Honorable mentions here go to Vergil, Sentinel, Haggar, Taskmaster, Frank, Ryu, Akuma, Nemesis and Trish, I'd say. A lot of these also happen to be good teammates for a bunch of the characters mentioned here.
As someone that had only played traditional fighters before umvc3, akuma was a great transitional character. All his old combos were preserved so I had something to fall back on when the new things weren't clicking.
Two I'd add for beginners: Frank can be intimidating due to his leveling mechanic, but he's fundamentally a very straightforward character whose execution doesn't change a whole lot across his levels. His combos are quite easy to perform, and with access to multiple OTG options and both ground and wall bounces at all levels, they can go on for a very long time. The most important threshold is level 2 because it gets him his cross-up roll, and can be reached with only a five-hit combo ending a camera shot, which is trivially easy. Beam assists are helpful to get him in, and assists that remain on screen for many hits help him level quickly. If you pick up Frank, I highly recommend learning Super Skrull as well, as both are strong and versatile characters who have some excellent synergies to make use of as you rise in skill. Nemesis is a character who will struggle at high levels of play, but for new players he can be hugely rewarding. He has a winning combination of long, easy combos and high damage output, as well as the ability to reset combos almost brainlessly easily, leading to alarmingly fast kills. Projectile assists are good for helping him get in, and he also benefits heavily from an OTG assist. Nemmy pairs well with many characters, but he has particularly excellent synergy with Hulk, as their assists and DHC supers complement all complement each other very well.
@@OneHeroes totally understandable. I wouldn't put him in the top five easiest either, just close. any character who requires specific knowledge to use properly has to get knocked down a bit on the easy scale on principle. I'd also put forth Sentinel as a beginner-friendly pick, though with some of the same problem as Nemesis with diminishing results as you get better.
@@Paulunatr There are some characters who could have made the cut here too, it really depends on the person who's doing the TOP 5... The experience you had while playing will definitely influence here
Captain America wrecks for noobs with his armor punish is ridiculous and baiting someone. idk what your talking about frank is extremely easy to play. In any mode he is in. I’ve been beaten by level 1 frank lol 😂 He can easily ABC power up and otg. I say he’s easier than RYU and he can spam zombies easily that’s annoying to learn. With a assist or a hype he can power up for a noob. We aren’t talking about his advanced abilities just playing him period. Wesker is also very easy to abc combo and super that’s good damage for just that and easily buffing in derpy teleports
Even though easy, he didn't make it because I don't see him as efficient as these other characters... The idea was to give easy yet efficient characters, and for a beginner to make Ryu work might be hard since he doesn't have a lot going on for him
Nice to see some appreciation for captain america in this game. He's not the best at anything but he's super fun and a pretty damn solid all-rounder, you could pick far worse characters in this game for real. I personally like running him on point since the right assists backing him up make his potential for annoying bullshit pretty strong. Combo conversions off shield slash are extremely satisfying and I just think the multiple shield slash combos are some of the coolest shit. X-factor lvl3 charging star loop combo is hilarious, it's got the big "yes this really exists" energy we all play this game to find. Thumbs up, soldier.
@OneHeroes being a big Incredible Hulk fan growing up, he’s honestly right up there with Spider-Man, I think I know that I’ll be using The Hulk to learn this game with as he’s your top recommendation it appears for new UMVC3 players
@@OneHeroesoh and next time I think it would be good to list your criteria for how you ranked. I figured you made this list for beginners but I think others didn't get that impression.
Thanks @OneHeroes as a big Marvel fan I just bought this game for like $10.00 on Xbox Series X I really want to learn this game and I think this is fantastic
Honestly if you’re just picking up this game now, the top 5 easiest characters to play are the ones you think are the coolest. No one is gonna learn a character they find boring unless you’re already good at the game and are competing in tournaments lol.
Picking the characters you like is always my recommendation because this way you're gonna have more fun, but this is not the same as beeing easiest... Plus, just because you're playing a different character doesn't mean you're gonna find them boring, you gotta experiment and see... Not to mention that some people have one character they wanna play (Spider-Man in my case for example), but are open for suggestions for the other 2...
@@OneHeroes it’s not the same yeah, but what’s the point of playing an easy to learn character if you’re gonna quit anyway because you find the gameplay boring? Yeah you should experiment, but the primary reason someone plays a character isn’t whether or not they’re easy. Its if the character is fun and or fits their play style which is usually synonymous.
I'm gonna say... Picking dante as my favorite character as a new player and seeing how dependant he is of bold canceling and how rough it is to execute on keyboard (Or rough for me only really) is extremely discouraging and since he's one of 3 characters that have my interest i really feel like this game isn't for me.
This can be both true and false. For example, I like MODOK and Shuma as characters. The reason I don't play them is because they're hard as hell to play efficiently. Right now, I find Point Task and Anchor Skrull pretty fun and easy to do basic combos with, although I'm having a character crisis for the character in second position.
Captain america and wolverine i will definitely play, but i need to find a third character. Probably a zoner. So far i am leaning towards ryu though. Also i never really learned to play umvc3 before so i started now. I have played dbfz, a little usf4 and sf6 on release and a little tekken (very casually) This is a big jump for me personally since there are directional inputs I'm not used to as well as movement options in game that are a little more complex in execution. I want to give the game my best since it has characters I've loved since i was a child. One thing for certain that the learning curve won't be so harsh for me is because playing with hitbox/mixbox makes the controls sooooo much easier to execute. It is a lifesaver.
Sentinel is indeed easy to play and has some goods like the assist/hitbox/damage, but he's the easiest character to get hit due to his size and he has little health, so for a newbie he'd probably get hit and die easily... If he had more life he'd definitely make the cut!
If you play different *Characters* in *Ultimate 3* That's okey, is your type of play and that's *GOOD* Extra: thanks for put. *Wolverine Captain America* *Nova Hulk Wesker* (I like them all)
Idk honestly i just went straight to characters that i played in the past (zero cuz i love mega man x series, akuma cuz i love the character and strider cuz listening the blade sound is so satisfying) tbh i think those characters are hard to master but once you do is so satisfying to play them
That's great! I think you should always go for the characters you like! This is just a recommendation for those who are uncertain about the characters they wanna play or for those who want to get those wins in the beginning and are having trouble...
He almost made it... I just didn't put him here because to be effective with him you need some mechanics that might be hard for newbies + one hit he'll die easily
From what I've played so far, Doctor Doom's Plasma Beam assist is also good for Wesker and they also have great yeam super compatibility as well. Also, any advice for doing inputs? I'm having trouble.
Yes, Doom is a good pick for Wesker too! Not really, it's all about practicing... When you start getting it right, you'll create the muscle memory for it!
No. Wesker/Strange is fine. Nova/Strange is fine. Nova/Wesker is not fine. Nova's biggest asset is his ability to cause a crumple state and hard tag into a character that can do huge damage and build a large chunk of bar. Its why Nova/Spencer/Doom (Strange works as well and Mundank runs Magneto on the back end) is so strong. Spencer sets up the crumple state and Doom builds the damage and bar. Wesker does none of those things. Wesker already struggles in the damage department, requiring extremely optimal combos and team supers to get close to 1mil damage. Wesker also doesn't build bar in the sense of building it for the team. He builds enough for himself and an extra one even on good touches
He's easy to use indeed, but his health is terrible... Any hit on Akuma will be KO, so even though it's simple to play as him, it's not as simple to keep yourself alive...
