    I found the issue the tone arm slides toward the right side is 4 wires to the cartridge kind of slightly tight or stiff. It becomes worse when I pull the wires too much to replace the cartridge.

      The wires are too stiff yes. But it shouldn’t influence playback. How did you set up the tracking force?

      @@rollingtroll The wires are stiff and little tight. I opened the bottom cover, removed the hot glue they used to fix wires. And, adjust the screw on the tonearm lift lower or higher to leave as less gap as possible. The issue the tonearm sliding toward the right side is quite headache when I want to locate the exact track manually. The turntable of C6 is a copy of the Pro-Ject turntable. After good tuning, C6 works pretty good. I have a C6 named KTC6 came with a S300 Bluetooth speaker from Walmart which has anti skate and auto stop.
      I have another marantz 6300 and Sony PS-6750 to play with audiophile system, and easy listening by C6 while working. The Bluetooth function is quite convenient to portable BT speakers and BT headphones.

    Hey just a quick question. If I used a separate phono preamp and switched the output to phono on my turntable, would it still work effectively, or would switching from line to phono also turn the amplifier off? You mentioned that bluetooth wouldnt work but that wouldnt be a deal breaker for me. Thanks!

    Excellent review! I found this on sale for $160 but wanted to do a little research before I bought it for my daughter. She just got her first apartment after graduating from college and wants to get into vinyl. Would you recommend this at that price for a beginner like her, or spend the extra $ on something better? Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the great review.

      If looks don't matter I would go for an audiotechnica atlp60 bluetooth model with a nice IKEA eneby 20 bluetooth speaker. The eneby is a gem and I feel that the atlp60 will eventually outlast this one. Alternatively you can get the atlp60 and a pair of edifier or Mackie active speakers. They are cheap and not shit.
      Personally I would probably go the second hand route with "real" hifi but that is obviously always a risk :)

    Thanks for your review! I have a quick question, I just bought the C62 version and I noticed that some songs sound like they are playing a little be slower than the songs normal tempo when streaming the song. Is this normal? I have the speed set on 33 so I expected it to sound normal.

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  11 місяців тому +1

      There’s adjustment pots at the bottom of the device you can turn with a small flat head screwdriver. There’s apps on your phone th at allow you to see how fast the phone is rotating. Should be 33.3 and 45rpm. I use one called turntable speed. Keep in mind that sometimes (not sure if that is the case with the c62) the 33 speed also influences the 45. So make sure you always set 33 first.

    Great work man!! So in my point of you since I be using it for the last 4 years (and I am happy) is that you need to do the following steps. First you need to take care of the stylus issue which is not so difficult, then buy a phone preamp with Bluetooth and that is pretty much it. Well if you have some more money you can change the cartilage too and get some more balanced speakers but that is extra. Correct me if I am wrong here.

    Great video! Actually I received as a present crosleyc62 one year ago and I enjoyed it very much. I had difficult time to explain some friends this was actually not bad for a beginner like me. Now I'm trying to upgrade step by step my set up. If I correctly understood you are suggesting to change ASAP the preamp right? Can I use the preamp+active speakers? And which preamp do you suggest? I'm thinking to buy good active speakers (klipsch r51pm) so I can use the Bluetooth directly from them bypassing the turntable. Do you think this makes sense? Thank you so much. Amazing contents!

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  Рік тому +1

      You absolutely can use a preamp with active speakers. Depending on your budget I would either go for the analogis easyphono, project phonobox or schiit mani. The more expensive the better, in this case.
      Klipsch is not a bad choice in this case. KEF’s LS50 is also a decent choice. Going for an affordable second hand amplifier and speakers is a cheaper option that will eventually sound better. May be worth looking for an NAD C320 and a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 3 Mission 760i. Lovely combo with a good phono preamp! It you want to buy only new Yamaha, NAD, Cambridge or Rotel are amplifier brands to look at, speakers are nice by Dali, Elac, Dynaudio and Klipsch.

    The complaints about Crosley are basically all focussed on the suitcase players... because Crosley became synonymous with those Cruizer suitcase players...
    These C6 ones are actually decent starter turntables!
    Btw, those bypass switches, are those implemented properly?
    Do they only partially bypass the excess circuitry or actually everything?
    Btw, another great budget phono preamp is the ART DJ Pre II.
    I've had one for some time to do testing, but gave it away to a friend who started out into records... I think he's still using it.

    Hello Sir, great video as always. Do you recall me upgrading my system with a Cambridge amp,Nad cd player and mission mx1 speakers. I couldn't get a good sound out of them. They were too bright, loads of treble and not much low end. I cranked the bass right up on the Azur 650 and damped the treble,not good sound. I did some research and in the end bought new/old stock Wharfedale diamond 220s. They are superb, neutral on the bass and treble settings on the amp,it's more than enough. I've had a PDX pre amp for 2 years and can't fault it for £30 new.

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  2 роки тому

      Mission sounds pretty hyped but it shouldn't be THAT bad. May I ask; did you use speaker cable with silver, by any chance? Because that's always aggressive and bright. Still, cambridge and Mission, shouldn't be overly bright. I haven't heard the MX1, I have heard models 'like' it and they were pretty nice sounding.
      I'm not the biggest Mission fan, don't hate them though!
      I have never heard a small Diamond I didn't like. Enjoy that upgrade!
      Googling PDX, never heard of. Do you have a model number so I can look into it?
      For reference, classic small Mission sound:
      ua-cam.com/video/Q2MFDKW-vAw/v-deo.html
      Bit harsh, bit boomy, but not 'ridiculous'. NAD is pretty comparable to your Cambridge, sound-wise.
      Happy you liked the video. not going to lie; I was pretty happy about it as well!
      Record player now had its photoshoot (I always do them) and is ready to leave.

