    • @rioreason
      @rioreason 5 років тому +2

      Mersian Arts In order to successfully blend any two colors from any alcohol marker brand, you need them to be similar in value and hue. You’d be hard pressed to blend a yellow with a black, but you shouldn’t have much issue blending black with a dark purple. The closer the two markers are in hue and value, the easier they will blend. Also, try the press and flick method. Flick towards the color you want to blend with. There are multiple blending methods - have a look here on UA-cam for Copic or alcohol marker blending methods. They should translate reasonably well to Sharpies. Sharpies have very similar ink to other alcohol markers. Not exactly, but being alcohol based they share a lot of the same properties.

    Does this technique of soaking the paper with ink work on the thin marker paper? The thing about the special professional marker paper is that it doesn’t absorb as much ink and therefor saves your pens so I’m wondering if the non absorbency minimizes the blending properties.

    It's a shame Sharpies, Bics (and likely other alcohol-based markers, including the much-coveted Copics) are not archival and lightfast. They fade and discolor. Google it. It broke my heart to learn it! If you're using them for your art, be prepared to scan your pieces and have prints made if you want them to last.
