I hope you continue with this 7X57 series.
I just got a New (Yes. New, unfired, in box.) Ruger No.1 in 7X57 Mauser. It's actually stamped ".275 Rigby" on the barrel.
After many years of enjoying shooting sports, I'm getting into hand loading.
I just got a shipment of 156grn Norma Oryx and Barnes 120grn TTSX and a couple of flavors of Speer.
I'm definitely going to be loading the Barnes and Norma's for the 7X57 Ruger. But also for my 7mmRm and 7mm-08 rifles.
I'm looking for all the info I can get.
For this year's hunt I'm going to use my Winchester M70 in 7mm-08 using Barnes' 120grn TTSX.
But for next years I'm going with a 9.3X62 Mauser and a 7X57 Mauser. Both are Ruger No.1's. Should make things interesting.
I have Oryx and A-Frames for the 9.3X62. Then Oryx and Nosler ABLR for the 7mm Mauser.
I'll be interested in any more 7X57 vids you post. Thanks.

It will be continuing, in some form or another!
I plan on seeing how long this barrel lasts before I decide to rebarrel it. Then I'm probably going to treat it like a true sporter, and go with a shorter barrel and lighter contour.

that alligator skin/crazing doesn't look too bad-i have a rifle with crazing that shoots 1.3" with 150 grainers and H335

That stainless Savage you have is one beautiful rifle. I have never seen the barrel setup you have before.I like the Savage rifles, I own a 110 in 7mm Remmie and a .22LR. What is the barrel life for the 7mmx57mm? Have you ever made 7mm x 57mm brass from 30-06 or .270 Win?

I'll address barrel life first - this barrel is used and abused, and I'm still getting sub-MOA for random load work-ups at about 3000 rounds. To play it safe, I'll say "at least 3000 rounds" because part of the reason for this barrel was to test how sporter profiles react to heat, as well as if the old-wives' wisdom about Stainless Steel have a more pronounced drop-off in accuracy when it reaches the end of life is true or not. Since I used and abused this barrel a bit TOO much (I went 400 rounds without cleaning it, once, and was still able to get 1/2" groups - however, I let it sit for a month or more, purposely, and got some surface-level rust in the barrel, oof) I'm not sure how representative this barrel would be for barrel life anymore. But 7x57 is not a high pressure round, and is really meant for moderate-to-heavy bullets going moderate velocities. Barrel life should be pretty good!
That said, I have made brass from 30-06 and .270 Win before! It's a bit more of a pain, because you have to trim them so much. I actually bought a Redding Form and Trim die and made a video about it: ua-cam.com/video/mg_WH_HihAo/v-deo.html
But, yeah! This platform/rifle is a Shaw Mk VII. They take a Savage action, and modify/accurize it. Here's a link to their overview and custom rifle builder: www.shawcustombarrels.com/rifles/the-mk.-vii-custom-rifle/4
Here is a link to their already-made rifles, which are on sale for the rest of this month, as a part of black friday: www.shawcustombarrels.com/shop/category/mk.-vii-rifle/60
