I think that's why celebrities are better participants at this. They have pretty thick skin from the years of harsh criticism and rejection in the media and from people in their industry. Average, everyday folks aren't cut out for being roasted, especially by close friends and family. Even if they manage to laugh it off, they will always think about it when they are around those people, and hold it against them (even if they keep it to themselves).
Nah, if you're not full of insecurities and somewhat confident getting roasted can be hilarious and fun as fuck. As long as people aren't genuinely trying to be mean at which point it stops getting fun and ends up a little uncomfortable.
This feels more like a satire than a comedy sketch. Some people just don't understand what roasts are. Also nice to see Pete Davidson "roasting" since he roasted Bieber on CC before lol
Anyone ever see the one where Anne Coulter roasts Davidson on his skin colour and he gets (understandably) super pissed? Definitely looked like a real reaction to a sensitive subject. I think she even brings up his dad, who was killed in 9/11. The definition of going too far!
I agree, it's not the right format for SNL. Butttttttttt, if there were a show with all sketches like this, I would definitely watch it. It's kind of like that Netflix series 'The Characters' which was hit or miss depending on the comedian, but a good format nonetheless.
Kristopher Levine No wonder he is now bored looking on SNL, they never let the good ones on like these. At least he has a better job than working like most people . Hope he livens up and goes just into movies . SNL pays Shit for being so wealthy 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Roasting only works with people who are relatively successful and thus secure with where they're at. I mean, nobody roasts a homeless man. Unless they're really hungry.
I thought that was comedy gold. Vanessa's face when they ask her to come up, and Chris' reactions are priceless. But perhaps it wasn't in line with SNL's typical offerings.
@@BeezowDoodooZopittybop-bop-bop Which he isn’t. He can’t take pretty goddamn minor critical jokes. If you can’t take that, how would you be fun to be around.
This reminds me of college when we got this class clown to perform in the senior skit. He totally lost his cool and started ranting at the audience, such a fail.
Everyone I've ever met who swears up and down that they can "handle a joke" or tells you to "take your best shot" always ends up having zero sense of humor and becomes incredibly heartbroken as soon as you make fun of them. That's why the safest thing to do is revert back to a 4 year old and make a generic poop or fart joke....because every idiot on earth _LOVES_ fart/poop jokes.
Isn't this so true though? People love to watch others get criticized but when they get roasted they can't handle it.
Roughly yes
This was another level

Awww 🥰
At least you know your limits
Damn, same. I’d never be able to handle that.
same i'd just believe everything they said
I could take the beginning ones but once’s it moves up I’d be like I’m out u jerks
I wanted to hear more of those roast jokes, lol.
me too
I love you
You're that specimen who wore the MAGA dress.............. And you enjoy Snl?

Why does everyone think this type of comedic personality started with Michael Scott

ingwis Pete uses his dad in his own sets
I know but for her to do it and use it as an opportunity to comment on his skin colour was just so vile.
nah he was pissed cuz she wasnt clever or funny with the joke
Comedy sketches can be satirical.
This seems like a sketch that should involve Kyle...
I agree with this 100% Kyle is amazing is awakward bits like these
Yes yes a million times yes. He would have made it a bit more watchable
He probably wrote it
Paul Richard Brandt ALL sketches should involve kyle
I think Kyle might have helped write it
This was so uncomfortable to watch. Probably because it's too real. There are people like this. No jokes, just ugly reality.
Thats what u commented?
That's probably why it got cut.
That's the point of jokes
Very true, I thought it was funny but it was a bit too real
I agree this was super uncomfortable then also kind of shows off how solid the cast is
I kinda like this. But I wish they had went darker.
Oh ok very specific

I was more irritated by the "protagonist" than anything.
It was cut for time, not because it wasn’t funny enough. Plus the office already did this...
this will get no reactiongs, just awkwardness in the crowd
He’s wearing the mitts the whole time 😂🤣😂 “let the roastinggg continue!”

Ba-dum-tis

Right
Yeah
I wanted the jokes to get real personal, maybe Bennet could've waited a bit longer before breaking.
I agree. With this set up, the darker and more uncomfortable the better.
Gumersindo Cebollero I think it's funny how he couldn't take any criticism.
I think he did in a longer version.
The joke was that he couldn't take any joke, even the smallest jabs.
I'm glad someone else gets the point of this
This guy is a bad father he hates his kids haha
Beck Bennet is a treasure
he honestly is
the hand gestures in the oven mitts are hilarious. 😂🤣😂🤣
His real birthday wish was to roleplay as an 8year old monarch
Vanessas “Happy Birthday” , perfection
Beck is so good at playing a total douchebag in this sketch that I was actually cringing every time he spoke. Bravo 👏🏻 😅

How come the cut for times are always the best.

Vanessa Bayers expression when the camera first pins on her😂😂😂😂
