I am sixty-eight years old and have been a Cowboys fan since 1965 as a ten year old kid. I have never missed the opportunity to either watch, or when circumstance called for it, listen to a game on the radio. Now that my mind is slowly fading away from me it is wonderful to have this work to remind me of the joy I have had as a Pokes fan. Thank you for this.
These current fans, players, staff, Cowboys content creators, and everyone else who loves this team needs to come back and wahch this video. Let's make it go viral.
Well the team was bottom of the barrel in 1989 when Jerry bought the team. Landry kept old players around like it was an office job. He did it because he cared about them, but it cost them the "winning atmosphere" you mentioned. Jimmy Johnson turned things around, and built a Superbowl team within just a few years. Jerry Jones started getting more involved, thinking Superbowls were an easy thing to come by, wanting the spotlight on him, causing Johnson to leave the team. Jimmy had built such a great team they got another Superbowl after he left, but the team starting declining after that. Now Jerry is out to fill seats, and hopefully have winning seasons with a playoff game from time to time. The Cowboys haven't drafted a 1st round, top 10 QB since Troy Aikman, and they probably won't win another Superbowl until they do. But they have to have a coach like Landry or Johnson to pick that QB. They've had one great coach (Parcells) since Johnson, but Jerry wouldn't leave him alone long enough to get a Superbowl either. Until Jerry hires a great coach (leaves him alone), drafts a top QB, and builds the right team around him.., the Cowboys won't win another Superbowl.
I was a was such a fan from 1961 until Jones bought the Cowboys. Quit watching them completely. Good days of Landry, Lily, Harris, Pugh, Jordan, Renfro, Cole, Meredith, Garrison, Howley, Too Tall Jones, to name a few and all the all the others were the great years for the Cowboys.
Nate Newton, ken Norton jr , Michael Irvin, Tony casilias, Jim jeffcoat, bill Bates, and they are a few more that played for Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson.
I was born in 1959 and my earliest memory is of watching the Dallas Cowboys play with my athletic mother. I played quarterback in my high school and wore the number 12 during the Roger Staubach years. I love my Cowboys and look forward to the next Great Cowboy team to dominate the NFL and establish another Dynasty for the Ages.
Born and raised in Texas will always be a cowboy fan them and them only im so heartbroken over what they have turned into All because of an owner and staff that don't care about tradition my wish is for Jerry Jones to sell them and go back to Arkansas where he came from hopefully a Texan will buy them not an outsider from another state
I still can't believe Danny White took us to 3 straight NFC Champ games after Roger retired. It hurt that we didn't win a Super Bowl then, but Danny was better than I thought he was.
Born in 89 and barely remember the last SB, it's been a real bummer but it toughens ya up as a fan dealing with all the bullshit and hate. Teams been drafting well the last 5 or so years, hopefully Dak can pull it together because this is the first time I remember our defense being truly legit.
1. Need a great coach. 2. Need to draft a 1st round, top 10 pick QB. 3. Jerry needs to stay out of coaches way. Until those 3 things happen the Cowboys won't win a championship game.
I was at that 1974 Thanksgiving day game when Roger got knocked out of the game and no 19 Clint Longly came in and threw that beautiful bomb to Drew Pearson for the win what a game Turkey tasted extra good that year.
Uhhh ohhhh i caught narrator in a boo boo. Bledsoe never guided dallas to 10 wins. He was 9-7 in 2005 after starting 7-3 and missed the playoffs. In fact it was bledsoe that began the whole.. COWBOYS DECEMBER COLLAPSE and not romo. Guy needs to do his home work
People are noticing that Dallas now has the longest Conference title game drought in the NFC. A reminder, we are approaching the “equinox of meh” for the Cowboys franchise. The time from the team’s first playoff appearance to its final championship was 30 seasons , ‘66 - ‘95. We are now 29 seasons beyond that last Lombardi trophy, with not one NFCCG appearance in the span To show how night and day those two periods have been: Period 1: 1966-1995 Championships - 5 Super Bowl appearances- 8 NFL/NFC title game appearances- 16 Period 2: 1996 - 2024 Championships - 0 Super Bowl appearances- 0 NFCCG appearances- 0 even crazier to think about this team went to 8 of the first 30 super bowls and unless a miracle occurs in 2025 will reach 0 of the next 30 😭
Fan since the 70's. Now I just watch this classic stuff. Jones' wrecked the whole thing. Don't watch now since Jerry threatened a young man's radio broadcasting job because he critiqued Jerry's work. Now the players smile after losses while they put on each other's jerseys. Bunch of snowflakes. This ole stuff is much better!
Cowgirl suck and they got a QB named Dakota that's been there going on nine years and chokes in the playoffs and still ain't won a Superbowl but everybody talks about stats stats don't mean nothing if you don't win the big game😂😂😂😂 how about them choking cowgirls
No quite as good as the 49ers. If they had treated their players as well as the 49ers did, they would’ve been as good as the 49ers. Way to go Schram, ya tightass

