CTWCs 2023 and onwards now have piece odds which are identical to the original game. This video refers only to 2022 and earlier, where this quirk that made the RNG friendlier existed.
One thing I've wondered about is whether it might be practical to have a leaderboard-based event as part of CTWC where the RNG seed would be published in advance, but the "next" box would be turned off and players would be tasked with achieving the best score they can without the aid of notes. Players would be invited to use a TAS in the months before the event to formulate the best strategy, but since piece count is about 2.5x the line count, reaching level 230 would require performing about 600 piece placements based on a memorized plan, and the optimal strategy for a given player would be based not purely on whether it hits all possible Tetrises, but whether the player can execute it, without the aid of notes, based upon what would be on screen at the time.

I had no idea that the CTWC sequences were more biased against repeats than the original game. I wonder why that is.
