    *If you have this car without the felt flap (the plastic is one continuous piece).* You have to remove the side panel with the airbag sticker (one screw) and then remove the four screws holding the plastic that covers the filter door. Its attached with wires but you can set it down sideways just be gentle so you don't pull any wires out. Then you can remove the door via a clip at the bottom, once un-clipped it slides down and comes off. Mine did not have a filter when I opened it.

    GREAT video, i'm one of those guys who can barely open the hood and after watching this video (okay, I did watch it twice) I was able to change the filter in about 15 minutes really easy!!!

    Excellent documentation & explanation, seems simple enough but if you've never done it it's all a learning experience with light bulbs going off in your head, thank you sir!

    Just curious, what happens if the filter is put in backwards? Or is that possible? Meaning the black side facing the driver side.

      The filter was engineered to have the air flow in one direction. It wont be effective if it is installed backwards. Thanks.

      Richard Lloyd, that makes sense. was just curious. I recently had mine changed but u am noticing that the air isn't blowing out of the door vents very well. Was thinking maybe that could be the cause of it.

      I thought about this a bit more and yes if you put it in backwards it would most likely clog up faster. Most filters work on a series of steps starting with course filter material first to remove the large particles and working down to fine filter material to remove the finer particles that get by. This design keeps the course materials from quickly overwhelming the fine filter material. If you install it backwards the fine filter material will be the first line of defence hit by all the particles and it will quickly be saturated (clogged up) stopping air flow. Thanks.

    Why are you saying the airflow arrow is wrong? I got my filter for another car and it's the same arrow flow written on it. Air should go through the white first to filter out the leaves bugs etc and then you go through the carbon which filters smell and odor no?

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  7 років тому +1

      Assume the arrow is correct. Thanks.

      I had to install it opposite of arrow to. The side notches don't lign up the other way. It's a FRAM carbon filter.

    Thank u for this! Just curious...Why the airflow arrow is in opposite direction? Is it a mistake the air filter factory made? Or it is due to Hyundai 2003's specific design? I'm just a little bit too surprised to believe how a professional air filter factory could make such a silly mistake of marking the arrow wrong!? Thx!

      I am not sure why either but it is still working great for me. Thanks.

    Is this filter not in a 01 - 06 from the factory?

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  7 років тому +1

      It should be installed from the factory. Thanks

      Wait do you mean you didn't had one installed? I was talking to my dad abut changing mine and he mentionned who he has a 04 Santa Fe that when they replaced his filter there wasn't any there in the first place? I couldn't believe him at first but then I see your comment.

      I just followed this in opening up our 2004 Santa Fe, only to find no filter. That's so bizarre.
