Thanks for posting this good info! I struggle to take the mouthpiece off my face in short rests because it gets slippery and that makes everything feel uncomfortable. Any thoughts for working on that?

Do you overall do not like a slippery feel on the mouthpiece or is it more of an issue from the replacement of the mouthpiece after removing it from the lips to the exact same spot and feel?

      couple thoughts...
1 - I've observed that many horn players get obsessed with having the mouthpiece in exactly the right place, and get uncomfortable if they haven't obsessively placed the mouthpiece. Whereas those who cultivate resilience, don't really care if the mouthpiece is a millimeter to the left or right or above, which creates a sense of big comfort & trust in terms of where the mouthpiece lands after a breath. So if this describes you, you need to emotionally & mechanically deconstruct the rigid obsession with having the mouthpiece in the right place, in order to truly gain comfort with this.
2 - in the meantime, consider anchoring the mouthpiece on the bottom lip as you take a breath an remove the mouthpiece from only the top lip. that will help get blood flow back to the top lip, which usually suffers more quickly.
