I've had this scope about 11 years. I've got a 12 inch dob and a 6 inch refractor on an EQ5 mount and to be honest, the ST120 on the AZ mount is still the one i use most. It's a fantastic grab and go. Over the years i've gradually upgraded eyepieces and really, this is all you need. The atmosphere in the UK is rarely ever steady enough for big magnification and the ST120 has a wide enough field of view and light gathering power for the majority of deep sky objects and a fair few double stars. For a first scope its a really good shout.
Yes I agree. I have up graded my eyepieces and I am more than happy with it. I can see the rings around Saturn, the moons around Jupiter. And the moon is unreal.
@@MrEnglishman6969 Oh thanks! Which one would you recommend? The wife don't have any experience but she loves to watch the night sky, moon, comets etc. Im going to order with the mobile thing for pictures and dont mind spending more if it means a better experience.
if you look at my clip again it shows the ones I bought. and to be honest i use them all. The 2" (32mm eyepiece) is really good for looking at the hole sky. I was surprised with it I could see the satellites crossing the sky at speed. the SW 3.2mm is great for seeing Jupiter and its 3 moons and Saturn . The extras I bought were 2x Barlow lens , Celestron E-LUX 32MM EYEPIECE and the 2" 90 degree eyepiece adaptor , SW 3.2mm eye piece , moon filter and to be honest that is everything I could need. I got mine from rother valley optics. The service was great it all come really well packed and The stuff I bought was on there advice once I had told them what I wanted to look at. If your wife is like me a complete novice just buy the stuff I bought I am well over the moon with it all. I have used mine about 10 times now and I am really happy I bought the extra eyepieces. I know if I had just gone with the 2 eyepieces it came with I would have been a bit disappointed. They say its all about the eyepieces you have and I totally agree with it now. Hope this helps @@samini123
@@MrEnglishman6969 Thanks a lot that is a great help. I'll talk to them or my supplier here in Sweden and see what they can come up with and I'll just get the same set. I think it looks like a great set. Thanks again!
Just want to thank you for this video because, i am in the same zone of "scratching my head" of watching all these "salesman" talking about scopes. Really thank you for this basic level video, might pull the switch on this scope.
@@yusefzonk1588 no problem at all mate. I love it. To be honest I am not really into it mad. But when I do go out and have some good quality eye pieces the night sky is stunning. I can sit there with a coffee for 2 hours no problem at all. On the 8th of August the six planets will be in line which is rare so that should be a cracking sight.
I used it yesterday and was easy to use. I could see Jupiter and it’s 3 moons. Still have to work out how to get the best from the eye piece. The full moon was cracking. The sky was not really dark so looking forward to a really dark sky. Happy with it so far.
Had this out now about 10 times now and I am so happy I bought this and the extra eyepieces. Really easy to use and move across the night sky. Really really happy with the extra eyepieces, the 2" ,32mm is great for looking deep into the hole night sky, I can see the Satellites speeding across the night sky which took my by surprise and how fast they are going (Being a beginner). The 3.2 is great for looking at Jupiter and its 3 moons, and Saturn. All in all very happy I went with this scope
Great to be honest with the right eye pieces. I could see Saturn and it’s rings really good. Jupiter and it’s moons are ok. The moon is unreal, can see so Much on the surface of the moon. I am only a novice so have nothing to compare it with really.
You're better off with the short focal length. Long tube telescopes have a smaller field of view which makes it harder to see the whole of alot of deep sky objects ,and also makes it harder to find object in your eyepiece. I think for a beginner a short tube refractor is perfect.
I had it out last night with a clear sky. I was using the 2’ eye piece and to my surprise I could see satellites crossing the sky. Spotted 3 moving quite fast across the night sky. First one I found hard to follow but once I got the hang of moving the hole scope I followed the other 2. Looking forward to seeing Saturn and the moon again. No moon last night 😩.

Thanks for the video, will be getting this for the wife for Christmas.
I would also buy the extra eye pieces if you can. makes a big difference to have the extra options to view different things

Nice, thank you for the update.
thanx for the review what about the az3 mount? is it good ?
How was your experience with planet viewing? I am confused with this and Skyliner-200P 8" or 6 inch dobsonian, they all are in similar price range.
Great to be honest with the right eye pieces. I could see Saturn and it’s rings really good. Jupiter and it’s moons are ok. The moon is unreal, can see so

Can you fit 2 inch eye pieces?
yes you can. I bought 2" eye pieces with it.
shows in the clip the 2" I bought
hello great video I have been looking for a telescope for a while i have decided on this one
I am very happy with it. and its a step up from the novice scopes

Better not to use a Barlow because it decreases the image quality and brightness.
Thanks for the review, considering getting this one, just not sure what eye pieces to buy...good job 👍
They come with 2 eye pieces which are fine to start with.
The 2” I bought is good for looking deep in to the hole sky. And a Barlow lens. I have just ordered a 90 bend as they come with a 45.

@@edeszabo1977 I say I am as novice in the clip ?
