Bebee Plants has a video with very similar instructions - dry roots on dry leca that I followed for my first soil-to-leca transition with my ficus elastica. Both yours and her instructions are SUPER helpful. I started the transition on Oct 31. My ficus elastica started to droop and looked very thirsty within the first 4-5 days. Leaves were soft, thin and wrinkly instead of firm and stretched. I was flushing water through it to hydrate it without a water reservoir... and even though it was under a humidifier and I live in a NE condo with natural gloomy Canadian daylight, it was not adequate enough to make her happy!! Once I added a grow light, the leaves started to fill out and perk up again. Warmth, humidity and light are SO KEY! When in doubt.... add warmth, humidity or light, not a water reservoir!
Hello! I have been browsing several tutorials, but none as informative and tender-loving as yours. That’s the reason for subscribing to your channel. Thanks a lot and blessings! ❤️ Ada Torres (From San Antonio, Texas)
I'm starting in leca right now. My god you have given me soooooo much information! Thank you! Just starting with my propagating plants. To scared to convert my soil plants, but eventually hope to get the courage to do so! 😁
This is just what I needed. I’ll watch again just to make sure I got it. I just took 2 plants out of soil. I’ll do the hydrogen peroxide spray cause I noticed some rot.
Good stuff! I switched all my plants to LECA early this year and so far love it! I have found the water first option works best. I put the roots into my fish tank that has a heater and filter and they grow new roots so fast.
such a great detailed explanation, I just started this journey of leca conversation and my plants are dying 😅 Rookie mistake I killed that Birkin 😢 only if I listen to this sooner! Thanks again, I see myself coming back to see this a few times.
Hi! I have a question about watering routines in LECA. Should I apply nutrient water to the plant once a month or each time the reservoir runs dry? Also in growing season, should I add more fertilizers etc , feed it more with nutrient water? In winter should I avoid using any nutrient water? Please help :) thanks! Love your videos
Heya thanks for this video...I have a question please. What’s the difference between superthrive and foliage pro? Can you use one or the other? I’m trying to understand the difference between the two and which is better.
Hi. Do you have a video of transfer from soil to water to leca. Just went to water. Plants have good roots. Do i wait one month, then what? Follow method for direct from soil to leca, ie the wash roots and dry? Thanks, learning a lot from you.
Hi, love your leca videos. I have over 200 plants with half in leca and half in cactus mix. I am currently having a major fungus gnat and thrip problem. Would converting the rest of my plants to leca get rid of my fungus gnat and thrip problem? I am Hoping that the answer is yes. Just worried that my anthuriums don’t love leca.
I would say definitely yes....and at the worst, it ahould alleviate. Issues-fungus gnats were a big reason I went to LECA...and I have not had any in 18 months
Help!! I used this method and I swear my fittonia is super droopy and not good!!.. When I let the roots completely dry out it drooped pretty bad and just got worse.. Has not bounced back in 3 days!
Hi, very informative video. I have lots of water propagations, anything from Hoyas to Monstera, my question is, once I transfer to Leca, do I follow this method? Letting the roots get dry and no adding nutrients ...
Another video I watched, said that you didn't really need to do anything special with roots that is water propagated, as it's already used to the humidity.. Do a search, I might be wrong.
Thank you! The first watering....is that immediately after you pot the the plant? Dry roots in dry Leca, then water right away or are you waiting? When you water, you are just pouring the water from the top through the Leca correct?
Okay so you wait for your hoya to get dehydrated everytime or just in the beginning? I have a cutting in leca that has been doing amazing with a water reservoir, it has alot of roots and im probably going to repot it soon
Pretty In Plants do you always wait for the plant to show dehydration before putting water back in the reservoir? Or just in the beginning? Your vids are so helpful! 💗

This is the best video I have found! You have saved me so much worry and anxiety!

Yasss! So great to hear❤️❤️❤️
Would yoy please help me?

Yasss! Good for you!!
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been using LECA for 2 months but have definitely killed a few along the way 😬 this was a nice refresher
Ooh! Thank you for the feedback!!

Your are so smart-I am TOTALLY doing this!!!!!!🐟
Thank you for the info and videos! I’m starting my LECA journey this year

What is the best brand of Leca to use? Where do you buy it?
Hi! What to do if the reservoir is empty? Should I replace it immediately or let is stay dry for a couple of days? Please help, thanks
Thank you for this video. Have you converted a cycas? I have a sago palm I'm itching to convert.
I have not done a sago, but would love to try!!

Thank you so much! I use nutrients every time-but I never increase or change unless the plant shows stress from too many nutrients
Do you ever put Super thrive in the reservoir with the other nutrients? Or do you only spray the roots? Do you use this only one time?
Can epi albo thrive in leca?
Thank you for all the information. You are so thorough. This is greatly appreciated.
You’re so welcome! Happy new year!
Have you put a string of hearts in leca before?
what else is in that cup with the birkin? is it pumice or perlite?
Pumice
@@prettyinplants9580 Oh cool! Do you have a particular leca and pumice mix that you use for certain plants?
I have links beneath all the vids-volcanite mixed with odd shaped-not smooth leca
Well I’ve been doing everything wrong in life. 😂😂 now I can fix it! Thank you!

i put my monstera in a big glass vessel and it’s been 4 days. it’s starting to look a little sad… is this okay?

I will cover this on the next vid
Thanks so much. Appreciated. Do your vids have numbers?
I don’t think so🥰

I do...one month

Do you have to punch holes in the container.
Only above 1”
What do you do if the roots of plant are very long.
I leave them unless there is some sort of rot💚
@@prettyinplants9580 Thank you. How can you tell if the plants are growing in Lecca?
What fertilizer do yo use.
New leaves
Which fertilizer use in leca
Do you feel the easygrowhydro pots grow better than nursery pot/cachepot?
I just love them-I think the growth is the same, but they make it idiot proof
Is the pot lighter when it’s LECA vs. an aroid soil mix? My shelf needs a break 😅
LOL 😂 yes-much lighter-which is why I have to be careful with outdoor plants/wind....blow easily
Thank you! The first watering....is that immediately after you pot the the plant? Dry roots in dry Leca, then water right away or are you waiting? When you water, you are just pouring the water from the top through the Leca correct?
Yes-just pour through-I water right away and then put up on a shelf
Thank you!!
thank you !!!
You’re welcome!
I’m living in Ontario
Any idea where I can purchase Le a.
Thanks
Use toothbrush to brush off dirt and use larger brush for bigger plants.
Sorry, last question. Did you say you mix something with all of your Leca?
I love volcanite-we have a local hydroponic store that sells it and my plants love the mix
Okay so you wait for your hoya to get dehydrated everytime or just in the beginning? I have a cutting in leca that has been doing amazing with a water reservoir, it has alot of roots and im probably going to repot it soon
Then you are on the right track....your plant will tell you by the roots❤️
Pretty In Plants do you always wait for the plant to show dehydration before putting water back in the reservoir? Or just in the beginning? Your vids are so helpful! 💗
Thank you! I just avoid rot at all costs
Can Leca be used for outdoor potted plants?
I do!
Which explains why I lost a few plants in Leca...
Why do you wear gloves?
