My favorite suggestion to people who are wanting to read more, or start reading....is to pick a book based movie that you like, and read the book. It feels less daunting, since you already know, most of, the characters and events. But, as we all know, generally, there's still plenty to discover in the book version of a movie.
That’s a great tip! Or read a book for a movie you’ve been wanting to watch and then watch the movie after you finish as a reward.
@@Maneetpaul Yeah. I like that too. I think for a reluctant reader, the former is an easier bridge to traverse.
I remember reading LOTR, and some Star Wars books, after watching the movies. And, it really helped to get engaged in the stories.

I did a variation of that - I really wanted to watch Apple TV's Slow Horses series as the promos caught my attention. But didn't want to subscribe to yet another streaming service. So listened to the Audible of the first book in the series it's based on. Then another. And in a surprisingly short time I've read all - some audible, some kindle - the Slow Horse novels and novellas (!) plus probably all of the author Mick Herron's spy related books. Excellent and recommended btw! But I now don't want to watch the streaming series as I doubt it'll match the books. Tho Oldman might be entertaining to watch

I wish Amazon would release a Kindle Oasis Color, or Paperwhite Color with page turn buttons, or the Kindle Scribe with Color and page turn buttons.

Mine only charged up to 97% and no more. Also it takes very very long to charge now. 😢
You can still buy refurbished and new international versions. I’m buying one last one
I’m going to hope that it’s just slowly getting a refresh…because I love the page turn buttons. I have a Paper White and the Oasis and I always default to the Oasis because of the buttons! I find them really essential for 1-handed reading. Here’s to hoping the buttons stay on at least one Kindle reader.

The fact that they have no devices now with page turn buttons is why I think something will come out hopefully soon. This is a feature that many people like. I am not a Nook fan but the new Lowlight 4 plus has them as do Kobos. There is only the Oasis on the kindle line. I find that to be a bad business model as there are still those of us who like having them available.
Congratulations on your new book! I purchased it to read on my doomed Kindle Oasis.
My guess is that they come out with a color version later this year that includes buttons and the larger screen and is waterproof but has slight design changes to justify it being a new name.
I suggest reserving the use of the word “officially” to when it’s actually been announced. Drawing conclusions based on it being out of stock in the US market and being removed from a comparison table doesn’t sound very official to me.
I don’t think they’ll officially announce a product being discontinued. Perhaps they will when warranties are all expired, but I believe that is at least 5 years after the product is last sold.
I would love to be wrong about this. There’s still a chance they replace it with something newer, which I also mentioned in the video. Only time will tell!

I really miss the page turn buttons. My go to devices are the Kobo Forma ( love the size) and Boox Leaf 2 in white. Without the page turn buttons I don’t see myself going back to Kindle since Booxe has the Kindle app so I can read all my Kindle books and library books on it.

I would be interested in a smaller, more affordable Scribe. Something between the Oasis and the current Scribe. I love my Oasis!
I have an Oasis and a Scribe. I enjoy using the Scribe for textbooks, books with maps or charts, and for note taking. However I always default to my Oasis for pleasure reading, and for taking along with me when I'm on the go. I love the premium build of the Oasis, the comfortable asymmetric design, and the page turn buttons. I truly hope Amazon comes out with a refreshed version of the Oasis, with page turn buttons, and possibly with a stylus like the Scribe. I am not at all attracted to the Paperwhite, and I will probably get a Kobo Sage when my aging Oasis needs replacement. The Oasis has a very loyal and dedicated following; it's sad that Amazon chooses to ignore these customers.
I love my Kindle Oasis and only bought it in September 2022 so this makes me so mad! I hope it's not true!
The recent update fixed the one problem I had with voiceview. Before it used to randomly repeat the same page and then skip a page. It no longer does that. That is a big thing for those who use voiceview.
I was really hoping for a refreshed Oasis with a better battery ;-;

Hi Maneetpaul. In the UK the Oasis is still advertised including the 32gb version so still available here. I bought mine when I saw your review back in 2019 and still going strong. I read on this every day and for holidays it is invaluable. Reading itself? Highly recommended.
Well, that is upsetting. I've been waiting, hoping for a refresh before I bought my first Kindle
As you say, still available here in the UK! Last stock possibly? I’m a huge fan of my Oasis. It’s just premium!. The only negative for me is the poor battery life in comparison to my older Kindles I owned. Oh and the charging connection. But I just turn on Airplane mode to extend time between charges. It would make sense to bring out the replacement model before discontinuing this one, but perhaps it’s not popular enough anymore.

I have a Palma and have been loving it but after selling my oasis I miss the form factor. Should I just wait or is there something out there where I can use readwise and the kindle app on an e reader?
Still seems to be advertised on the comparison chart and is available in the UK. Will be interesting to see if that changes soon.
I'm on Kindle Paperwhite from like 2018/2019. Just holding on until Kindle hopefully releases new devices (hopefully with buttons!!!) so that I can upgrade to it in 2024. I feel like they're overdue for some kind of device refresh and that's when I'll buy on.
So when I came across a similar youtube video by another channel yesterday, I went to Amazon and the Oasis came up on my compare with a Paperwhite Signature Edition. Seeing you come out today with just about the same video was weird to me. So I went back to Amazon and did the exact same compare, and today the Oasis was NOT on the compare list. Not only that, you can't even buy a new Oasis right now in the US. The only version I could find was the International Version (??) and it claimed it wouldn't ship it to me. Something is definitely up with the Oasis.
Tbh, I love the Kindle Oasis. I hope Amazon change it for a kindle scribe mini but keeping the page turn buttons.

