Chevy Cruze - Leaking Water Outlet
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 кві 2024
- In this video I have a look at a customer's 2015 Chevy Cruze that was towed in because it over heated on the lady. A visual inspection showed that the water outlet housing had been leaking for a while and the car finally ran out of coolant. Let's get it fixed for this lady.
-Enjoy!

Nobody will quit watching your videos Eric, a day without SMA is like a day without sunshine.
A day without sunshine is like...well, night. 😁
And I'll happily watch SMA vids all night. 👍
...and a day without sunshine is like... night. :)
Even if the repair is "stupid" the commentary is always gold.
And still contains useful information a lot of times.
It gives me the confidence to do it myself should the need arise.
well said tattoo

Like all these other guys are saying, we’ll join you no matter what’s up. Between your sixth-sense for finding broken wire money shots, to your general spit-your-drink-out level of comedy, you are such a pleasure to watch, and we are so lucky that you keep on keeping on making videos for us to learn from. Thank you Eric.
Very well said!
To hard to make out of aluminum plastic much cheaper lol😢

Im Norwegian. I come here not only for the education, but for the presentation. "Well there's your problem lady", "its got the big 5-0 in it", "we got ourselves a Hondoo", "from Napa(r) not a sponsor" and so on and so on has become the Pinnacle of mechanical terms in my mind. There is no such thing as a "boring SMA"-video, the presentation is half the meal.
Meat nugget
Showing the bs that happens on the daily is way better than sunshine and rainbows that other channels show. You're a real mechanic, not a parts changer. Showing how you muscle through the unexpected, and thought process for solutions is gold.
I love Eric O
Best Automotive channel on YT.

Yep said that many times.
Prolly the best Auto Shop on the block as well. lol
Eric, just wanted you to know how much I appreciate that you make these videos...
Ditto
I was today years old when I found out IRL stands for in real life…
Eric is always spreading his wisdom in one way or another.
TIL...Today I learned, there's another one for you, if you didn't know beforehand. lol
I had to look it up, weeks ago.
IYK,YK!
As a diyer , your videos are neither silly nor stupid. I learn something from each one plus the entertainment value is better than cable tv. I seriously doubt anyone will stop watching.
Please put the Honda video out, we love em all and we don't see Hondas often. You're the best! Thanks for everything.
I agree anything unusual I would like to see as not everyone owns a Chevy,Ford Dodge & a lot of the other brands there is no videos out there.
That's a super common issue on the 2.4 engines, would love to see how Eric approaches it.
Any repair video of yours is always entertaining no matter the content
"Gotta get yourself a new o-ring. If you didn't, don't worry about it. I didn't and I'm not worrying about it. At least not now." Spit my coffee across the room.
Post whatever videos you have. They're all good and informative.
That O-ring is on the overflow hose. Zero pressure. And even if it leaks, no big deal.
Wow, that Eco Tech is once again car show ready thanks to Eric! 🎉🎉😂😂
Hi Eric, Well at least you have Mrs.O. bringing you a Cup of Hot Coco!!😁
Keep posting all the content you can! As a 30 year veteran of the game, I always think someone will find your professional diagnostic and repair process very useful.
The fact that you've been doing vids for yrs while running a busy shop is pretty great, and it's a pleasure to watch and learn. Short or long, no vid is stupid if it helps someone. Thx Eric.
It has nothing to do with WHAT you are doing. It is HOW you do it that keeps me watching. And, everyone gets in a funk at some time. Personally, when I sense a funk coming, I pop my DVD of Apocalypse Now into the player and by the time Martin Sheen is hacking that water buffalo apart, I feel great! I am 10 years older than the state of Alaska, I have no time for funk. 😁
Lemme tell ya's somptin. Videos made in a real shop, by a real tech, using real language all that combined with great oration skills, a great script (whether ad lib or preconceived matters not) good videography and vid editing and you have the ingredients for an interesting channel.
I understand the funk, I want a channel (at least a channel that is well received like 56k views in 16 hours well received) but I have nothing that interests me in my life so I am sure there is nothing interesting to share on YT. You are an enigma, great guy, great tech, nice shop and a good channel. Stop beating on yourself and enjoy the fact you are ok in many ways.
