    I’m glad to see that the Mandela effect didn’t effect you from remembering it correctly; the lion laying down with the lamb, and not the “wolf” laying down with the lamb.

    Andromeda is heading our way and there is nothing we can do about it.
    What might be able to comfort those who suffer from panic attacks? Andromeda is many light-years away.

    Not that there aren't genuine things to worry about regarding the future, but it gives me a lot of comfort to know that people have a natural tendency to assume they're at the tail end of human history, even when they're not. It explains a lot about the pessimistic sentiment I get from people these days.

      Depends though on which people. I've also heard the opposite, optimistic about "everything gonna be resolved" or "in the end, peace will come" variant. Either way, I would rather just think about what I can do now no matter what lies ahead. Sure my perspective is more vague than others, but sometimes it's just more realistic to acknowledge there will be something when we act now as long as I take responsibility of that burden or reward or causes or regrets or reliefs. To me, it's our choices & considerations to be part of what visions to be (if heaven then make your life less suffer from deliberately gambling fates, if hell then make your life full of grievous to injustice to complaint all day about nothigness).

      For many Christians and people of the Book in general this is mostly a positive event though, since we're supposed to have a time of peace and the end of death. It's more something we hope for, rather than fear.

    The best thing about failed prophecies is that we get more books when people recalculate

    Does your group/church continue the practice of food storage?
    I'm a borderline prepper (for non religious reasons) and have a lot of interaction with LDS folks as a result.

      @50:19 in modern judaism there is a belief in a future paradisacal society but not a cataclysmic end. For the haredim, modern orthodox, and some conservative/masorti Jews it is an individual king (messiah/moshiach) and in reform and reconstructionist judaism its more a meeting of human potential similar to the bahai vision. However since the time of shabbati tzvi it's generally anathema to refer to any one individual as being moshiach for reasons that should be self evident.

      Meanwhile, there are children on this planet who go to bed hungry every night. But hey, I’m glad all you preppers have peace of mind that you won’t have to go hungry in the case of an imaginary event happening.

    • @OhavYisrail
      @OhavYisrail 9 місяців тому

      @annascott3542 an imaginary event like a job loss/layoff, illness, unexpected major expense? Or perhaps a global pandemic bringing the supply chain to a thudding halt? We prepare so that in these events we are not a burden to relief organizations that frankly struggle to meet the need when times are good. Really it's no different than having a savings account (except of course being food one rotates it more frequently).
      If you really want to talk about solving hunger, look a different direction. In the US we collectively waste more food than is needed to solve world hunger, including roughly 25% of all food brought into the home (closer to 40% up the production ladder). It's not a malthusian scarcity issue, but a getting it to the people who need it issue.

    I honestly wouldn’t mind living through the end of the world. That would be a cool story to tell my kids haha. Of course I’d be dead but to know I lived through the end times would be a point of pride. Even though I wouldn’t technically know it. Think of all the people who die boring deaths. I don’t want to go gently into the good night. Don’t mind me this is just my depression talking. I’m obsessed with death in a suicidal way but have to wait till my mom dies first so the end of the world is a win win for my thought process. Don’t worry about me though just trying to express why some people might be so obsessed with the topic. Life is the hard part for a lot of us and dying is the only way out.

      Cognitive behavioral therapy. Don't do drugs for depression man they don't anything to fix the root cause. The root cause is in our heads. Mostly in our subconscious. There is a way out of that darkness. A way out of the cold and isolation. But it requires us to learn about our own behaviors and thinking processes that keep us in that cycle that will eventually lead to death. Also don't look for happiness happiness is fleeting. Happiness is a box of puppies. But those moments don't last. And they're not meant to. I spent 4 years here doing behavioral therapy and I finally found a sense of well-being and a freedom from a lifelong debilitating disease at 58 years old. Now we're more than 2 years past that mark and I'm doing fine. I am no longer a depressed person. I enjoy my days little moments in life. I don't do any medications whatsoever. I did them for years and they did nothing. I do like you didn't kill myself because of guilt of what it would do to my mom. So I too played the waiting game. And then one day circumstances caused me to really take a deep dive into this. And I started cognitive behavioral therapy. There may be other underlying medical conditions that feed into this. For me it was a combination of learning about my own thinking process but also discovering that I was autistic and never knew it. Once I was able to start getting a grass on how my own mind was a self feeding loop of bad information I was able to start picturing things and seeing and thinking in a different way. 90% of what we feel and think about life is all in her own heads. Change your own thinking suddenly our Outlook and our ability to enjoy and experience the moments in life as they are instead of coding everything with negativity means that we then lose that negativity and are able to join in for our own personal reasons. I would say look into this. Where you live right now I know from personal experience just sucks ass. If you take the time to fix yourself to dig into yourself change will happen. Nothing external will make it better. Only you can do that but you have to be willing to spend the time to dig into it.
