Your channel has educated me on radioactive material better than the other channels ever thought of , TY Very much for that and keep up the good hard work .
Drew as a Marine we trained north of Niland, CA. Pretty desolate place as I remember back in late 80’s & early 90’s. Sure thankful for my training & love the videos.
Thanks. I plan to come out there one of these days and make a video about Hunters Point and Treasure Island. Some interesting contamination going on there.
@Johnleefromthemist I would like to think people would want to learn more. I’ve already had a run in with some journalist from SF when I bought a radium personal marker like the ones they found at Hunters Point. Very interesting perspective coming from someone like that. The guy found out about what I had bought from an Instagram post.
@@RadioactiveDrew cool man your really good at what you do your videos are personal we the people should know our environment our future generations should have the right to be aware thank you on behalf of our future children
The only real issue with the salton is the lake. There is a contingency plan for when it eventually dries up. The bottom of the lake is where all the dirty bombs are
i have found 50 cal rounds out near here while metal detecting... I remember digging one up from about 10 inches deep and finding green corrosive goo coming out of the tip... so i put it down pretty fast lol
I wonder if the underground fuse bunker accumulates naturally occurring radon gas arising from natural isotope decay in the underlying substrata. Great video.
The cell service is a bit spotty but not bad. If you got stuck you might have to get to a high point to get service. But if getting stuck is your worry make sure to bring a shovel. The sand is pretty deep in certain areas.
There were a couple areas that were giving me a little higher than normal readings. I need to go back out there and do some radiation mapping. Maybe in the fall or winter...I hate going out there during the summer.
@@RadioactiveDrew yes it’s terribly hot here up until late December weather starts to be enjoyable in the day and night! Awesome, I’m very interested in the findings for that video if there is any
@@RadioactiveDrew I’m born and raised here in the Coachella valley and I’m just learning about this site so close to home that will affect everyone here in the future since the sea has been drying up pretty quickly!…thanks for the reply! 🙏
@azc7785 I hope they figure out something with the sea. I’ve been going there for the last 15 years and it has changed quite a bit. If the water level gets low enough they are going to start seeing those aircraft sitting at the bottom of the sea.
@@RadioactiveDrew they’ve added hay stacks on the dried up beds along with other projects in trying to minimize the toxic dust… there’s more info on the Salton Sea management Program website. I know. It’s nice finding something hot but that’s not always the case in locations like this. Exploring a site like this has its own reward. Don’t worry, the next couple of videos have some pretty good radioactive finds. I’m also working on one tracking down a very radioactive area using an EPA radiological survey map that’s of an old uranium mining district.
How much was your redeye I'm considering getting one now oops I looked them up and are slightly higher than was expecting my GQ 600+ is kinda heavy and bulky compared to that rad eye
Drew congrats on finding radiation there, you have inadvertently found levels all over California higher than those found inside the exclusion zone in Chernobyl . To verify what I'm saying is true is to see for yourself by watch the ""kreosan English "" channel ""Cynep Cic channel "" also.
13:44 you said "steel belting", you meant "steel beads". The steel belts are under the tread, the steel beads hold the tire on the wheel But everybody here knew that, just me mansplaining.
I totally agree with you. The graffiti is bad but the thing I can’t stand is people destroying some of the buildings out there. There is already so little left standing.
This video could be just about anything, I would still watch it just for the cinematic shots! very nice keep it up
Thanks...glad you appreciate the effort I put into these videos.
Seriously how do you not have way more followers??
Your shots and cinematography is amazing!
Thanks.

Hands down phenomenal production value you put forth into these videos!! Cheers 🤟
I watched a good amount of your videos and I really enjoyed them, keep them coming
Thanks. I’m always working on new ones.
@RadioactiveDrew been learning alot from your videos thank you
I’m glad to hear this. It’s one of the huge reasons I do these videos.
@@RadioactiveDrew I got a loan of a friend's radeye and found radioactivity in my house (smoke alarm)
Some 50s atomic era music would be fitting for the drone shots, Like I don't want to Set the World on Fire by the ink spots
That would have been good.
Love your content, Amazing work, thank you for sharing these parts of History.
Glad you are enjoying it.
Binge watching this channel. Cheers from Colorado

So much history, all but forgotten. Fascinating place to be, The Salton Sea has it all!

There are a bunch of crashed military aircraft at the bottom of the Salton Sea. I believe its something like 25.
It'll turn into a clean up site once it dries
Thank you, I really enjoyed your videos on this.🇺🇲

That goo might have been some type of old explosive.
The Atomic Test Range relocated to Tonopha NV in the Nellis Test complex. Twenty mile North of Groom Lake area.
The Nevada Test Site is west of Groom Lake
Correction Salton Sea Test Base relocated to Tonopha Test Range 70 miles north of Groom Lake.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonopah_Test_Range
Very nice! I guess it’s a good thing they cleaned up the site well enough you couldn’t find anything.
My search was pretty quick. I plan to go back out there and look around a bit more.
There wasn't anything there in the first place..."click click...click..."
Thanks Drew!!
Time lapse...good stuff.
Going here tomorrow!
I bet at some point, the military had an RTG or two there providing power before power lines were put in.
That would be cool if that were true. Most of the American RTGs used plutonium and those are very expensive to make.
If you go on the north east side of superstition mountain like 15 miles from there you will find all kinds of stuff.
I'll have to check that out.
I wonder if the underground fuse bunker accumulates naturally occurring radon gas arising from natural isotope decay in the underlying substrata. Great video.
Could be possible...but with that big open door it would get blown right out.
Another great video
Thanks.
Title of video should be "Taco recovers a Raptor in sand".
Hahaha…yeah that would go over great.
Love the t shirt, where did you get it
They can be found at uraniumstore.com
look up the desert strike exercise from the early 60s
I’m pretty sure underneath all that is a very long underground building.
That would be cool to discover.
you are literally recording rocks, yet I cant stop watching

Do you think the sea drying out will pose a threat to neighboring cities in the valley?
Yes, it will be a big problem for people in the area.

your out in the middle of no wehere, where do those drains go ?
Good question. I would assume a lower level pipe that would go out to the Salton Sea...maybe?
I'm guessing a septic/holding tank or leech pit not too far(maybe 20-50 ft.) from where that building was.
That could be possible.
Great watch ‼️thanks. But it was a bit like going to the thrift store and not finding anything hot‼️😂😂😂

If you want to find nuclear material, you’ll have to go to the bottom of the salt and sea. That’s where they lost one.
That would be an adventure going down to the bottom. I bet there is some crazy stuff down there.

Yeah the Radeye B20 is a little over $2000 but for what I use it for its worth it to me.
Guy has Maxxtrax he should have been able to get out unless he was 2WD?
Should have just used all of California as a test site. We'd be better off
If they didn't explode anything there why would it be radioactive?
They dropped dummy atomic bombs that would blow up and they had depleted uranium in them.
@@RadioactiveDrew oh I gotcha I thought it was just a dummy bomb drop spot
U.S. government did all kinds of stupid stuff in the desert. Nothing surprises me after seeing the Atomic testing they have done all over the place.