Peace out Brother.
Did a remarkably similar job , as in 3 hoses, 3 bolts, similar black plastic part on an Audi a2. Actually had to go back and check what car you were working on 😅
You don't have to be in a funk. Sometimes the good stuff come sin the door and you get an amazing diag video, and some weeks it is just a parade of dead sensors and cracked water pipes. It is the nature of the business, and your approach to it all is good and positive. If nothing else, it is nice to know that you can still work on a newer car without needing a degree in rocket science.
May i remind you... we watch to experience the same frustrations we encounter as the general public. Having stuff go wrong helps us identify and connect with SMA better
Don't over think the videos or the content. By now you should know we are here for you. The good, bad and the ugly are all part of the job. Just keep the videos coming as you can. Always remember the success of your business is the most important.
The Chinese aluminum ones are on Amazon !
Any good?
As tempting as it is to go aluminum, I think I’ll stick with the OEM plastic before going to Chinese aluminum. As always, a very enjoyable video. Thank you.
@Richard_Gobbler. I just did this repair less than 2months ago using a aluminum part from Amazon. I have had zero problems with it since install. I did change out the aftermarket connector that goes to the coolant fill jug. So I can continue to use OE coolant hose and not have to look for aftermarket hose. Parts interchanged without issue, I would do this repair again and not think twice about it.
@@johnfalco9528 thank you
You will never put out a stupid video. I love your commentary, wisdom and great sense of humor. Thank you, sir, and keep them coming food, bad or ugly. Thanks.
There are 100s of videos showing auto repairs, but yours are gooder than the others, tips and tricks, integrity, honesty and of course Mrs.O and her banter, we all see how she is your rock star. just remember Eric if you make it we will watch it. thanks much for all you all do.
I always appreciate when you put out a new video, but of course if it ain't happening it ain't happening. Just remember we'll still be here when you do feel the desire to have someone to talk to while working. Thanks.
We come for the humor and the chatter. I have always learned something from every episode. You worry to much. Just film & be you.
You have a talent besides being a mechanic, entertaining others in your videos
So entertaining and at same time learning something
This is the formula
I'll take your *worst* video over essentially anything on "regular" TV. Great as always, Eric. Thanks.
While your in there, go ahead and do the turbo coolant lines, the thermostat and water pump, i would also probably change the headgasket. The turbo waste gate seat is probably cracked and i bet the timing cover and oil pan bolts have slowly backed out over time and is causing it to leak oil. Dont forget the automatic breather vent the valve cover develops to make a secondary air source. If you cant tell, these engines and i have a great history. Oh yea i forgot, change the front crank seal before it starts chirping like a bird is caught in a fan blade. Dont forget the "drill a hole in the rear axle beam and spray it full with wd40 so it stops cracking when turning tsb". I applaud you gm for this wonder piece of engineering you call a chevy cruze. You truly care about the consumer.
I always learn something from your videos as well as being entertained. Thanks
Hello Eric : Think of your product somewhat like the "Field of Dreams" If you make a video "We Will Watch It". Your presentation is top notch. The satirical commentary second you none. For this viewer " It is a better day With SMA".😊
Always a good video with the additional informational, comedic commentary 😂
Many folks barely care about the actual repair lol! Now it’s about the awesome relatable commentary 😂 I often wonder if you ever saw that coming when you first started the channel.
If Eric O. was painting a wall in the SMA shop, we would watch him talk about it! I have to go to work on Rusty Hyundai so SMA gives me the encouragement to tackle the job! Thanks SMA!
I've always wondered what those wings on the connector were called. Now I'll just call them "dongers"! 😉The car manufacturers must have all gotten together and decided to create plastic cooling system failure points. My Dodge had a molded plastic Tee, in the heater core circuit, but I cut it out and replaced it with a PEX brass Tee fitting so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I've always enjoyed watching, as I find your videos to be very informative!
I think most of us would watch you eat lunch, so don't worry about how stupid a video might be. 😂
Roll back to some earlier videos and you can see some fine lunches made by Mrs O.