Grew up rooting for the Cowboys in the 60s today l live in Brazil since 1975 and STILL a diehard fan till today!

Dallas cowboys have had 20 winning seasons in a row from 1966- 1985 Also they had winning seasons for the most of the 1990s
yep
Have this dvd. Now I can watch it here - cool!
Without a doubt, the greatest sports organization in the history of the world
That's a pretty bold statement. 😆😆😆
I would give that honor to the Yankees but the cowboys are up there as well
@@indycrew 1. Yankees 2. Real Madrid 3. Canadiens 4. Manchester United 5. Lakers 6. Celtics 7. Packers 8. Dodgers 9. Bayern Munich 10. Cowboys
Everson Walls #24. No regrets on that being my jersey selection as an adolescent in the 80s
Tom Landry built a winning atmosphere and a base for the franchise that now is just mediocre.
Thanks to Jerry Jones

Tom Landry actually hated the “America’s Team” designation.
He thought Dallas was the "Universe's Team".
Thank you Jimmy Johnson
I had respect for them until Jerry Jones ruined it.

I was a fan until they screwed Romo in 2016
I like the histories that you are doing I would love more of them please
Fun Fact: Ed Too Tall Jones retired but he the only cowboys player in history to play with Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson to 1974-89
WRONG... Micheal irvin too
I think Aikman as well
@@rjperfetto584 no aikman was 89. Landry last stint was 88
This is so wrong. Stop making up stuff. Simple Google search.

@@HookedonChronicshope we beat the 49ers... 😊
Honestly I’d be happy now just to make a Super Bowl, not even win it, one of these days, we’ll make it back
1. Need a great coach.
2. Need to draft a 1st round, top 10 pick QB.
3. Jerry needs to stay out of coaches way.
Until those 3 things happen the Cowboys won't win a championship game.
I’m willing to wait
1966--1985:
20 winning seasons
18 playoff seasons
13 division titles
12 conference championship games
5 conference championships (NFC)
2 Super Bowl championships
208-79-2 regular season record
19-16 playoff record
That's pretty damn good.
I was at that 1974 Thanksgiving day game when Roger got knocked out of the game and no 19 Clint Longly came in and threw that beautiful bomb to Drew Pearson for the win what a game Turkey tasted extra good that year.
When Tex and Landry were there the Cowboys didn’t go 30 years between championships, then Jerry comes along and tarnishes the Cowboys winning legacy
crazy I grew up a cowboys fan but could no longer support them after they screwed Romo, now i'm a fan of their long time rival 49ers
I loved Tony romo and not a dak guy but could never switch teams. Wish I could
You were never a Cowboys fan if you root for the Niners. You are just a closet Niners fan all along.
Yes cowboys still favorite team

Like the 49ers treated Charles Haley?
There is no such thing as Americas team, that just media crap.
Actually NFL Films dubbed them that based on the early days of team apparel and souvenir sales.
The 1978 highlight film from NFL Films, that was the title and America 's Team stuck from there