      I've looked up the pre amp and here on Amazon UK it's made by Power Dynamics and the model is PDX 010. It's a bargain at £28. I used 14 guage oxygen free copper speaker wire. It's not an expensive cable. Could I ask a question? I keep hearing banana plugs are illegal in UK and Europe,is it true? What's the best speaker connectors for my Cambridge azur and is bi wiring better?

    Yes this gets loud .. for what it is vintage records yes it will sound a little more like high fi stereo ... But for reissue stuff it just sound boomy witch isn't bad either ... And not the bad boom fuzz ... Over all I can say ... For a way to listen to vintage stuff it's a 8.5 for me cus I look at this as a hook self style record player .. and that's what I wanted was a decent turn table with a little kick to it like this ...

    • @TheVTRainMan
      @TheVTRainMan 21 день тому

      @@shauncronin3961 You have to use the RCA with line out to an external amp (that has bluetooth transmitter or (headphone jack if you can live with wired)). You might be able to use an RCA to 3.5mm adapter cable directly to headphones (either female with headphone wire connected in or get a longer cable to hook directly to headphones that allow that), but the impedance might not match the headphones and sound will suffer. You can also set the turntable to "line", then use the rca->3.5mm male to connect directly to a line in on any stereo device that has it. Then use the stereo component to drive headphones, which might be better. I did this on my son's karaoke machine that didn't have rca inputs and worked good.

    Sounded better than I thought it would. Not my cup of tea but I reckon this is perfect for a person who is just starting out. The mids were odd sounding to me but maybe that was just the record or the recording. Not bad though. I reckon a cartridge swap to an AT-VM95E would be good.

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  2 роки тому +1

      The mids are definitely somewhat lacking, but it is a recording that's somewhat 'retro'. I'm limited to what I can use unfortunately because of music rights and whatnot :D.
      AT-VM95E would not work as you can't set the anti skating any lower. It would be way too high for a cart that has a lower VTF (I mention that in the video, even :D).
      Purely for the arm itself you should be looking at something like a Nagaoka MP110. The AT-VM95E and the AT-3600L are both too low compliant. But with a non-adjustable anti skating, I'd just stick to this cart. You'd be surprised how close the AT-3600L is to the AT-VM95E. That 3600L is honestly a bit of a gem for 30 bucks.

    Great video, thanks! I used a stock kit, changed the cartridge to at-VM 95 SH, bass appeared, and the sound got better, but I felt that the tops were overloaded. Can you share your thoughts on why this might be and what needs to be fixed?

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  Рік тому

      [there's an edit below, but I'll leave the initial text in as it has some useful info]
      The AT-VM95E is a little bit brighter than the AT-3600L. Also it's a much lower compliance cart, it may not quite match the arm. Should though, that arm doesn't seem to be too heavy. Output voltage of the 3600L is slightly higher than the AT-VM95E. So that won't be too loud either. All I can think of is that you are pushing slightly more resolution/detail through a very, VERY bad phono preamp. I personally don't think this preamp is worth a cart upgrade :).
      Also with an arm that tracks 'meh' (due to, I presume, stiff arm cables) playing with a slightly higher VTF (Tracking force) may be quite beneficial. I can imagine this arm having issues at 2 grams, that it may just 'plough through' at 3.5 grams.
      Edit; I just see you used the SHIBATA. That's an absolute waste of money on this record player. Also shibata's are notoriously hard to setup. The ML is much friendlier when it comes to this. You really cannot get a shibata to sound right on something that doesn't track very well and has, at least, adjustable anti-skate.
      I suggest you try the AT-VM95E stylus instead, should work a little better. But honestly, because of the above, I'd stick with the 3600L.
      But yes, with how much more a shibata reveals and with how incredibly bad this preamp is at dissolving highs, you'd want a woolier cart, not a brighter one. And the SH (Honestly, I prefer the ML) is definitely a lot brighter than the E, let alone the AT-3600L.
      Seriously though, zero parts of this record player are worth that stylus. Honestly I think the "E" Is already overkill. Please save that Shibata for something with a decently tracking arm, nice build and a good preamp. You won't turn a mediocre record player into a good one with a different cartridge :).

    Als altijd een leuke video! Het lijkt inderdaad zeker geen slechte setup. Toch blijf ik het grappig vinden dat ik (2de hands uiteraard) een paar B&W DM4's, een Sansui AU-D101 met TU-S33, een Sansui SR-525 met AT-VM8 én een of ander goedkoop bluetooth receivertje heb gekocht voor ongeveer €200. Het verschil tussen dat en de Crosley is voor zover ik kan beoordelen toch wel heel erg groot. Bedankt nog voor de uitgebreide demonstratie!
    Ik bedenk me net dat die €50 bijna genoeg is voor een Cambridge 551P (of een 540P) ;)

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  2 роки тому +1

      Natuurlijk, maar dit koop je nieuw. En laten we wel wezen, die sr525 doet normaal tweedehands al 200 euro met die AT-VM8 eronder. Setje DM4 doet 175 en de AU-D101 zit ook al tegen de 100. Dat zijn dus gelukjes!
      Ik heb voor deze Crosley 100 euro betaald, dat leek me een 'daarvoor kun je het proberen'-prijsje.
      V.w.b. de Cambridge; ik had een 640p, heb hem geruild voor een Schiit mani die hem echt heel erg hard in maakte, en intussen ontdekt dat de Schiit mani niks beter is dan de pro-ject phonobox. Dus als je een leuke phono pre zoekt voor 50-60 euro, phonobox, met voorsprong :)

I remember in the 70’s (I’m 65 yrs old) my BIC turntable which was not high-end, gave me excellent full range - Today, unless you spend $750 or more you get a thin-tin sound.
