- This is a video I made to give to sponsors for a national championship trials event my club is hosting in July 2010 at Donner Ski Ranch in Truckee, CA. It's meant to showcase some things that can be done on a trials bike with the best riders to people who might not know much about the sport. This is not the final version, just a nearly complete version to get opinions from other members of Sacramento PITS and those involved with the event organization.
Thanks to Geoff Aaron and his company, ERE (www.ereonline.c..., for allowing us to use his Balancing Act videos to create this. Make sure you buy his awesome videos. Balancing Act 1-4 available on ERE's site. They're all legit.
Riders:
Geoff Aaron - 10 time national champ
Adam Raga - 2005 and 2006 world champ, 4 time indoor world champ
Marc Colomer - 1996 world champ
Dougie Lampkin - 7 time world champ, 5 time world indoor champ
Takahisa Fujinami - 2004 world champ
Kenichi Kuroyama
Also, the great Jordi Tarrés (7 time world champion) is in there. But as Raga's minder only.
Holy ####. I attended trials events (mostly in the 70's) and I was blown away by they could do back then. This is (guess the bikes and riders just keep evolving) unbelievable!!! I remember being impressed by a friend's little brother (motocrosser) who could like rider around the farm on the back wheel for 1/2 hour at a time. These guys look like they could just sit on one wheel and eat dinner at the same time.
As a rider since 1962.... WOW!
Mind blowing skill sets there, what a combination of balance, throttle control and coordination, must be seen to be believed.
Wow. Clutch, throttle and brake control WITH killer balance! Unbelievable. Anyone who questions the skill needed is a meat head. These guys are truly amazing.
exactly! I love to hear the sound of someone winding up a 2 stroke getting ready to pop the clutch to pull a wheelie!
The sport has changed so much since I first started riding trials in the mid 70's with the P.I.T.S. My friends used to make fun of me cause my dad made me learn to ride trials before moto X. Great vid.
@chevyndodge77 Tank (plastic- for Fuels ONLY) is between the Delta-Box frame-rails from the front fork triple-tree's to the frame & swing-arm mount. The newer bikes (Gas-Gas, Beta, & others) the fuel is stored inside the frame itself. They hold just over 2 litres (.7 U.S gal) of fuel and there are aux. tanks available which mount to the front of the bikes (where the # plate is) and hold an additional 1.1 litres of fuel. No seat because us riders don't set. Dry weight of 160 lbs. ave. Bike...
One of the coolest forms of motorsport ever! Would a helmet with a rock guard get in the way of your view? Seems like you'd want the most protection possible; but I didn't see any full moto-cross domes.
This is crazy, I am a Mototcrosser, and i have mad respect for these trial and enduro riders.
The Elite of off road riding . great footage
Man as a kid i always wanted a trials bike.
Used to trial a BSA B32 350cc fifty years ago weighed a ton ! In those
days you rode the bike home after the event wet and muddy or whatever!
Tough or what? Seriously these modern day riders are athletic ballet
dancing acrobats. I cant be any more complimentary than that!!
Don't wanna be THE generic comment, but you guys are making the video game Trials a real-life experience! :D
blue and red costumes, this is MIND BLOWING.
thanks. it was a fun project as part of the huge picture of setting up a national championship.
this sport looks sooo badass. i do similiar stuff on my yz250f but would love to get a trials bike! I live in verdi right down the road from you guys if you ever want to ride. You guys ever cruise over to moon rocks?
i used to do trials and its one of the best sports ive ever done,
but by allowing us to stop, the section designers can make us ride up much bigger, and more technical obstacles. it was a change for the good IMO. the no stopping rule was before my time but my family has been in the sport since the 60s so i know all about it.
if you ever get the opportunity, go to a world championship or even national championship trials event. youll eat your words. I respect trials bicycle riders immensely. I have a few friends in my club that do both and they are incredible. but you cant get a bicycle up a 12 foot vertical face.
this sport looks sooo badass. i do similiar stuff on my yz250f but would love to get a trials bike! I live in verdi right down the road from you guys if you ever want to ride.
What air pressure do these guys typically run in their tires?
Beautiful to watch!.
