I've witnessed 2 manic bipolar episodes (1 year apart) of someone in my life a couple years back. Fousey's exhibited so many symptoms of it, it's hard to imagine that's not the case. It's one of the most stigmatized, misunderstood, and unfair mental illnesses I know of. A truly terrible situation.
Really what I wanna help people understand about a manic bipolar episode is the situation it puts the victim in, because that's the part that's so often overlooked. When you're manic, you're not "you". To put it simply, you've completely lost your marbles for a time (typically several months). To others, you're excessively energetic, overly confident, financially reckless, and have delusions of grandeur (on top of psychotic behaviorisms, and an illogical thought process). You *seem* self-aware, but nothing anyone says truly gets through to you. You're not around to hear what they have to say.
One of the most painful aspects of watching someone with this condition is witnessing their livelihood, relationships, and reputation crumble in the wake of their manic actions. For some reason, people assume you CHOSE to go insane, and point the finger accordingly. The fact manic people are such unlikeable characters doesn't help much, either.
It's definitely something that should be kept under wraps. I'd imagine the worst thing that could happen to a manic person is to have their situation publicized the way Fousey's is. So unfair. The most I think his audience can do in this situation is simply understand. Educate themselves, and don't think less of him for it.

My dad just had a manic episode that caused him and my mom to divorce in december. It breaks my heart when people see bipolar people and brush them off as being jerks or someone to laugh at when they're going through such a terrible mental break. I want to see more bipolar people portrayed in the media realistically and given help instead of being laughingstocks or villains.

Watching the first half of today’s show has reminded me why I keep tuning into your show day after day. I honestly could care less about 90% of this UA-cam coverage you do (but that’s just me personally not being as into that many UA-cam personalities as others). But hearing your coverage on the first half today’s show was both fascinating and enthralling. I really enjoyed your perspective on the piece, because while I was expecting to be all cyclical and laugh at the misfortunate ignorance of others, I was delightfully caught off-guard by your genuine perspective and intelligent response to the situation. The fact that you took it a step further to look at the root at the problem and what cause the actions instead of what many others do and just report the actions and their opinions on said actions.

I’ve had a couple friends try and work for Amazon fulfillment in the US. It’s a terrible job... they had awful schedules, pay and general treatment. However they needed the job, so when they were let off after just a few months it was devastating. What Amazon does often is hire and fire in mass so they don’t have to give any benefits or raises. It’s really sad especially how much I love shopping from Amazon. I think 2 day shipping is really great for customers but absolutely insane for workers. I am definitely shopping less at Amazon and definitely respecting any strikes and boycotts.

I have bipolar disorder and I’m currently experiencing a manic episode which is why i completely agree with you when you say he might be manic. Here are some things we have in common right now-
1) he thinks people’s energies are “jinxing” his event- this is something I do all the time when I’m manic, I think that peoples energies are affecting me and I really can see and feel peoples energies (obviously its in my head but i truly truly think its real and he “stood by every word [he] said” as he mentioned in the podcast)
2) He did everything he could to find this one famous person and he thinks that doing that one thing is going to change his whole life or has a deeper meaning than it actually does- this is something I have experienced almost every time I’ve been manic and its literally like an epiphany and I truly believe that if i do an otherwise insignificant thing that it will change my life forever so I will chase that thing no matter what, which he did with drake.
3)He also has many other symptoms such as him freaking out on sam pepper even though he wasn’t matching his energy- this is something that I experience with mania thats basically me ignoring social cues and not knowing that everyone around me is uncomfortable by me and still being really obnoxious.
I’m in no way shitting on him or diagnosing him but I do see many similarities between our symptoms- although its important to note that bipolar disorder can make you do some of these things but bipolar disorder DOES NOT make you an asshole, and he’s definitely being an asshole.
