvel or the readers tbh Black Panther was at best a B- character to readers, Iron Man maybe B+. Spiderman, Avengets, X Men, Hulk, Thor, Wolverine were far and above the highest bought comics from the 80s until the 2000s. Captain America had faded in popularity. The way I see it fans need to make their own stuff. Some previous popular authors didn't like the lack of creative control from Marvel went off and made Image Comics that made Spawn and many other titles instead of just complaining.

Huge respect to Jonathan Majors for the masterful, intelligent and gracious way he handled that situation despite being baited to say something silly numerous times. If Marvel knew what was good for them they would bring back Jonathan and Kang with better talented writers capable of writing amazing stories and doing the character of Kang the justice he deserves.

They do not need to recast for Kane the Conqueror. Jonathan Majors was great for that role. Give it time for everything to settle down on. That B.S verdict anyway. The story for Kane is a very important character for Marvel. Needs to be flushed out right! I hope they don't mess up the story for Dr Doom also.

RDJ served 15 months in JAIL after violating his probation. Yes. He was vouched for, but RDJ got clean and sober- showing he put in the work to comeback. Jonathan Majors went from Kang to Snake Pliskin, ESCAPE FROM NY- running all 5 Boroughs of New York City from Uma Thurman. I didn’t agree with the verdict, but I saw the writing on the wall.

I agree with everything stated in this video. As much as it hurts, a delay is not a denial. I believe there is a better path with Major results coming for him. All opportunities are the same. Usually something that's denied of you in the present gets replaced by something way better in the future.

Though I disagree with bringing back RDJ, that dude went through his banishment from Hollywood in the late 90s and early 2000s. Ironman 2008 was RDJ first shot after a long comeback. Majors has his own work to do to rebuild his brand over the next few years.
I agree that they should have finished the kang story since they were building it up since loki season 1 and wasted our time. Doom is someone that should have been saved after secret wars and given the proper time to develop instead of shoehorning him into the next avengers with RDJ playing. That's not doing doom justice. However, I will disagree with comparing thor to kang. Thor was far more important to the mcu since he's a core and founding member of the avengers. He's not someone that marvel could pivot away from.

It took years for RDJ to get back to where he was. Mel Gibson had to pay insurance to the studios just so RDJ could work. He was thriving in the 80s. Went crazy in the 90s. Got redeemed in the 2000s. The man was avoided like the plague for years. JM is just in the beginning of his "redemption story".

The writing for that movie was trash. They could have done so much with that concept. A villain that multiplies-- they could have gone full Chris Nolan with that concept. They blew it. Not Jonathan Majors' fault, but the story was a dud.

Bro, I love Majors as an actor, but you can not compare him and RDJ. Their legal troubles happened in completely different timeliness. RDJ was an outcast for awhile before Marvel and not in the middle of a franchise. That is not a double standard. It didn't help Ant Man performed horribly either (not Majors fault). Ezra is a more comparable situation, but even then, they don't work for the same studio. So, one decision by one studio doesn't directly correlate to another. In theory Kang is getting killed, aka recast, so RDJ is not replacing Majors another Black actor would be. Doom would be replacing Kang as the villain. That is a notable distinction. I don't love they fired him, but I'm not surprised. It's Disney. They would catch pure hell if they didn't, that's just the name of the game. I knew if he was found guilty that the family company would have to distance themselves. Whether they were right or wrong to do so, it would be bad for business not to do so. That's common sense.

Well after RDJ scandal after getting kicked from Ally McBeal it took years for him to come back. Ezra I think the filming was done and in post and just released it anyway. It will take some time for things to cool down and people continue vouching for him. He need to get a PR person, and hang out with Henry Cavell and get some relationship advice.

Dude I’m so angry that this happened with Majors and the Kang story. It was getting really interesting especially with his character in Loki. If there was a way to have fans come together to voice a request to bring back Majors, I’m all for it.
With RDJr, him coming back to Hollywood was during a different time when canceling people wasn’t a thing and then he became the heart and soul of the MCU and never looked back as far as his career ascension and legal issues. With Miller, yeah, he was a menace to society. Lucky for him he was already too established within his movie roles (the Flash and Fantastic Beasts) but as soon as they had a chance they kicked his sorry behind out the door. Another thing that helped Miller was that he is, supposedly, part of a protected minority that I shall not mention but we all know who they are #rainbowmafia
This whole situation with JM makes absolutely no sense especially since without a certain black actor the mcu wouldn't even exist they're enjoying tearing him down though, but it ain't the end for Majors he's way to talented I wish him the best.
I was wondering about the RDJ past aspect. It does seem like a double standard, but i assume they're "ok" with it because it all happened before he was employed by Disney, where majors happened AFTER. the bitch of it all is if Disney was so worried about criminal records yhey never should have hired RDJ in the first place.
RDJ had his issues decades ago and had to work his way back. True they took a chance still but not exactly the same.