@asdwer321 Because with this sport you don't need someone with heavy equipment to make you a track to memorize.. You actually get better. And you need 1/4 of the area to ride in.. If you ever actually went to see a trials event you would understand.. Motocross you can only ride on tracks.. These, you can have 5x the fun riding anywhere.. You just look at things on the side of the road and wish you could have your bike to go and try the steps out...
I used to love watching this when I was younger, now I remember why =D
@KingGoodall88 Indeed. Trials gets no respect and I think the riders are more talented than the other bike racers in many many ways. I love this stuff.... and remember they have been doing it for 30+ years I started seeing it in 6th grade, 1975..... and it was around well before THAT.
it must b hard 2 control the back brake(foot pedal)??
You made this video? Pretty sure I have this on DVD from 5 years ago bud
how heavy are those bikes? and whats the engine cc?
what is the weight of one bike wike this ?
Why do they ride with like 10 psi in the tires?
amazing power on the rider and the bike's behalf
what are some of the rules and what not for this sport?
the trial bike is fantastic
Amazing ... man and bike are as one !!
@ManUnited10r Its not somethin you just start. You have to be REALLY comfy on a bike first. Then go jump around on a bike and see how ya do! Thats what helmets are for, right?
Does anyone know a channel on trial runs?
@alexrotax I have no idea about the exact weight but is very, very, very light.
theyre compareable to enduro and mx bikes. 9-10k but you can get a couple year old model for much chaper. i bought my 06 in 08 for about 4500.
funny how i said "thanks to Geoff Aaron for allowing us to use his Balancing Act video to create this." its ok i accept your apology.
yeah i wanted to leave the audio but the original film I got from ERE had music mixed with engine so when I cut the video up to flow the way I wanted, the audio got trashed. using music was my way to cover it.
what's the song?
first song was a blink182 tune second one was a freebie i found to avoid copyright infringement.
This guys like a mountain goat...amazing skill.
One small wheel for kids... superb...
So impressed.
I should repost this as-Trials rider performing more things I can't do..
is this the fallen interlude from Blink 182
ive seen enough, im starting.
THATS AMAZING!
haha. the last thing you want is to have baggy clothing, even just a little, getting hung up on a branch or rock and pulling your arm or leg off the bike. this video is a few years old and now the trend is for tight fitting gear that looks a lot more like standard mx gear.
reminds me of trials HD
i still have no idea how this works
unreal skill
so the tires grip the rock better
dont think people apreciate what a skill it is
@eatthinkblink yes it is
more impressed with trials riders on regular bikes. these guys have motors to power them...still have some skills though
Fallingwater...you got that right. I hate when they put music to any video. What is wrong with the sounds of what is going on. Great video besides the horrible nois they call music. I just can't believe they can do that with a motorcycle.
@Bansheerider1979 Both are impressive. Why be partisan, both are cool. And while these have motors, a guy on a pedal bike ain't gonna hop up no 30 foot sheer rock face ;)
@KingCast65 I agree, I'm an MX Racer (And on a quad, but Irrelevant) And these people have a ridiculous amount of skill. I couldn't image tellin someone I was a trails racer and them being like what? That must not take much. Which I'm sure happens soo often.
-Brodie
I thought I was all that on my Bike when I was a kid......... Now I know for a fact I was just a kid with a bike.
dude so cool!!!
@aR3DF0Xa Yeah thats fair, I can barely bhop a bike myself.
amazin!!
There are only 2 types: Squid and riders with a competition license. Geoff Aaron and these others are among the best. New rider? Watch! Learn.
NOw give me the controller, i wanna try!
they get alot more traction at low psi
awesome 0:51.
damn .... sepertinya menyenangkan
If they were using the 3 hundredweight bikes we used to ride they would be kackered
epic
@dn553314 Athletes tends to do that :D
trials has got to be one of the hardest things and requires SO much skill... But why the gay spandex???
Hmmm, people are stupid for never seeing a video, seems legit ;)
this guy shout try real English trials, sloshing through 2 foot of mud on a rigid Norton!! I recon he'll be quite good ;)
Jam sam upoznao europskog prvaka u ovome
parkour of dirt bikes
i'm not that good even on gravity defied !!!
J
why do people who do this wear stupid lycra suits? they look ridiculous
Trials the game makes this look boring as hell
u suk
This is dumb other people do this and more on mountain bikes so try that instead of a motor doing all the work
ha...you guys ROCK!...lol
Whats this song?
