  • If a broken pin from your wheel's quick release gets stuck inside the wheelbase connector and you can't remove it, replacing the entire cable is how you get back on the road. This is an easy job for anyone who has ever successfully swapped out a smartphone battery or installed a HDD, CPU or GPU into a computer.

    You sound like Mike Simracing 604, lol
    Still loving my CSWv2, always in the back of my head that i need a DD but it just lives on and on so sticking with the old faithful.

      Haha, so I’ve heard 😆 Mines a v2.5 that I bought used and it served me well for 3 or 4 years. I had the same thought as you, a DD would be nice but I wasn’t going to abandon a perfectly functional belt drive wheel…then one day it stopped detecting the hub and wouldn’t give any FFB, and it turned out to be broken pins 🥲 I’m saving up for a DD now and will swap over next time I have any issues!

    I have mine apart as I type this. Not because of the pin problem but because the limiter nut has literally disintegrated its threads after five years. I had wondered why my wheel was losing force feedback detail since I knew it couldn't have been the motor or drive belts. Turns out the limiter threads were slowly getting eaten away and beginning to foul up the motion of the main worm shaft. Having to replace the limiter is much more involved but still appears to be quite doable with the additional tools needed being circlip pliers to remove the two circlips. But I am struggling to understand why Fanatec did not use captive nuts on the part that limits the movement of the limiter towards the front of the wheelbase. It just seems to make the job more difficult than it needs to be. That and the glue on the mainboard connector (which in my case happily just peeled away in one piece at room temperature.

    Thank you so much for this video! I suspect I have the same issue! I read that you still have issues though?

      I do, not really sure why to be honest. I feel like I did a solid job putting my gear back together, but it did come with several bent pins, so maybe that ended up being the issue even though I did my best to bend them back into the right orientation. The quick release didn’t seem to fit right and had some interference going together the first time😤

      @@KameTrick Bent even on the female connectors?
      And if I understand your problem correctly, it functions normally but has sudden small disconnects where FFB stops (and also buttons on wheel stops working)?

    I have a servo base V2 and I love it, but my fan never stop’s running at full speed. It wasn’t like this when I bought 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Do you happen to have a video for how to do this on the Playstation version of the CSL Elite?

    • @KameTrick
      @KameTrick  Рік тому

      I wish I did but I don’t own one of those wheels 😅🙏🏻 That said, it’s bound to be similar. You might check Barry’s UA-cam channel: Sim Racing Garage to see if he has a product review for that wheel, though! In his detailed product reviews, he usually takes the wheel covering off and looks at the inner components a bit, so that might give you insight into what you’ll be getting into to do this repair work on your setup. Also, if you ask Fanatec for some direction or pictures they can probably provide you with something. They at least were able to for my wheel, which formed the basis of making this video. Good luck, dude! ❤️‍🩹🫡

    Hi fine video.. but there is no link where to buy the cable, i need a cable to my Fanatec dd1 base, please where do you buy your cable 🙂

    • @KameTrick
      @KameTrick  Рік тому

      Fanatec only sells it if you open a support ticket with them. You have to create a support ticket, tell them you need new cables, and wait for them to reply and put a bill on your account. When you pay it, they ship the replacement cables out to you 👍🏻

    Could the pins be eliminated and connect wires directly. I mean if you're never going to swap the wheel?

    • @KameTrick
      @KameTrick  Рік тому

      It should be possible, yes. Assembly would take some skill and dexterity though. If you try it let us know how it goes. I like my fanatec products overall but the wheel buttons aren’t worth the risk of product failure / FFB loss if the wrong pin gets compromised. Would have appreciated a different contact method in their newer DD line

    So, are you fully back to 100% or still some lingering issues? (FFB intermittent issues)

    • @KameTrick
      @KameTrick  2 роки тому +1

      Intermittent issues, maybe the bent pins on the replacement parts I received were compromised 🤷🏻‍♂️
