I own the full version (as part of Absolute) but I had no idea that there was so much functionality available, and even in the free (Sonic) version! Thanks for the video!
Lots of great sounds, but loading and auditioning presets is a drag. maybe HaLon could implement proxy files or something, like Komplete Kontrol, for instant preview of sounds.
It's really cool, I have the full Halion but I was not aware that even in Halion Sonic you have the full analog synth zone. I don't understand why Halion is not more popular, I think it's much better than Kontakt.
because Steinberg's download and activation process is a complex, complicated nightmare that involves several apps to run in a specific order and is thus prone to fail if you're not already a Steinberg (DAW) user and accustomed to their crappy workflow aka "user experience"... Doesn't mean other companies do a better job desperately trying to "protect" their VSTs etc. with bloated "license services" or "software centres" running constantly in the background hogging valuable resources.
@@CirTap That's a valid point which actually also put me off at first but I gave in. It's a point Steinberg needs to think about. On the other hand at least for someone who creates instruments, the Halion Sonic player is always free and you don't have the stupid distinction between Kontakt Full and Kontakt Player where you need to pay NI if you want your customers to be able to use the free player.
Libraries, dude…. Kontakt is vastly superior with what’s available. Name me your top three romplers in Halion and I’ll destroy them with what Kontakt has. 🤠
thanks for the very articulate explanation. One question i have; Are you recording that into a separate DAW or within the same halion sonic program? i'm guessing its a separate program, but i know this unit is also a stand alone, and was wondering if its capable of making stand alone clips? thanks again for the great video!
Great vid! I bought a second hand keytar today and was just looking for a way to increase pitch bend range for Halion Sonic... I guess it's only available in paid version of Halion? That was a bummer but learned some other stuff here tx!
Hello 👋 Thanks for doing this walkthrough 😊 I am curious about the loops included with Cubase. How do I know which ones are for/work with Halion instruments? Do you know where I can learn more about them? Thanks 🙏
If you have a specific library for HALion Sonic please check if it is activated. Other than that you can get the activations for the free instruments here, by clicking on the red download button and following the instructions: www.steinberg.net/vst-instruments/free/
Hello, I have also Groove Agent 5. Can I load the sounds from GA5 in the HALion Sonic 7? Can anywhere awnser to my question? Thanks a lot and musician greetings Peter Bengelmann

Halion Sonic is such a powerhouse! Incredible that it's actually free!
one of the best explanations! thank you so much!!
Cool jam man!
It's also included with Dorico, the music notation software program also from Steinberg.
Greeaaaat ❤

amazing work thanks for sharing
FINALLY someone decided to feature the HIDDEN Gems in Cubase. Please add FLUX and TRIP to it, and a DEEP dive into them!
would like to see a sequel covering more of the arcane controls.

Does it work with cubase 10.5 ?
Before I go through the process of downloading and installing, etc…is it compatible with Bitwig???
Yes, it works in Bitwig.
@@VSTInstrumentsPlugIns - thanks friend!
Thanks for the video, but Helion Sonic interface is seriously the worst so not user-friendly