Thanks for the video about the Oasis and your overview of the setting changes. I don’t think I’ve gone into any of these changes since I first setup my PW 2 years ago. I’ve got the font, font size, and book cover display on. I really appreciate your thoroughness on this sir.
As for the Oasis my dream would be a 8 inch Oasis style e-reader with the latest e-ink screen, great battery life and multiple colors to pick from like the Mauve Green PW. People could Pay extra and get 32 gigs of space, color ink screen, and writing capability. Like an Oasis signature.
I would just pay for the standard B/W screen model. I don’t need a color ink screen. That’s what a tablet is for.
Finally I do have a question if I buy this ePub file from you are there instructions how to get it on my kindle? I use Libby for library books but never just a separate book file outside of Amazon.

What alternatives to the Oasis are there outside of other Kindles? I have an iPad Mini which can access the 800+ books that I have in my Kindle library by using the Kindle app, but like many others, I really like the page turn buttons on the Oasis especially when reading in bed. A couple of the Kobos look good, but I don't think that any Kobo can access books already in my Kindle library.
I'm an Kindle 9th edition user and it's my final kindle after touch-ppw3-ppw4-voyage and I'd love to have a new and updated Oasis this year.
Kindle Oasis is still being sold in India but they seem to have removed the Signature edition (which I bought) when I checked the comparison chart 😞. I really hope they don't stop the software updates for the signature edition..

Hi, can you do a review about supernote a6x 2 and/or reMarkable 2?
When the Oasis II was introduced, I bought two, one as a spare. I love this Oasis and use it all the time. I chose the model with a cell radio, and it is handy when Wi-Fi is not available. Contrary to claims on the web that 4G LTE service no longer works, in fact it still does on the original 2019 USA Oasis. I can turn off the Oasis Wi-Fi radio and download Kindle books from my library using the cell service.
I’m glad they finally added a 24-hour clock mode.
I love the Kindle oasis and I’m sorry to see it go. I have three of them including the original model
I wish they would create a kindle with the portability of the basic, page-turn buttons, warm light, and a power button on the back of the device.
I still like the Oasis over the Signature Edition, but in the end both are fantastic devices. I hope that Amazon comes out with another Oasis model, and I love the form factor. I wouldn't mind an 8 inch wedge shaped Kindle with page turn buttons.

Are you planning any updated videos on Kindle alternatives? I watched your excellent Kobo comparison but it was two years old. Is there another video that would supplement this to make it more relevant?

I would have preferred an 8” screen like the oasis, with the form factor and haptic buttons of the Voyage. But it seems that amazon is determined to not giving us that.

When I open the Kindle Paperwhite on Amazon UK, I am seeing the Kindle Oasis in the comparison table still.
Seems like it’s sold out in the US and slowly making its way out of stock around the world. We’ll see how long it takes
My Oasis has been both my favorite...and LEAST favorite Kindle. I love the larger screen size, physical buttons, screen warmth. However, the battery life has been completely inconsistent since I've owned it. With no WiFi on, I have had it sometimes drain completely in less than a day...and at other times last for 10 days or more (I read a lot). Reading the same book. When the Oasis discharges fast, it also recharges extremely fast (faster than normal). It is JUST slightly to large to hold comfortably, and to fit in a pocket. I am interested to see what is coming next.
which is better paperwhite or oasis?
I was hoping perhaps they might have evolved the Kindle Oasis into a kind of more compact Kindle Scribe, with note-taking functionality in a smaller form factor.
Well, I hope that Amazon makes a Kindle with page turn buttons in the future because I won’t buy a reader without them. My Oasis is working fine for now and I have a Nook Glowlight 4 Plus so I am not in need of a new reader at the moment.
I love my Oasis, though I also have the latest Paperwhite. Fortunately, "dead" mostly means that you can't buy one new any more. Support for the Oasis software will almost certainly continue for several more years, so those of us that have them will still be able to use them for the foreseeable future.

I have owned all three Oasis. The best I’ve ever had. It is perfect for me. I love that I can lay down on my side to read. My Oasis is the latest model that they sold. I’ve had it since they came out with this model. I bought a Kindle Signature. It is nice but I prefer the size of the Oasis. You can’t flip the Signature upside down. The Oasis will automatically rotate. The Signature is harder for me to hold and I keep hitting the power button. I prefer the Oasis. I sure hope Amazon comes out with a model that still has the options of the Oasis. I read constantly so the device I’m reading on needs to be easy to use and comfortable.
I hope they do come out with a device to replace oasis. I want page turn buttons so maybe they might have a kobo Libra challenger

I like the Oasis but its to expensive to me. I bought Paperwhite last year and been loving it since. So I hope we get to see more like Oasis in the future.
Refurbished kindles are selling at extremely low prices on amazon.For eg oasis 32gb refurbished is now selling in Rs 12500, paperwhite signature edition in Rs9000.
So i am pretty sure that amazon is clearing the stock of oasis.And something is happening behind the doors.

Some people say that the kindle paperwhite has more glare than the kindle basic. What are your thoughts on this?
The basic doesn’t have a flush screen, so there’s less layer of glass. This makes sense. It’s not too big of a difference, but it’s there
No this is horrible - I love the Oasis the size and buttons on the side - but mostly the size it make it easier to hold with the extra room ugh.. I hope they come out with something better otherwise why pay the extra money.

This is actually not accurate. The oasis is just out of stock because a lot of people have been buying an oasis lately. Amazon hasn’t made an announcement that they are phasing them out.
How long will the kindle oasis support the kindle store? What do you think?
At least five years. I had a kindle 2 that worked until just a couple years ago when they retired the wireless network support. It came out in 2009 and it was usable until 2022 I think.