Another comprehensive diagnosis, a competent analysis, a complete repair for a competitive cost. What a great service SMA provides. Avoca has a Jewel.
Been watching your videos 10 years Eric. There's a reason why you have nearly 900K subscribers. I knew way back when you had 5,000 subscribers that your channel was going to be huge.
Whoa! I've actually done this job on my buddy's 14 Cruze. These things really are the gift that keeps on giving. Pressure test the cooling system, find a leak at the thermostat housing, repair, repeat pressure test. Leak at the water outlet. Fix, repeat. Water leak at the turbo return line - for Pete's sake! We also did the upper (driver's side) radiator hose, and the clamp on the radiator end was a humongous PITA to get to. We took out the battery w/tray and the PCM. This car can take a long drive off a short pier for all I care (as long as nobody gets hurt, of course).
you spoke of 'business interruptions.' .. While unavoidable these are where Mrs O, the OFFICE MANAGER, is worth her weight in GOLD. Yeah, there's times when you two must collaborate but generally she's the 'one' to clear the hurdles leaving you free to focus on mechanic's puzzles.
Everyone has said pretty much what I was thinking. But to be honest, I usually quit watching channels when the content changes so much that it's not the same. There is another two channels I watch for years and have quit. They have gone away completely new direction from the reason I watched them in the first place. Keep up the good work Mr O. Remember, take a break if you need. We will be here when you put out another video.
I ain't never going to stop watching your videos!
Even if you are not a DIY er, watching Eric's videos and hanging out with him would be very fun! Thank you Eric! 🌸
A video from you is like visiting an old friend … doesn’t matter if what you’re working on is “silly” … you still get to see your old friend.
And that is something worthwhile.
I haven't watched the video yet, only saw the thumbnail. My sarcastic self said well there's something different, ha. Water outlets, turbo chargers, pcv in the valve cover, oh and the check valve thingy in the intake manifold. Thanks for posting.
Eric, just remember the really dumb jobs are the ones many of us are planning to do this weekend. Dumb things break. Inexperienced folks fix them. You give us the motivation to fix things instead of letting them go.
I would watch anything you put out! It must be hard work remembering to talk to yourself(us) constantly, and have it flow as it does.
Keep up the great work, its all great. Appreciate you !
Brotherman, your videos are far from stupid. Life/work/running a business gets in the way, no worries, we will be here. The absolute comedy of commentary is awesome by itself, and then we get tidbits of golden knowledge. Thanks for all you do. I hope you know we got ya. Stay safe, and God bless
I think pretty much any video you make will get watched, Eric. You don't necessarily need to make it super informative on every video. A "day in the life" video where you just show a little of each job you meander through in a typical day would still be entertaining because it's you. Maybe you need a little more feedback - do one of your live videos for an hour; it's been a while since the last one I think. Keep it up - we're out here for you.
I've been watching your videos since you started, always good videos!
I have a sonic with the 1.8, different motor, same issue. Lots of people replace the thermostat housing on the 1.8 and 1.4 with the aftermarket one that is made of metal. Jury is still out as to wether the potmetal is any better than the plastic in the long term. Once you've replaced all the factory cooling system components on the 1.8, they're ok beaters. Once you send the 1.4s to the junkyard, they get melted down into new thermostat housings to keep the 1.8s on the road.
OMG Eric O! You didn’t push the little metal clip in all the way on blah blah blah blah… I just wanted to make sure you had someone bitching and whining about something today Eric, that way it didn’t seem outta the ordinary for ya😂😂. All your videos are gold sir. Doesn’t matter if you were spreading peanut butter on cheese. I’m sure a lot of people would watch. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That’s another great video for your archives. Always great stuff.
I enjoy all your vidoes learn something new all the time, Thanks for posting LOL
Mr O always a pleasure watching your videos. Informative and great humor.
Great way to start your day with an SMA video. Keep on wrenching.
I look forward to your videos every day. Keep up the great work
If we had one of you for each 500 people in the United States, it won't be enough sure like your channel. Ken from Western North Carolina
Not everyday is a unicorn farting rainbows. I appreciate when you show the videos of the “ah crap” moments, real life stuff.
