On paper the Honda is my dream bike. I've looked at it in my local dealers so many times but not bought it. That's because it's got no charm, the RE looks like it's got that.
You‘re comparing a 2025 RE650 to a CL500 from 2024. Due to the Honda getting an instrumentation upgrade next year it’s price will also rise. At the moment it’s possible in Germany to purchase brand new CL500‘s at around €5500,- plus/minus with full works guarantee. Other than that it’s an Ok comparison 😉
It’s what I was told at the Honda dealers when I was last there. I‘m beginning to think that not all models will be upgraded however, let’s just wait and see. Anyway, they’re knocking out the 23/24 models at greatly reduced prices.
That’s understandable and the major criticism from a lot of riders. I also noticed this when having tested a CL500 but, after seeing the prices drop so significantly it wouldn’t bother me anymore.
A friend of mine is now in Milan 🇮🇹 at the EICMA and judging by the picture he just sent me of the new CL500, the instrument cluster looks slightly different. There’s a new sand colour also, the visual rest seems unchanged.
Let's be honest anyone buying a current RE badged bike imported from the Indian sub-continent is simply trying to get on the nostalgia bandwagon "on the cheap". Aimed in the UK largely at geriatrix trying to relive the youth they never had, the "clones" only link to the heritage on once great British marques is the cheapy plastic replica tank badges and a few stick ons probably from AliExpress. The truth is that if a RE badge is pinned on a donkey, it will still be a donkey. Nice and shinny when new these piles of cachu will corrode easily in winter unless sprayed liberably with Waxoil...........

The exhaust on the cl is so high that it's hard to put luggage on. So for exploring and travelling I think the re is better for me.
U can retrofit lower exhaust. But for long distance touring the NX 500 is way better then both.
Me quedo con la Royal Enfield
Thanks for the info on the top speed, I haven't been able to find that anywhere else.
Any time!
BG Music is so much better 2x
Spoke wheels ❤
Honda wins all around. By the way, your HP rating on da Honda was wrong. It's 46.9 in the US.
RE not fit to be in the same comparison. Looks are subjective and I prefer RE, but Honda on all other metrics.
Royal Enfield FOREWER ☝️👍

Whoa, that's interesting. But can't find more about that 2025 upgrade. :/

@@SherKhan-b1kes Thanks for the info. The low light dashboard is one of my biggest drawbacks. :)
