My tip is: Travel romance can happen. But, no Sex in shared rooms/common areas. It’s awkward, it’s weird and no one wants to walk in on you in the kitchen at three in the morning.

There was one person who I met who managed to do the deed in the shared room. He had a curtain that he was able to pull over the railing across his bottom bunk bed. I was within eye distance and I pretty much knew what he was up to despite the fact that the lights were off. I could hear what he was up to and I even spotted the chick as well.

@@m6v5 The question that should be asked is why would they do that in a shared room? If I happen to catch a glimpse that doesn’t make me a creep. It makes the two of them weirdos.

My advice… if you lend someone something make sure ‘they’ remember to give it back to you 😅. Nearly lost a charger and a power pack lending it to people.

How do I wake up early in a hostel? Because if I set an alarm it may wake up everyone.

Is it possible to somehow link the alarm to a pair of ear pods or something?

@@ChrisOutdoors_ smart watches with vibrations are good for this but tbh if you don't snooze and wake up right when it rings it shouldn't be a problem

Just set an alarm and turn it off quite quickly, people won’t moan at you for setting an alarm but they will moan if you forget to turn it off or if you don’t wake up.

I don’t think it matters it you’re standoffish. It’s fairly understandable if you just want to cut cost and don’t want to be social. In terms of introducing yourself, you might literally not ever get the change to even talk to your own roommates. For example, at my last hostel stay, I never even talked to or saw my own bunk mate of 3 nights. We never in the room at the same time (at least not consciously).

I have a noob question. I am absolutely new to this. Some hostels have a small sink in the room itself. Is it only for washing hands? What is acceptable and not acceptable to use it for? Like if one had to shave their face/beard. Would it be ok to do that? Thank you!

My advice take old stuff you don't like eg old tshirts
These days many homeless people use hostels and people steal anything you'd be surprised. Many hostels are in places hard to find call before you go choose hostels easier to find eg not gothic qtr Barcelona. Book in advance for special dates eg Xmas. Take a small book incase of charging issues or flights. Take a radio W duracel batts. Take solid soap. If you ask for a refund if you have paid for days you don't use they will try to not refund you.

Hey there! Are there particular sites to book hostels? Like in US we have Air BNB, but obviously not so much for hostels. How does it work in Europe? Thank you!