Another video you made it look easy. Like my pop always said, “If it was easy, everybody would do it.”
Thanks for taking us along for the ride
Appreciate you pumpin out vids even with the funk
Always great videos Eric O. Your channel is the first one I check for new videos. Very informative.
Thank you Eric for you time and effort in supplying us with videos- it’s all good as you and your wife are- Thanks
I love how straight to the point you are. Rainman ray loves to blabber on and onnnnnnn. I think he talks more than he works.
I’ll watch whatever you post, all your videos are entertaining.
I enjoy the mundane repairs as much as the hard ones. Thanks for bringing us along.
Another great morning from SMA
Eric, your videos are always entertaining and educational. Just real things in your daily work and life are presented with wit and humor. Always a good watch!
Your the best, keep putting out whatever you want, we'll watch.
Wearing my SMA long sleeve shirt while watching SMA and eating lunch. Fantastic!
A very common vehicle up our way near Buffalo. Thanks for the video. Helping olders with these vehicles is a constant. Thanks again Eric!!!
I absolutely love my Cruze. Its a 13 LTZ RS 1.4 Turbski with 212k i got in November and put 12k on it since then. I've replaced all the common things with oem GM stuff so i didnt have to worry about it. Ive bought and fixed and sold over 200 cars and it's one of my favorites. We just bought my wife a one owner 12 Cruze Eco and she loves hers.
Will be waiting on the turbo replacement vidieo for the Cruze Eric. Thanks for posting.
Thing about your vides is that even the ordinary is useful and enjoyable. I never fail to learn something!
Your videos are like comfort food. Gotta have it.
Eric I appreciate all that you do for us and I thank you for pushing through to give us content even when you feel burned out or like it’s not a quality video. We learn everytime you publish, and just like penetrating oil, you give us the courage to torque the bolts on our car as shadetree mechanics.
Always enjoy your videos! I appreciate the fact that you continue to make them even tho you think they are not that great (they are), Shows all aspects of the business.
I like that "car show purposes".
Ur videos are great and wisdom is great. Enjoy your videos no matter what it is. Give me confidence to work on my own car. Keep up the hard work
Plastic and heat. Planned obsolescence indeed. What's happened to GM lately? Don't sweat it Eric. We always learn something from your videos. Thanks.
Love the money light showing up in the back glass as you ended the video. Keep up the great work.
Your videos have helped me tremendously. It's great to be able to look over your shoulder, watch you work and listen to your instruction and information. Thank you for making them!
Rare to see a Cruze on the road now. SMA keeping this one alive for another year or two. Looked at getting one but went for a Sebring. Another car you never see anymore. All long gone to the scrap yard.
I agree with most, education is great, but the commentary is the best. Thank you
Keep the videos coming Eric. UA-cam wouldn’t be the same without SMA!!
Everyone would lose if you stop your videos. I learn so much. Keep up the great work.
You make the videos, we will watch them!
Nice fix Mr. O. Keep up the good work!
I love the big check engine light on the wall of the shop! So cool!
I will Never quit watching your videos Mr.O it's SMA and Rainman Rays repairs for me both very entertaining the only two channels I watch
We love your videos because they are real Eric!
💩happens to everyone so it's somewhat endearing to see how others navigate the same crap river we all seem to be floating in from time to time. Keep up the awesome work! We love it!
Been watching Eric ever sense he started on UA-cam It never gets old.
Worth every minute thank you
Love your videos. Always interesting and entertaining.
I watch for the commentary, I don't remember watching a single video of one of the cars I own, I watch for the winning personality. I've been fixing my own cars my whole adult life, because most mechanics are slightly less than honest.
Hi Eric, You do a good job. Always learning more from you
Just one more good video! I’ll watch them all to the end!
My cable TV has 300 channels, I would still rather watch an SMA video.
honestly I watch you for entertainment more than instruction. Not that I don't learn anything, because I do, but I enjoy the commentary.
Pretty much any repair is fun to watch. I always check SMA first.
I personally enjoy your videos and always seem to learn something. You have also helped me spend a lot of money over the years on tools and related automotive equipment. LOL. Keep up the good work.