Bringing Downey back for a Dr Doom story that nobody wanted is desperation on Marvel's part. Marvel/Disney should have kept Majors on board and just weathered the storm.
Majors was great as Kang. I want to say that Disney should just let him do a public apology for what happened, maybe tell his side of the story, and come back as Kang. But honestly, he might be dodging a bullet, so to speak. The writing in the MCU is so up and down right now, he might as well do some projects outside the MCU and be great doing that. Ultimately, the MCU needs him (a great actor) more than he needs the MCU.
I honestly don’t think he lost his job because of the verdict. Truthfully Kang wasn’t a good villain. They took that opportunity and made him a scapegoat, now with that being said I definitely see him being the next green lantern for DC. This is my opinion and keep up with the good content! 💪🏾 SN: dead pool is an R rated Disney movie and did amazing. It’s about the money so it does make sense bringing in RDJR as Dr.Doom

Ezra miller was already done making the flash when he went batshit crazy. But he definitely had some red flag moments before then. But let’s be honestly. The kang storyline wasn’t really working and this was an easy out.
My issue is that they didn't make Kang a feel like an Avengers level threat as it before Loki and Ant-man he got bodied. So 2 out of 3 appears you lose so it more of they didn't know what to do with the character. If you compare his treatment to Thanos who first time actually in the movie he beat all the Avengers and completed his goals. Where in the last movie Kang was in he was beaten by a man who no one takes seriously (not even himself to be honest) who has erection powers. Now, I like Ant-man but if I was to be cynical he basically had the powers of a dirty P3N!5. I grow/shrink and give you unwanted bugs. However, I do feel that it's a bad look like what they could have done is keep Kang Dynasty just add in Dr Doom later
As is well known, they were already so far in making the flash that it was too late to just stop production (and a movie is thousands of jobs, even if there’s a main character there are thousands others working to make the movie, which is very expensive). So bringing up Ezra Miller getting a second chance doesn’t hold weight cause that’s all he did in 2023, finishing that 1 project, he’s done nothing in 2024 and has nothing upcoming so he’s pretty much cancelled.
And fwiw I really liked The Flash, the story was really good / touching and I enjoyed Michael Keaton’s return as Batman. The supergirl or whatever was terrible, but saying no one saw the movie is just wrong.
The Flash only made 271 million and lost money lol I don’t know any other better way to prove that no one really saw it but that. Your anecdotal feelings for the movie doesn’t change that it was major bomb and wasn’t well received by the general public.
As for them going forward with it after Ezra’s public problems, the first of his issues choking a woman on camera happened at a point in pre production before they really got started with anything involving him and the rest happened at the beginning of production. After what they did with Batgirl they easily could’ve scrapped the project as well, especially after already planning to reboot the universe…your excuses here hold no weight

Yes people literally saw it, I saw it myself in theatres but you know what he meant when he said nobody saw it 271 million worldwide for a comic book movie in 2023 is absolutely pathetic once you factor in invested money and potential profits from viewership…not a lot of people saw which is a fact. It was not well received and LOST the company money, period!
I loved The Marvels and hated how it was treated before and after its release not even getting anywhere close to the same advertising The Flash received due to the writers strike but at the end of the day I won’t argue that people other than myself generally liked it just because it made some money at all…what kind of backward logic is that lol

I think it has more to do with the timing than anything. If what happened to Jonathan had happen during the Infinity Saga when things were flowing good, and Jonathan had been cast for the next phase as the main villain, the press would've probably done what they do, but it wouldn't have been "current" news, but old news.

RDJ helped start the MCU, RDJ's past is past, Jonathan Majors is current. At the time of RDJ's casting it wasnt as much a risk with Marvel studios being in its infancy.

Marvel fired Majors in December, the same day he was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault. His villain, Kang, was created as the new Thanos of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and would feature prominently in "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty," which has now been scrapped and replaced by "Avengers: Doomsday," starring Downey.
“Yes, heartbroken. Of course,” Majors responded when TMZ asked if he was hurt by the new direction Marvel was taking. “I love Kang. However, Doctor Doom is evil.”
TMZ later noted that Downey was being given the opportunity to lead more Marvel films despite his own history of legal troubles. Downey was arrested in 1996 for possession of heroin, cocaine and an unloaded gun and received three years of probation. He faced many other legal problems in the years that followed, causing some Marvel executives to worry about casting him as Tony Stark in 2008's "Iron Man."
"I think it's only fair that Mr. Downey has been met with patience, curiosity and love... and that he will be allowed to work [his] art and be creative at that level," Majors said of how Downey was given a return despite the legal problems. "I didn't really understand that."
Would Majors want to return to the MCU as Kang? "Hell yes! Hell yes! I love it. I love Kang," he said. "If that's what the fans want and that's what Marvel wants, then let's move on. Hell yes."

With all fairness, when RDJ as given a second chance he was already a known actor for a decade or two, AND most importantly, he was given a second chance way before Me Too.

My heart goes out to Jonathan he's an amazing actor which should have nothing to do with his personal life, he definitely needs to have grace just like the rest of the other actors I really hope and pray that whatever film he's working on would become much bigger than Kang the conquer, when one door closes another will always open trust me it will happen.

RDJ was given a magnificent chance at redemption. They pushed for that reclamation project and it paid off
Let's not act like we don't know that RDJ has sold billions of dollars in movie tickets, and Kang sold 400 million. That's actually the fault of the writers, but it is what it is.
Should be noted that Ezra Miller has no upcoming roles for the foreseeable future.
And RDJ's comeback happened so many years after hitting rock bottom
