These were the horns used on the H - 16 - 44 and H - 20 - 44's of the Akron, Canton, and Youngstown RR. And that's how they sounded coming Eastbound through Sycamore, Ohio in the late '50's . Thanks for this.
As long as it's for personal use, I don't have a problem with it. I got permission to use the recording in this video though. It doesn't belong to me so I can't really give you permission to distribute it as a train sim horn...

Such a beautiful horn! It's sad that the M5 isn't used on today's railroads.
I wish Nathan still produced these
Nice, very very nice.
Bro I wish I had one. Plus I wish I had the money for one lol. 1951 Nathan M5 will always br the best horn of all time.
I never had any thoughts of distributing this horn or making it available for download. Thank you!!!
wel i agree. the best sounding M5 i heard :)
ACL, SAL, and FEC used these on their E units.
Lots of railroads used this horn. This was actually the main horn on the Western Pacific.
That sounds awesome.

Did the L&N use M5’s?
I believe most of their Alco FA’s and EMD F’s did, but between other locomotives, it varied

Do you mind use this recording to make a horn for a train simulator?
